INDIANAPOLIS - Frank T. Swayze, 87, died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Chapel. There will be graveside Military Rites.

Barbara Jo Thurman

Barbara Jo Thurman, 69, 1006 Center St., died at 10:50 p.m. Saturday at Washington Nursing Center.

Born Oct. 10, 1934, in Indiana, she was the daughter of Len G. Smith and Mary M. Brock.

A graduate of Forrest Hill School, she was a homemaker and retired from Crane.

She married Robert R. Thurman, Sr., on May 18, 1957, and he died Feb. 16, 1984.

She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law Robert R. Jr. and Bonnie Thurman, Plainville, and Michael Thurman, Washington; daughters and their husbands Diane and Duane Casey, Tulsa, Okla., and Sandra and Monte Bluebaum, Dayton, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.

She is preceded by her husband and both parents.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gill Chapel.

Burial will be in Gentryville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Robert G. Colglazier

BLOOMINGTON - Robert G. Colglazier, 78, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday at Richard Beam Blossom Health Care.

Born June 23, 1925, in Daviess County, he was the son of Frank and Lula (Wade) Colglazier.

He served in the Navy in World War II.

His wife, Helen Colglazier, survives in Alexandria, La. He is also survived by sisters Norma Hughes, Elletsville, and Iris Richards, Bloomington, and sister-in-law, Carolyn Colglazier. He was preceded in death by brothers Duane and Jim Colglazier.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Poindexter-Hall & McClure Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Williams officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Odon.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

SUE 'JAN' MARTIN

LOOGOOTEE - Sue "Jan" Martin, 64, died at 2:03 p.m. Monday at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

Born Aug. 16, 1939, in Coushatta, La., she was the daughter of Lloyd and Lucille (Chelette) Adams.

She received a GED from Loogootee High School in 1983. She was the owner and operator of Martin's Package Store in Wheatland and was a certified E.M.T. in Martin County in the 1980s.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Martin, whom she married Dec. 24, 1970; her mother, Lucille Kerr of Gladewater, Fla.; seven daughters, Jeanne Pope of Vincennes, Rebecca Oliver Porter of Loogootee, Angela Pittman of Switz City, Debbe Martin-Osborne of Loogootee, Jacquie Catt of Monroe City, Brenda Edwards of Loogootee, and Falicia Hollaway of Loogootee; one brother, Bobby Adams of Gladewater, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father and one son, Terry Lee Oliver.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lee Funeral Home, Loogootee. Burial will be in Goodwill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

AUDREY COLLEEN WININGER

Mrs. Audrey "Colleen" Wininger, 72, 109 Sundale Trailer Court, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at Washington Nursing Center.

Born April 2, 1932, in Daviess County, she was the daugher of Henry and Margaret (Hughes) Troutman.

A member of Bethany Christian Church, she attended Montgomery High School. She was a member of Women of the Moose, where she was a Junior Regent, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed serving on the election board at the polls.

She is survived by her husband, Donald E. Wininger, whom she married July 30, 1950; daughters and their husbands, Darlene and Roger Clark of Glendale, Diane and Glenn Foster of Muncie, and Drenda Darrett of Washington; one son, Donald Wininger Jr. of Winslow; grandchildren, Stacy Clark of Fishers, Holly Tetrault of Muncie, Meredith Lynn of Ft. Wayne, Jenna Foster of Muncie, Erica Brown of Washington, Phillip Brown Jr. of Washington, and Kayla Darrett of Washington; great-grandchildren, Haley and Abigail Tetrault, both of Muncie; brothers, Alex and Norman Troutman, both of Washington; and stepsister, Wilma Smith of Niveveh.

She is preceded in death by one sister, Maxine Frye, and one brother, Brisco Troutman.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gill Chapel, with Bro. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday at the funeral home.

STEVEN WILDMAN

LOOGOOTEE - Steven R. Wildman, 36, died at 8:53 p.m. Sunday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born Aug. 10, 1967, in Washington, he was the son of Billy L. and M. Sue Wildman.

A 1985 graduate of Loogootee High School, he was a truck driver for N & K Cornelius Farms in Plainville for four years.

He is survived by his wife, Anita (Corbin) Wildman, whom he married March 10, 1990, in Bloomfield; father, Billy L. Wildman of Loogootee; daughters, Megan Corbin of Loogootee, Ashley Williams of Petersburg, Angela Wildman of Petersburg, Stephanie Wildman of Petersburg, and Megan Wildman of Petersburg; sons, Daniel Wildman of Loogootee, and Nathan Williams of Petersburg; brothers, Billy Dean Wildman of Shoals, and Norman Wildman of Loogootee; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, M. Sue Wildman; maternal grandparents, Herman and Grace Heshelman; and paternal grandparents, Leland and Elva Wildman.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Loogootee United Methodist Church, with Pastor Chris Breeden officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Union Cemetery, Loogootee.

Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family at Lee Funeral Home.

HAROLD MATTINGLY

Harold J. Mattingly, 86, 108 Jamestown Square, died at 2:40 a.m. Thursday at Washington Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 11, 1917, in Daviess County, he was the son of Joseph and Alma (Alberti) Mattingly.

A member of St. Simon Church, he attended Washington schools and was the manager of Martin Service Station for 34 years.

He loved buying old cars and fixing them up. He liked listening to ball games and enjoyed watching his sons play ball.

He is survived by his wife, Eva (Beck) Mattingly, whom he married Oct. 20, 1943; three sons, William Joseph, Ronnie Charles and Joseph Harold Mattingly, all of Washington; two brothers, James Richard "Rip" and Donald Mattingly, both of Washington; two sisters, Eleanor Sturgeon of Washington and Shirley Bunte of Bruceville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Charles Eugene Mattingly; one sister, Kathleen Reckers; and one great-grandson, Jake Anderson.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Simon Church, with Fr. David Martin as the celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with a wake service at 4:30 p.m. today.

BONNIE CHESTNUT

TERRE HAUTE - Former Washington resident, Bonnie Chestnut, 69, died at 10:55 a.m. Monday at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born Nov. 17, 1934, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Charles and Rose (Lawyer) Fidler.

She was educated at Plainville and Washington schools. A dietary manager, she retired in 1997, having worked at Daviess Community Hospital for eight years and Greene County Hospital for 19 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Coleen Chestnut of Terre Haute and Rebecca Rehmel of Linton; one grandchild; two sisters, Dixie Bridges and Eleanor Brown, both of Washington; and four brothers, Ronald Fidler of Washington, Robert Fidler of Bedford, Bill Fidler of Linton and Charles Fidler of Indianapolis.

Her husband, John Chestnut, died Jan. 2, 2003. Two sons, William and Jerry Chestnut, two sisters, Marcella Wilson and infant twin Donna Fidler, and two brothers, Donald Fidler and infant Randall Fidler, are also deceased.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, with Rev. George Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Church of the Nazarene, 1 East National Hwy., Washington, IN 47501 or Vigo County Historical Society Building Fund, 1411 S. Sixth St., Terre Haute, IN 47802.

NORMA WILLIAMS

Norma Ruth Williams, 75, 2 Cottonwood Court, died at 7:20 a.m. Sunday at her residence.

The daughter of William D. McKinney and Vera Irene McBride, she was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School.

She married Robert Lee Williams June 7, 1947, and he died Nov. 26, 1996. She was a retired UniRoyal NASCO employee and member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

She is survived by daughters and their husbands Cheryl and Glen Gilley, Cathy and Tim Dant and Karen and Daniel Meade, Washington, and Sandra Collins, Plainville; sister Lois Lashley, Washington; brothers and sister-in-law David and Lorraine McKinney, Otterville, Mo., and William Earl McKinney, Bloomfield; 15 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sons Michael Williams and infant Dale Edward Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gill Chapel. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:35 p.m. today by White River Masonic Lodge No. 332, Shoals. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shoals.

PAUL E. (SONNY) GRAY

Paul E. (Sonny) Gray, 66, 619 S.W. Sixth St., died unexpectedly at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at his residence.

Born Jan. 28, 1938, in Washington, he was the son of Royce and Lillian (Fitzgerald) Gray.

He attended Washington High School and was baptized into the Baptist faith. He served three years in the National Guard and was a member of the U.S. Army 724th Engineer Battalion of the 32nd Infantry Division during the Berlin Crisis of 1961 and 1962.

He was a retired truck driver, having worked for Hillcrest Supply. He loved fishing and camping and enjoyed going to drag races.

He is survived by his father, Royce Gray of Washington; brothers, Ronald Joe Gray and wife Betty of Loogootee, and Steven L. Gray and wife Judy of Washington; and sisters, Pauline Fisher and husband Bill, Sue Taylor, and Jane Roach and husband John, all of Washington.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Gray, and a brother-in-law, Tom Taylor, Sr.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Rev. Ronald Barnes officiating. Burial will be in New Veale Creek Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home.

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Robert D. Roach, 70, died Saturday at his residence.

He was the beloved husband of Ruby "Jeanie" (nee Tucker) Roach; loving father of Frederick (Delores) Roach, Myra (Phil) Buher, Bobbi (Dan) Sosh, Christopher (Shannon) Roach, Melissa (Michael) McLean, Rhonda (Gordon) Carlisle; stepfather of Kim (Scott) Sparks, and Tim (Christina) Valis; devoted grandfather of 21 grandchildren and one late grandson, seven great-grandchildren and one late great-grandson; brother of Orval, Bernard and Tom Roach, Nancy Guy, Jan Guy, Linda Dinkens, and the late Alice May Robinson.

He was retired from CSX Railroad, formerly C & O and B & O Railroads, where he worked for 43 years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon at the Roosevelt Avenue Church of God, 2680 Roosevelt Ave., Cincinnati.

Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 7345 Hamilton Ave., Cincinnati, will be serving the family.
