LOUANNA G. TOMEY

May 5, 1924-April 24, 2001

BRISTOL -- Louanna Geneva Tomey, 76, of 17936 C.R. 102, died at 5:04 a.m. Tuesday (April 24, 2001) at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart.

On May 5, 1924, she was born in Pike County to William and Nellie (Russell) Cline. She married Charles W. Tomey in Martin County on July 31, 1961, and he survives.

Mrs. Tomey also is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Doris) Ellis of Bristol; a son, James (Denise) Ferguson of Battle Creek, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donetta Bortner of Bedford; and two brothers, Jim Cline of Loogootee and William Cline of Washington. A son Thomas L. Ferguson, one grandson and several brothers and sisters are deceased.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Bristol Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where the service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The Rev. Gary Sheets with Bristol Church of the Nazarene will officiate, followed by cremation.

Mrs. Tomey was a homemaker and worked for several years at Armour Meat Co.

She attended Bristol Church of the Nazarene.

Memorials may be given to Elkhart Community Hospice.

RUTH BOYER

FEB. 15, 1920 - APRIL 19, 2001

ELKHART -- Ruth E. Boyer, 81, of 1900 Jeanwood Drive, died at 3 a.m. Thursday (April 19, 2001) at Elkhart General Hospital.

She was born in Elkhart on Feb. 15, 1920, to Earl and Wilma A. (Angel) Nichols and married William H. Abel in 1937. He died in 1966. She then married Wilbur Boyer in 1966 and he died in 1974.

Mrs. Boyer is survived by a son, William D. Abelson of Elkhart; one daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Patti) Gross of Shirley; two stepdaughters, Mrs. John (Barbie) Carpenter and Marilyn Viers, both of Elkhart; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and her companion, Ernest Knifka of Elkhart.

A son, Ronald L. Abel, is deceased.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour before the service at 1 p.m. Saturday, all at the Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. The Rev. Mark A. Johnson with Life Tabernacle Church will officiate, followed by burial at Rice Cemetery.

Mrs. Boyer was a homemaker, a former house director at the YWCA and a member of Life Tabernacle Church.

Memorials may be given to the church.

JULIA B. SCHUMANN

Nov. 7, 1921-April 17, 2001

ELKHART -- Julia B. Schumann, 79, of 1900 Jeanwood Drive, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday (April 17, 2001) at Elkhart General Hospital.

Friends may call for a half-hour before the memorial service at noon today at the Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Ryan with St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church will officiate.

Mrs. Schumann, the daughter of John and Ann (Dwoak) Bross, was born in Chicago in Nov. 7, 1921. She is survived by a son, Charles of Cancun, Mexico; and one sister, Helen Hagberg of Darien, Ill. Her brother, John Bross, is deceased.

She was a retired credit manager with Keating Inc. in Chicago.

Joe H. Helton

Jan. 14, 1939 - April 15, 2001

BRISTOL -- Joe H. Helton, 62, of 53586 C.R. 27, died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday (April 15, 2001) at Elkhart General Hospital.

Mr. Helton was born on Jan. 14, 1939, in Saltville, Va. He is survived by a son, John (Tanya) of Bristol; two daughters, Toni Herdman of Elkhart and Tina Helton of Bristol; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bristol Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, where the service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Edgar F. Allen with Bethel Assembly of God will officiate and burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. Helton worked for 25 years at Plumrose and for the past seven years at Elkhart Products. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God.
Memorials may be given to the church.

CHARLES F. KELVER

TERRA CEIA, Fla. -- Charles F. Kelver, 87, formerly of Elkhart, died Saturday (April 14, 2001) at the home of his daughter.

Arrangements are pending at the Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Homes.

LESTER L. LIVINGS

SEPT. 11, 1945 - APRIL 12, 2001

BRISTOL -- Lester L. Livings, 55, of 51401 C.R. 19, died at 12:01 a.m. Thursday (April 12, 2001) in the emergency room at Elkhart General Hospital.

The visitation and funeral service will be private. The Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Livings was born in Mishawaka on Sept. 11, 1945, to Lester L. and Margaret (Hughey) Livings. He married Linda L. Lehr in Adrian, Mich., on Aug. 22, 1972, and she survives.

Also surviving are one grandson; his mother, Margaret Shireman of Oregon; and three brothers, Michael of Indiana, Joseph and Albert of Elkhart. His son is deceased.

Mr. Livings graduated from Penn High School and attended Ball State University. He formerly worked as a salesman for Dunlap Tool Inc. and retired as a truck driver for various companies. He was a member of Kane Lodge 183 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend and Elkhart York Rite.

Memorials may be given to Harbour Light Hospice.

RAYMOND L. BOOTH

Dec. 15, 1946-April 9, 2001

ELKHART -- Raymond L. Booth, 54, of 808 H Lane, died at 3:13 p.m. Monday (April 9, 2001) at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in South Bend.

Mr. Booth was born in Elkhart on Dec. 15, 1946, to Elston and Irene (Clark) Booth. He married Diedre Rodino on Sept. 20, 1998, and she survives. He has no other immediate surviving relatives.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home with the rosary at 6:45 p.m. given by the Rev. Jack Overmyer. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Fred Q. Bishop and followed by burial at Prairie Street Cemetery.

Mr. Booth, a graduate of Bethel College, was a locally known coin dealer as well an employee in the patient records department at the Elkhart Clinic. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge 599, Elkhart Coin Club, American Numismatic Association and the American Philatelic Society.

Memorials may be given to Mooseheart or Moosehaven.

BRUCE A. HOUT

April 10, 1925 - April 9, 2001

EDWARDSBURG -- Bruce A. Hout, 75, of 19250 State Line Road, died at 7:13 a.m. Monday (April 9, 2001) at Elkhart General Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at the Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home.

FLORABELLE BLACK

October 9, 1930 - April 8, 2001

FloraBelle Black, 70, of 207 N. Second St., died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday (April 8, 2001) in her home.

Friends may call one hour before the memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. The Rev. Leozie Broadnax will officiate. Cremation has taken place.

She was born in Elkhart on Oct. 9, 1930, to William H. and Mabel (Merril) Dunnuck, graduated from Elkhart High School and married Charles J. Black in 1947. He died Oct. 3, 1967.

Surviving are five sons, Michael A. (Kathy) of Bristol, Thomas R. and William E., both of Elkhart, Charles J. Jr. of Atmore, Ala., and Lester D. of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren; a sister, Lenora Gregg of Bristol; and two brothers, Maj. William Dunnuck, U.S.A.F., of Elkhart and Terrence Dunnuck of Sebring, Fla. Two sisters, DonnaBelle Lovejoy-Kinkade and Margaret Cooper; and a brother, James Dunnuck, are deceased.

Mrs. Black was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting.

JULIA M. FUSARO

May 19, 1912-April 5, 2001

ELKHART -- Julia M. Fusaro, 88, of 26153 Lombard Ave., died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday (April 5, 2001) in her home.

She was born in Huntington, N.Y., on May 19, 1912, the daughter of Angelo and Esperanza Bifulco. She married I. James Jiannolene in 1930; he died in 1932. On Sept. 12, 1936, she married Louis F. Fusaro; he died on Feb. 26, 1969.

Survivors include daughters Mrs. Robert (Fran) Gray of Elkhart, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Tweedy of Atlanta, and Mrs. Edward (Lucille) Meinsler of Hartford, Conn.; son Gino Fusaro of Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Mary Aurichio of Huntington Station, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, five brothers, two granddaughters and a great-grandson.

Friends and family may call for two hours prior to the 6:30 service tonight at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart Chapel. The Rev. John J. Overmyer of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will officiate, and burial will be at St. Vincent Cemetery.

Mrs. Fusaro was a homemaker and seamstress by trade. She was a member of St. Vincent's Church and the International Ladies Garment Workers Association. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed reading and gardening.

Memorials may be given to Elkhart Community Hospice.

Grace M. Bonfiglio

June 28, 1918-April 3, 2001

ELKHART -- Grace M. Bonfiglio, 82, formerly of 181 N. Elkhart Ave., died at 2 a.m. Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Rosewood Terrace.

Mrs. Bonfiglio, the daughter of Fred J. and Minnie J. (Kneibhler) Weikel, was born in Elkhart on June 28, 1918. She married Ernest J. Bonfiglio on July 22, 1950, and he died Jan. 1, 1986.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Bonfiglio of Elkhart; and two nieces, Janet McDowell of Goshen and Judy Smith of Indianapolis. A brother, Richard Weikel; and two sisters, Hazel Weikel and Helen McKrill, are deceased.

Friends may call for a half-hour before the service in the Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Rice Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Larry W. Kurtz with Faith United Methodist Church will officiate. Entombment will be in the Hope Mausoleum.

The Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bonfiglio retired after 20 years with CTS Corp. as a production worker.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.

Billie J. Estes

May 1, 1933-April 1, 2001

BRISTOL -- Friends of Billie J. "Bill" Estes may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elkhart Chapel of Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Michael Quirey at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Baptist Church, followed by burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. Estes, 67, of 16060 S.R. 120, died at 9:20 p.m. Sunday (April 1, 2001) at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born on May 1, 1933, in Sedalia, Mo., to William M. and Frances E. (Pummell) Estes and married Carolyn A. Scott in Versailles, Mo., on Aug. 29, 1954.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Timothy J. of Middlebury; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Peggy) Wittman of Smithton, Mo., and Mrs. James (Carolyn L.) Poss Jr. of Athens, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Randy (Judy) Roark of Elkhart; four sisters, Mrs. John (Roberta) Thompson of Green Ridge, Mo., Mrs. Robert (Ruby) Schell of Sedalia, Mrs. Donald (Rowena) Hoffman of Aitkin, Minn., and Mrs. Larry (Ruth) Moon of Cole Camp, Mo.; and four stepsisters, Plurcy Echols of Dreston, Mo., Pearlie Edgar of Sedalia, Mrs. Charles (Jean) Gish of Mexico, Mo., and Mrs. George (Patsy) McDougal of Independence, Mo.

One stepsister, Paulene Cramer, is deceased.

Mr. Estes lived in Missouri before moving to Bristol 35 years ago and worked as the head industrial maintenance mechanic at Amerimax Building Products. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a former member of the Elkhart County Beagle Club, St. Joseph County Beagle Club and Michiana Beagle Club and was a licensed field trial judge.

Memorials may be given to the church or United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
