DALEVILLE -- Mary Lois (Richman) Walters, 81, a lifelong resident of Salem Township, died April 6, 2001, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
She was born Oct. 16, 1919, the daughter of Oliver and Esther (Davis) Richman.
She was a graduate of Daleville High School, Class of 1937. She was a member of the Jolly Junior Home Ec. Club and the Pikes Peak Christian Church. She was a seamstress, an avid gardener and a grower of beautiful flowers as well as a statistician of the weather.
Survivors include her sister, Thelma (husband, Ralph "Hank") Reed; her brother, Wayne (wife, Norma) Richman, all of Yorktown; five nephews, Jan (wife, Jama) Richman, Jefry (wife, Kathy) Richman and Michael (wife, Beth) Reed, all of Daleville, James (wife, Kris) Reed of Indianapolis and Thomas (wife, Lynn) Reed of Fayetteville, Ga.; eight great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Walters, in 1981; and a niece, Jayne Reed, in 1955.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Ballard & Sons Funeral Home, 118 S. Fifth St., Daleville, officiated by the Rev. Gary McManus. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery in Muncie.
Clifford Tobias
MIDDLETOWN --Clifford Tobias, 64, died April 8, 2001, at St. John's Medical Center in Anderson.
Arrangements are pending at Ballard & Sons Funeral Home, Middletown.
Max M. Brizendine
ALBANY, Ga. -- Max Monroe Brizendine, 72, a native of Anderson, died April 6, 2001, at his residence.
In 1980, he moved from Anderson to Albany, Ga.
He was a retired employee of Delco Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson and Albany.
He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn (Hoagland) Brizendine of Albany, Ga.; two daughters, Carol B. Poor and Debbie B. Vaughn, both of Chesterfield; a son, Doug; his sister, Madge B. Hancock of Anderson; three brothers, Loren Brizendine of Okeechobee, Fla., and James Robert Brizendine and Jack Brizendine, both of Anderson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mace Brizendine, and a sister, Madonna B. Bronnenberg.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Kimbrell-Stern Mortuary and Crematory, 1503 Dawson St., Albany, Ga., officiated by the Rev. John Rollins. Cremation was chosen. A second memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Colonial United Methodist Church, 538 E. 31st Street, Anderson.

Merle W. Wilhite
Merle W. Wilhite, 88, of Anderson, died April 7, 2001, at Community Hospital Anderson after a brief illness.
He was born June 27, 1912, in Crawfordsville and lived in this area since 1948.
In 1977, he retired as a 4-Color Cameraman from Warner Press.
He was an Army veteran of World War II who served in Okinawa.
He was a member of American Legion Post 127 in Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dortha (Hayes) Wilhite of Anderson; his brother, Jim (wife, Luanna) Wilhite of Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Emma Wilhite of Anderson and Virginia Wilhite of California; two nephews, John Wilhite of Monticello and Danny Wilhite of New Mexico; a niece, Carol Sue Nagy of Michigan; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Also surviving are special friends, June Bryson, Phil VanHorn and Harold and Ruby Hagan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. and Minnie (Williams) Wilhite; and three brothers, Richard, Robert and Raymond Wilhite.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Sam Muncy. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the South Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or to the Salvation Army.
Frances I. Ringer
FORTVILLE -- Frances I. (Dorsey) Ringer, 82, formerly of Fishers, died April 6, 2001, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, John W. (wife, Denise) Ringer and Steven R. (wife, Pat) Ringer; a daughter, Jackie S. (husband, Jack) Harper; two brothers, Lloyd Dorsey and Tom Rogers; two sisters, June McFarland and Jewel Walker; a foster child, Eugene Cooper; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fishers United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Mike Reed and her grandson, Pastor Jason Harper. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fishers.
Visitation hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fishers United Methodist Church.
Kaitlyn N. Fullen
Our little angel, Kaitlyn Nicole Fullen, age 16 months, of Anderson, died April 6, 2001, at her residence due to injuries sustained at birth.
She was born Dec. 8, 1999, in Anderson, the daughter of Jason S. and Jennifer (Burton) Fullen of Anderson.
Survivors include her parents; her paternal grandparents, Aurthur Eugene and Ethel Faye Fullen of Anderson; her maternal grandparents, Charles "Chuck" and Tomya Burton of Anderson; great-grandparents, Tom and Darlene Sheets and Betty (Burton) Kelly all of Anderson; three aunts, Angie Fullen (and friend, Rick Wilson) of Iowa, Robin Burton (and friend, Shane Cullen) of Anderson and Lori (husband, Sean) Lakes of Iowa; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by two uncles, James Fullen and Aaron Fullen; and great-grandparents, Lewis and Virginia Brown, Ernest and Martha Fullen, Jerry Burton and William Kelly.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, North Chapel, 6061 State Road 9 North, Alexandria, officiated by the Rev. Jim Harrison. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
Calling hours are 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the North Chapel.

Crystal L. Robbins
GREENFIELD -- Crystal L. Robbins, 89, died April 6, 2001, at Regency Place Convalescent Center in Greenfield.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Fortville Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Erwin Robbins and Robert Robbins; a daughter, Gayle Davis; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, north of Fortville, officiated by the Rev. Pat Mooney.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pasco Memorial Mortuary, 1780 W. Main St., Greenfield.
Betty M. Kendall
PENDLETON -- Betty M. (McCoy) Kendall, 71, Pendleton, died April 2, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Jackson County, Ind., and lived in the Anderson-Pendleton area most of her life. She retired on March 1, 1988, from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 11 years of employment.
She was a member of United Auto Workers Local 663. She was active in Boy Scouts and the Pendleton Little League.
Survivors include three sons, Paul (wife, Neica) Kendall of Pendleton, Gary (wife, Angie) Kendall of Anderson and Dallas (wife, Jeanie) Kendall of Pendleton; brother, Charles McCoy of Anderson; sister, Mae Swift of Alabama; seven grandchildren, Josh Kendall, Kevin Kendall, Kory Kendall, Jordan Kendall, Samantha Kendall, Tiffenie Kendall and Lea Kendall; and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are special friends, Bob and Nadine Lasley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Kendall, Nov. 1, 1999; parents, Albert and Lucy (Fleenor) McCoy; and 10 brothers and sisters.
There will be no services. Cremation will take place.
Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, Anderson.

ALEXANDRIA -- Daniel J. "Danny" Gaither, 62, died April 6, 2001, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Carolyn M. Retherford, 77, Anderson, died April 4, 2001, in Dade City, Fla.

Ralph S. Jack
ELWOOD -- Ralph S. Jack, 83, Elwood, died April 5, 2001, at Community Hospital in Anderson after a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 29, 1917, in Elwood, and lived in the Elwood community all of his life. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in Anderson.
He was a member of Bethany Christian Church in Anderson and a graduate of Frankton High School. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Madonna (Riegel) Jack of Elwood, whom he married May 11, 1984; daughter, Jone Jack of Frankton; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Delong of Atlanta; stepson, Bill Walsh of Windfall; brother, Allen Jack of Elwood; two sisters, Ruth Musick and Jean Bradley, both of Elwood; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armel and Shirley (Driscol) Jack; and a brother, Wayne Jack.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Copher & Fesler Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Bell of Bethany Christian Church in Anderson and family member, Harold Twellman, officiating.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Christian church Building Fund.
Daniel J. Gaither
ALEXANDRIA -- Daniel J. "Danny" Gaither, 62, died April 6, 2001, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, following a four and one-half year illness.
He was born Nov. 20, 1938, in Alexandria and was a lifelong Madison County resident.
He was a retired school teacher, a gospel music artist and, most recently, was employed by the Gaither Music Co. in Alexandria.
He was a graduate of Alexandria High School, Class of 1956, and Ball State University. He was the recipient of numerous Grammy and Dove awards and, in 1999, was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
His home church was the Chesterfield Community Church of God, where he served as minister of music.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria "Yvonne" (Furnish) Gaither of Alexandria, whom he married Sept. 24, 1991, in Alexandria; his parents, George and Lela (Hartwell) Gaither of Alexandria; three children, Nick Gaither of French Lick, Trina (husband, Eric) Oren and Mitch Gaither, all of Anderson; his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Gloria Gaither of Alexandria; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Don Addison of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Morgan, MacKenzie, A. J., Gabriel and Stephanie; three brothers-in-law, Greg Furnish of Plainfield, Carroll Furnish of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Jeff Furnish of English; a sister-in-law, Diane Furnish of Clarksville, Tenn.; in-laws, Maria and Amanuel Furnish of Chesterfield, a paternal uncle, Johnnie Sheets; a maternal uncle, Joe Hartwell; two maternal aunts, Annie Sheets and Mary Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Trina Gaither.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1401 S. Harrison St., Alexandria, officiated by Dr. C. D. Oliver of the Chesterfield Community Church of God. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Alexandria.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Carolyn M. Retherford
Carolyn M. (Davis) Retherford, 77, of Anderson, died April 4, 2001, at Pasco Regional Hospital in Dade City, Fla., after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Mooreland and lived in the area most of her life.
She was a homemaker.
She loved to do craftwork and made many different varieties. She was a full-time grandma and loved retirement. She spent the last 21 winters in Florida.
Survivors include her husband, Roscoe "Rocky" Retherford, whom she married April 14, 1942, in Daleville; her son, Larry (wife, Jodi) Retherford of Summitville; two daughters, Rosalie (husband, Larry) Crouch of Anderson and Martha E. Jones of Macy; her mother, Cleo Davis of New Castle; three brothers, Keith Davis and Dale Davis, both of New Castle, and Norman Davis of Richmond; two sisters, Nina McCall of Johnstown and Beverly Abshire of Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Darrin (wife, Donna) Jones, Tim Jones, Kristi See, Mendy Hodges, Mark (wife, Patty) Crouch, Michelle (husband, Michael) Ball, Marji Carr, Kelly Birkla (and her special friend, Matt Idlewine), Joe (wife, Teresa) Retherford and Sherry (husband, Pat) Drinan; 15 great-grandchildren, Brantley J. See, Rachel L. See, Bobby S. Jones, Audrey Birkla, Corey Hamilton, Jessie Retherford, Maggie Brinan, Jeremy (wife, Erin) Stafford, Jeff Brewster, Dave Hodges, Anna Crouch, Olivia Ball, Amelia Ball, Billy Carr and Delan Carr; three great-great-grandchildren, Tyler Stafford, Cortney Stafford and Valorie Stafford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Davis; a brother, Carroll Davis; and a sister, Kathlyn Swarm.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Clifton Richardson. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.

ELWOOD -- Roma E. LeCount, 83, of Elwood, died April 6, 2001, at Community Hospital Anderson, after a brief illness.
She was born June 17, 1917, in LaGrange County.
She was a homemaker.
She was a graduate of Topeka High School. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser; a 61-year member of the Farm Bureau of Madison County and of the Women's Leader of the Boone Township Farm Bureau; and a member of the Jolly Keenagers at Grace Baptist Church in Anderson.
Survivors include her son, David (wife, Carolyn) LeCount of Elwood; her daughter, LaVonne (husband, Larry) Benton of Columbia City; her sister, Opal Dickerson of Summitville; five grandchildren, Ben (wife, Anita) LeCount of Elwood, Ed LeCount and Luanne (husband, Timothy) Brown, all of Indianapolis; Scott (wife, Melinda) Benton of Frankton; and Alisa (husband, Andres) Briones of Columbia City; seven great-grandchildren, Cody and Ashley LeCount, Kyle, Blake and Lindsay Brown and Maria and Alexus Briones; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Kris and Cheri Pierce of Greenwood; and a granddaughter-in-law, Cathy LeCount of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora E. and Lela (Day) Cole; her husband, Laurence B. LeCount, whom she married March 7, 1937, and who died Sept. 15, 1982; a sister, Uva Cole; and two brothers, Arthur Cole and Gaynell Cole.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Copher & Fesler Funeral Home, 415 S. Anderson St., Elwood, officiated by Pastors Terry Bishir and Pete Frank of the Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser. Burial will be in the Forrestville Cemetery in northern Madison County.
Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Deloris E. Keesling
Deloris E. "Dee" Keesling, 80, of Anderson, died April 6, 2001, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 15, 1921, in Alexandria, the daughter of George and Nora (Gipson) Ray. She resided in Anderson since 1989, moving here from Oaklandon. She was a former Alexandria resident.
She was a graduate of Alexandria High School, Class of 1938. In 1962, she and her husband, Jack, bought 235 acres of property in Oaklandon and developed the Old Oakland Golf Club. As with any new business, the first few years of operation were difficult and presented numerous obstacles. Dee, however, enjoyed the challenge and together, she and Jack built the club into having more than 750 members. She was active in the management of the club but thoroughly enjoyed playing golf as well. In later years, she used golfing as an outreach and opened her home to Bible studies. During the off-season at the golf course, she and her husband, who had become a licensed pilot, flew all over the country. The Keeslings sold the golf club in 1986. Dee became a successful real estate broker for several agencies in Oaklandon and Anderson. At one time, she had been an accomplished bowler. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alexandria.
Survivors include her husband, John "Jack" Keesling, whom she married Oct. 11, 1962; her sister, Vivian Runyon Andrew of Alexandria; her brother, Murl (wife, Marge) Ray of Alexandria; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nora (Gipson) Ray; four brothers, Arlie Ray, Robert Ray, Walt Ray and Alvia Allen; and three sisters, Fedora Dickey, Flossie Taylor and Erma Shores.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, 1600 S. Indiana 9, Alexandria, officiated by the Rev. Clifton Richardson, pastor. Graveside services will follow at 11:45 a.m. in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Oaklandon.
Visitation hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Alexandria through the funeral home.
