BERNICE J. McCARTNEY, 88, of Indianapolis, died October 29, 2003.

Mrs. McCartney was a graduate of Marion General School of Nursing in 1938. She worked as a registered Nurse at Wishard Hospital for 4 years. She was a member of First Friends Congregation.

Her husband Dr. Donald H. McCartney preceded in death. Survivors include her children Frances Wendel of Indianapolis, Susan J. Lee of Martinsville and Donald H. McCartney, Jr., of Green Bay, Wisconsin; brother Charles Eugene Weicht; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and one step-grandson.

Friends may call Friday, October 31, 2003, 4 to 8 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Broad Ripple. Graveside Services will be conducted November 1, 2003, at 11 a.m. in Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Services: Saturday, January 17 at 11 a.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Washington Park North, with calling from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., prior to services. THOMAS G. ENGELKING, 61, Indianapolis, passed away quietly in his sleep on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

He was preceded in death by his parents Irven W. and Virginia (Parker) Engelking.

Thomas was a driver for Mechanics Laundry retiring in 1979.

He is survived by Aunt and Uncle, Mary and Raymond Engelking, his brother James E. Engelking, niece and nephew Tracy and Todd J. Engelking, and adoptive son Ed (Teresa) Mitchell, and caregiver Bob Hill.

Services will be Sat., Jan. 17, 2 p.m. Friends may call on Friday 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 16, at Legacy funeral Alternatives at Memorial Park. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Charles W. Tally
Born on Jan. 27, 1920

CHARLES W. TALLY, 82, died January 13, 2004.

He retired as a supervisor at Allisons after 43 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was a member of the Zion U.C.C., Speedway Masonic Lodge, Scottish rite, Murat Shrine, and the Raceway Bowling League.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 31 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Speedway.

Survivors include his wife Emily R. (Fellman) Tally; children Charles W. Tally, Jr., and Karen L. King; and his 5 grandchildren.

BETTY ANN RICHARDS CAPP, 82, Sebring, Florida, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Jan. 18, 2004.

Betty was born Jan. 22, 1921, in Indianapolis to William and Julia (Wolf) Richards, who preceded her in death. Betty was a housewife and also worked part-time at Sam’s Club. She was Past Maharanee and secretary of the Smyrna Shrine Guild and a member of the Ladies Hillbilly Band.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas M. Capp. She is survived by her sons Skyler Webster of Greenfield, Lane Capp of Sebring, FL, Steve Capp of Indianapolis; daughters Sheryl Fultz and Sally McKenna of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Washington Park East, with calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Entombment: Washington Park East Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Smyrna Shrine Education Fund.

Robert A. Burton

Oct. 22, 1918 -- July 24, 2003

Robert A. Burton, 84, died July 24, 2003, at Miller's Merry Manor in Middletown after an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 22, 1918, in Anderson, the son of Bryon Robert and Emma (Imel) Burton. He resided in the Anderson area most of his life.

He was a retired millwright from Delco Remy, and had previously worked for Link Belt, Ball Bros., and Nicholson File.

He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662 and a past member of the National Campers and Hikers Association and the Madison County React. He served with the Army Air Corp during World War II, in the North Africa Campaign. He was a graduate of Anderson High School where he was a member of the football team.

He was an avid fisherman and lover of the outdoors.

Survivors include daughters, Dolores (Dale) Cook, Judith Robbins, and Rosie (Chuck) Graybill, all of Anderson, and Kathy (Bob) Lerch of Davis, Ill.; a son, Robt. E. Lee (Elissa) Burton, also of Anderson; grandchildren, Joel (Lisa) Robbins of Yorktown, Jenny (Mike) Payne of Middletown, Jeff (LeAnn) Kabrich of Elwood, Todd Kabrich of Anderson, Renee Leonard of Columbus, Lori Blackford of Anderson, Melissa Lerch of Davis, Ill., Michele Mickey of Anderson, and Bryon Cook with the U.S. Navy; stepgrandchildren, Cory (Sheryl) Graybill of Indianapolis, Dorie Graybill of Indianapolis, Michael (Karie) Lerch of Machesney Park, Ill., Jonathon (Betty) Lerch of Loves Park, Ill., Spc. Nathan Lerch, with the U.S. Army, stationed in Iraq, (Chris) Loves Park, Ill., and Matthew Lerch of South Beloit, Ill., Robert Smith of Greenfield, William Zerkel of Anderson and Stacy (Bill) Huffman of Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jessica Kabrich of North Webster, Morgan and Kayla Kabrich of Elwood, Andrew and Adam Payne of Middletown, Wade and Kyle Robbins of Yorktown, Chandler Blackford of Anderson, Jonathon Kabrich of Anderson, Jonathon and James Leonard of Columbus and Amber Mickey of Anderson; stepgrandchildren, Caitlyn, Hailey, Hunter and Cody Graybill of Indianapolis, Ladonna, Michael and Hunter Lerch of Machesney Park, Ill., Amber and Jonny Lerch of Loves Park, Ill. sister, Elnora Robertson of Anderson; several nephews; a niece; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Betty Whetsel Burton in October 2001; parents, Robert and Emma Burton; brother, Gene Burton; and sister, Evelyn Burton.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. Richard True officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery where military graveside rites will be presented by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266 and the American Legion Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Marlyn McCullough, 69, of Anderson, died July 26, 2003, at Community Hospital Anderson. Arrangements are pending at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson.

Harriet V. Hudson

Harriet V. Hudson, 84, of Anderson, died July 24, 2003, at St. John's Medical Center, Anderson.

In 1950, she retired from Delco Remy Div. of General Motors, Anderson, after 30 years of employment.

She was a member of U.A.W.-C.I.O. 662.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Marvin Baker. Burial will take place at East Maplewood Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
