ALEXANDRIA - Hubert D. “Hub” Patz, 75, Alexandria, died Jan. 23, 2007, at Community Hospital in Anderson after an extended illness.

Arrangements are pending at Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Marvin Quear

Nov. 24, 1931 - Jan. 27, 2006

FRANKTON - Marvin E. Quear, 74, died Jan. 27, 2006, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson, following an extended illness.

He was born on Nov. 24, 1931, in Arcadia to the late Eugene and Edna (Webb) Quear.

On March 31, 1950, he married Marjorie Lawhon.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Frankton American Legion and attended the Frankton Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie (Lawhon) Quear; two daughters, Debra and husband Darrell Arms of Tennessee and Brenda Sumner of Frankton; two sons, Michael and wife Linda Quear of Pendleton and Steven and Sharon Quear of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren, Kierston Sumner, Megan Hamby, Andrew Sumner, Jesse Arms, Ryan, Christine & Matthew Quear, Lori Rottman, David and Tyler Quear; and four great-grandchildren, Taybor, Hailey, Braden and Parker.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Edna (Webb) Quear; and a son, Joseph Quear.

Arrangements are being handled by Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 Sigler St., Frankton, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Alvin Covell. Interment will take place at K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Frankton, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Frankton American Legion & the Elwood V.F.W.

Kathryn A. Ebert

Jan. 11, 1915 - Jan. 28, 2006

FAIRMOUNT - Kathryn A. Ebert, 91, died Jan. 28, 2006, at Community Hospital Anderson, after a brief illness.

Kathryn was born in Manchester, N.H., Jan. 11, 1915, and was the daughter of Emile and Pearl (Miller) Pernod. On July 5, 1939, she married Ralph Ebert, who preceded her in death.

Kathryn was a retired employee of the Ben Franklin Variety Store in Fairmount.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Kathy) McFerran; her son Mark D. Ebert; sister, Willie and husband Paul Malaska; three grandchildren, Nick McFerran, Brent McFerran and David Ebert; and six great-grandchildren, Monica, Torie, Elise, Cody, Kirstynn and Cristian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, David A. Ebert and two brothers.

Services will 11 a.m. today at Whetsel Funeral Service, 1503 S. Park Ave., Alexandria, officiated by the Rev. Paul Cochran. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

Memorial contributions may be made, through the funeral home, to the Church of St. Mary’s Building Fund.

Milford W. Keith Jr.

June 13, 1926 - Jan. 28, 2006

CHESTERFIELD - Milford W. “Mel” Keith Jr., 79, of Chesterfield, died Jan. 28, 2006, at Millers Merry Manor after an extended illness.

He was born June 13, 1926, in New Castle and lived in Anderson for most of his adult life.

He worked as a meat cutter for Kroger Supermarket and in management with the Elks Lodge 209 in Anderson, where he also served as secretary. He also served as State Secretary of the Elks Lodge for 25 years. He was the recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash which is awarded by the governor of Indiana.

He was a graduate of New Castle High School.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge 209 in Anderson where he served twice as the Exalted Ruler, Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge 77 F. & A.M., and the Madison County Shrine Club

He is survived by his daughter: Kathy and husband, Phil Butler of Buffalo, N.Y.; stepdaughters, Shari and husband, Mike Moore of Anderson and their children, Tiffany Alderfer of Muncie and Brittany Moore of Anderson, Dawn and husband, Thom Vanderbur of Indianapolis, and their daughter, Megan Vanderbur of Indianapolis, Loreli and husband, Jeff Shreves of Anderson, and their children, Ben and Jennifer of Anderson, Christina Farlow and her son, Steven Woodcox, of Anderson; and Monica and husband, Bill Harmon of Anderson; a brother, Jack and wife, Gay Keith of New Castle; granddaughter: Alicyn Butler of Austin, Texas; his girlfriend, Rosella Huff; and nephews, Barry Keith, Kevin Keith, and Kent and wife, Krista Keith and their children, Audrey and Sarah Keith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milford W. Keith, Sr. and Sarah J. “Sally” (Wallace) Keith; and a brother, John Keith.

Services will be 7 p.m. today at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel, with a member of the Elk’s Lodge #209 officiating.

There will be a 10 a.m. graveside service Thursday at South Mound Cemetery, New Castle.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home’s South Chapel.

There will be both a Masonic and and Elks Lodge service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Lodge 209.

John P. McCrory

Nov. 23, 1923 - Jan. 29, 2006

FISHERS - John P. McCrory, 82, of Fishers, died Jan. 29, 2006, at the Carmel Care Center.

He retired from the Indiana State Police in 1962, after that he worked in the marketing department of Best Lock. He was a veteran.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Sue (Richard) Coleson; two sons, James Lee (Jan) McCrory and Michael D. (LeEllen) McCrory; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary with Rev. Jim Storey officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Carol Sue Smith

Aug. 31, 1945 - Jan. 28, 2006

FREELANDVILLE, Ind. - Carol Sue Smith, 60, of Freelandville, died Janu. 28, 2006. She was a former Anderson resident.

She worked in home health care for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Smith; four sisters and their husbands, Donna Jean and Max Hoppes, Jalna and Larry Real, Brenda and Tommy Brucher, and Reta Lou Coburn; three brothers and their wives, Abner and Linda Clark, Willie and Angela Clark, Junior Lee and Sandy Smith; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Duesterburg Funeral Home in Bicknell with burial in Freelandville.

Max Muncy

Oct. 8, 1943 - Jan. 29, 2006

EDGEWOOD, Ill. - Max Muncy, 62, of Edgewood, Ill., died Jan. 29, 2006, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

He was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Rushville, the son of Roy E. and Hattie (Archer) Muncy.

He was owner and operator of Muncy’s Auto Credit, Altamont, Ill. He had served in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, DeeDee (Smith) Muncy, whom he married Oct. 26, 1996; sons, Christopher Muncy and wife, Valorie of Anderson, Michael Gray of Warsaw and Travis, Kelly and Cody Voelker all of Edgewood, Ill.; daughters, Trace Wray and husband, Douglas of Naples, Fla., Danielle Burton and husband, Josh of Shelbyville and Darci Lawson and husband, Billy of Indianapolis; brother, Marvin Muncy and wife, Martha of Anderson; grandchildren, twin granddaughters, Crystal and Chasity Wray, Natasha Wray, Jacob Millikan, Bradley Kindred, Trinity Muncy, Zachary Gray, Justin Gray, Joshlynn Burton, Julie Lawson, Travis Shaw and William Lawson; great-grandchild, Dominic Sanchez Wray.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Aaron Muncy.

Services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gieseking Funeral Home, 208 N. 2nd St., Altamont, Ill., with Robert Tucker officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Cancer Center or the donor’s choice.

Kenneth E. Rich

Sept. 3, 1938 - Jan. 31, 2006

Kenneth E. Rich, 67, died Jan. 31, 2006, at St. John’s Medical Center in Anderson after an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Anderson and was a lifelong resident of Anderson.

He retired from Nicholson File and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his companion of 26 years, Jane McMillan of Anderson; her children, Robert (wife, Debra) Farrington Jr. of Anderson, and Elizabeth (husband, Tim) Tharp of Anderson; their children, Deanna Wheeldon, Sean Richardson, Phillip Hoover, Amanda Hunsburger and Shanda Tharp; sister, Nondia (husband, Bobby) Smith of Houston, Texas; nephews, Gene (wife, Jeanette) Rich, Billy (wife, Rochelle) Goodner, Willie (wife, Judy) Potter and Dennis (wife, Carol) Potter; nieces, Doris Smith and Wanda (husband, Joe) Rogers; and great-nephews, Austin Rogers and Trenton Rogers.

Also surviving are special children, Shaun Claborn, Troy Claborn, Michael Patton, Kaylee Gooding, Vanessa Patterson, Danielle Gooding, Thomas Cassell; and friends, Sue and Robert Webb, Josh and Curtis Garretson, Terry Wells, Sherry Ivy, Robert Farrington Sr., Jack and Glenda Claborn and Sarah Frances Bishop.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Laura Rich; brothers, Arthur Rich and Bobby Rich; and sisters, Glennia Rich, Elizabeth Potter and Shirley Goodner.

Services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary McCaslin officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ralph A. Gephart

July 23, 1920 - Feb. 1, 2006

Ralph A. Gephart, 85, Anderson, passed away Feb. 1, 2006, at Community Hospital in Anderson.

He was born July 23, 1920 in Anderson, the son of Pierre and Martha (Main) Gephart. Ralph lived all of his life here, graduating from Anderson High School in 1938 and General Motors Institute. He was an engineer for 42 years with Delco Remy retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fellowship Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Shrine Temple of Indianapolis, Madison County Shrine Club and the Elks Lodge 209.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and Dan Keiter of McCordsville; a sister, Mildred Gates of Anderson; special friend, Virginia Musser of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lora E. Gephart; a daughter, Marcy Gephart; and three brothers, Pierre Gephart, Lewis Gephart and Max Gephart.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. William Mathys officiating with cremation to follow. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Cancer Society or the First United Methodist Church.

Kenneth E. Rich

Kenneth E. Rich, 67, Anderson, died Jan. 31, 2006, at St. John’s Medical Center.

Emza M. Winkle

Jan. 30, 1917 - Jan. 31, 2006

Emza M. (Croson) Winkle, 89, Anderson, passed away Jan. 31, 2006, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 30, 1917, in Delaware County, the daughter of William B. and Oyta M. (Hupp) Croson. She was a 1934 graduate of Harrison Township High School in Delaware County and lived there until 1968. She then moved to Tippecanoe Lake and later to Anderson in 1972.

She attended IUPUI to receive her real estate license and worked for Betty Land Real Estate, retiring in 1990.

Survivors include two sons, Bill S. and wife Mary Ann Winkle of Lemon Lake, Ind., and Ronald R. and wife Diana Winkle of Anderson; seven grandchildren, Tammy and husband Brent Bramwell, Kristy and husband Josh Sroufe, Ryan Winkle and fiancé Wendy, Jeff and wife Terri Winkle, Lisa and husband Jonathon Lauw, Steven and wife Darcie Winkle and Jason Winkle; a sister-in-law, Peggy Butler of Fort Wayne; one niece, Phyllis Ancil; and a close friend, Melva Keesling of Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Winkle, in 1981.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with the Rev. Susan Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Linda L. Hunter

March 17, 1945 - Jan. 31, 2006

Linda L. (Combes) Hunter, 60, Anderson, gave up her battle with cancer to walk with God on Jan. 31, 2006, at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born March 17, 1945, in Anderson and resided in Anderson all of her life. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her three children, Eric Combes of Tennessee, Traci Schmitt of Richmond and Randy Reeves of Anderson; two sisters, Patricha Baronowski of Cookville, Tenn., and Judith Fulton of Anderson; one brother, Terry Combes of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and special friends, Thelma Hatter and Reba Pring.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Hunter; and her mother, Margaret Parrish.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with the Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the South Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Hospital or St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.

Jack E. Forehand

April 17, 1931 - Jan. 31, 2006

CLERMONT, Fla. - Jack E. Forehand, 74, Clermont, Fla., died Jan. 31, 2006, at South Lake Hospital in Clermont, Fla., after a brief illness.

He was born April 17, 1931 in Jonesboro and lived most of his life in Anderson moving to Florida in 1986.

He was a machinist at Delco Remy for 32 years before retiring in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Mable (Butler) Forehand of Clermont, Fla., whom he married Oct. 8, 1994, in Clermont, Fla.; six children and spouses, James Forehand of Elkmont, Ala., Teresa Forehand and significant other, Roger Neatherly of Groveland, Fla., Charles and Kerrie Forehand of Anderson, Ind., Eddie and Lori Vickery of Moss, Tenn., Mary and Jeff Lee of Dover, Tenn., and Shirley and Jason Taise of Cookeville, Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Glenda Harrell of Blanchard, Okla.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Ann Morehead of Orlando, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita (Morehead) Forehand.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Kent Stookey of Bethany Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
