Services for Jodi Michelle Schaaf, 36, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
She died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, in her residence.
Born Jan. 9, 1972, in San Bernardino, Calif., she was the daughter of Barbara Mann.
She was married August 15, 1998, in Logansport, to James W. Schaaf.
She was employed as a server at Bob Evans of Logansport.
Jodi’s love for life showed through her actions, enthusiasms and infectious smile (as her grandpa would always call her “Smiley”)! She surrounded herself with people that mattered most to her, and truly loved her many years working at the Eagles Lodge and the time she has been with Bob Evans.
Surviving are husband, James W. Schaaf, Logansport; son, Bobby Joe Burris Jr., Logansport; daughters, Amanda Kae Burris, Logansport; and Ashlee Nichole Burris, Logansport; mother, Barbara Anderson, and husband, Shorty, Caldwell, Idaho; grandmother, Helen Mann, Caldwell, Idaho; brothers, Greg Beebe, Meridian, Idaho; and Art Beebe, and wife, Michelle, Castlerock, Wash.; sisters, Helen Sinclair, Meridian, Idaho; and Jacki Brumett, and husband, Jason, Logansport; sister-in-law, Tina Smith, Peru; father and mothers-in-law, Dale and Cindy Schaaf, Peru; Steve and Kathy Kuhn, Kokomo; close friend, Cindy Boucher and Mark, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
Grandfather, Robert Mann, and two infant daughters, Kassandra Ann and Natasha Dawn, preceded in death.
Pastor Logan Sparling will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Max L. Starkey
CAMDEN - Services for Max L. Starkey, 67, Camden, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Cree Funeral Home.
He died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, in his residence.
Born Jan. 7, 1941, in Logansport, he was the son of Jesse and Elsie Horn Starkey. He was married Oct. 24, 1992, in Navada, to Frances Elaine Butcher, who survives.
A 1959 graduate of Camden High School, Max was an assembler at T.M. Morris for five years. Before that he worked for White Rodgers as a fork truck operator for 18 years, and before that he was a janitor at Camden Elementary School for 13 years.
He loved Purdue and Indiana Pacers basketball, enjoyed antique tractors and spending time with his grandchildren.
Also surviving are stepson, Rob Antrim, Kokomo; stepdaughter, Aundria Stout, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; friends, Joan and Rob Upton, Cindy Van Meter, Darlene Bowen, Tommy Reed and Dot Fogle; and three grandchildren.
Pastor Dale Larson will officiate. Burial will be in Paint Creek Cemetery, Camden.

Nancy L. Short
Nancy L. Short, 73, Logansport, died at 7:11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born July 20, 1934, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Cecil H. and Alice C. Lyons Wise. She was married July 6, 1957, in Logansport, to Junior Short, who preceded in death Aug. 2, 2006.
Nancy retired in 1998 from Logansport Memorial Hospital, working in the food service department.
She enjoyed and was very good at cooking and baking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren whom she spoiled so well.
Surviving are daughter, Deb L. Deitrich, Logansport; son, Jim Short and wife, Amanda, Logansport; grandsons, Jason Deitrich and wife, Amy, Lafayette, Ryan Deitrich and wife, Jessica, and Paul Short, all of Logansport; great-grandson, Jacob Ryan Deitrich, Logansport; and great-granddaughter, Ava Marie Deitrich, Lafayette.
There will be no services. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
Griffin Scott Huffman
Services for Griffin Scott Huffman, 3 months, Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Logansport First Assembly of God Church.
He passed away at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis.
Born Sept. 25, 2007, in Dukes Hospital in Peru, he was the son of Vincent Scott and Robin Faith Townsend Huffman.
Surviving are his parents, Logansport; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Townsend, Rochester; maternal grandparents, Paul Townsend and his wife, Melba, Roann; maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Bonnie Townsend, Rochester; paternal grandmother, Luella Huffman, Frankton; paternal great-grandmother, Charlotte Turner, Anderson; aunts and uncles, Amy and K.J. Blackburn, Rochester, and Julie Hughes, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; cousins, Grant, Annie and Carlee Blackburn; and a number of great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents, Fay and Mildred Bathrick; paternal grandfather, Randall Scott Huffman; and paternal great- grandparents, Robert and Birtie Porter.
Pastor Andy Weil will officiate. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery, Rochester.

Kenneth Wayne Hart
Services for Kenneth Wayne Hart, 60, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, in St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, Indianapolis.
Born Sept. 15, 1947, in Russell, Ark., he was the son of Ray Douglas and Joy Hicks Hart. He was married March 19, 1972, in Logansport, to Ruby H. Hardy, who survives.
Kenny was formerly employed at Alpha Industries and EIS.
Once Kenny was forced into disability from his job at EIS, due to his health, you would find him in his garage working on mowers, in the house working on his diecast cars, collecting watches or out on his motorized bicycle in search of goodies.
Also surviving are daughter, Angela Tincher, Logansport; son, David Hart and wife, Tami, Logansport; brother, Elder Hart and wife, Glenda, Arkansas; sisters, Tammie Lowery and husband, Jack, and Karen Hart, all of Logansport; six granddaughters, Abigail, Ashley, Amber, Alyssa, Mikayla and Miranda; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Hart; one brother, J.D. Hart; and one sister, Jean Belford.
The Revs. David Payton and Josh Bault will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

She died at 4:56 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, in Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus.
Father James Goodrum will officiate at the services. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Reynolds.

Zarita A. McCurry Morris

She died at 1:36 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2007, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

Marjorie M. Carr
Services for Marjorie M. Carr, 93, Logansport, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
She died at 4:26 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, in WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born July 24, 1914, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Daniel R. and Daisy F. Meredith Carr.
Marge was well-known in the Logansport area as an organist and pianist. She played with the Dick Mordenti Band and also entertained at the Ambers, Elks, Pajama Lounge and the Madam Carroll, as well as other places. In earlier years she entertained in Clearwater Beach, Fla. She also enjoyed listening to Cubs games.
Surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Sam Goodale, Washington, Ill.; nieces and nephews, Patricia and Jerry Sandover, Cathy and Robert Greenburg, Mark Reitemeier, Nancy and Earl Vines, and Samuel and Susan Goodale; brother-in-law, James Corkey, Michigan; special cousin, Eileen Hizer, along with several other cousins; and friends, Margaret Ann “Toots” and Jack Harvey, and Rev. Milford and Ruth Smith.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Reitemeier and Dorothy Corkey.
The Rev. Milford Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery, Leiters Ford.

H. Arthur ‘Art’ Kitchel
LAFAYETTE - A memorial service for H. Arthur “Art” Kitchel, 95, West Lafayette, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fisher-Loy Funeral Home.
He died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, in St. Elizabeth Hospital.
He was born at his farm home on July 22, 1912, in Cass County, and was the fourth child of Edgar and Mary Bechtelheimer Kitchel. On Sept. 1, 1937, he was married to Mary Alice Nelson, his high school sweetheart, after a long courtship during the Depression. She preceded in death Jan. 1, 2004. He and his wife, Mary Alice, moved from Logansport to Westminster Village in January 1998.
Art graduated from Young America High School in 1930 and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago.
During his early years, he worked for the neighboring farmers during the Depression. After graduation from high school, he worked for International Harvester Company in Logansport.
In February 1953, he and his future partner, Ray Jackson, purchased the dealership and changed the name to “Jackson-Kitchel,” where they sold and repaired large farm equipment and Frigidare appliances. The business grew to include large semi tractor trailer overhaul and repair and was moved from 510 High St. to a 10-acre lot on U.S. 24 West in Logansport. He retired in January 1977.
Art was a member of Kiwanis Club and Elks Lodge 66. He served on the board of directors of the Logansport-Cass County Chamber of Commerce, Cass County 4-H Association and Cass County Fair Association.
He was a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church in Logansport and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He served in many capacities within the church, including trustee and treasurer. At Westminster Village he volunteered in many areas and participated in the choir and men’s group. After moving to West Lafayette, he and Mary attended Covenant Presbyterian Church.
He enjoyed 25 years of Lake Michigan summers, especially walking the beach, riding the waves with his family, and watching the sunsets. Other passions included fishing with friends, working with his hands, photography, reading non-fiction books, and watching sports on television. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching Big Ten sports - particularly IU teams, the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs.
Surviving are one daughter, Janis Ditto and husband, Dr. Ron Ditto; three granddaughters, Erinn Speer and husband, Kurtis, Indianapolis, Meredith Haines and husband, Guenter, Strongsville, Ohio, and Laura Ditto, Evanston, Ill; one grandson, Marc Ditto and wife, Beth, Indianapolis; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alice and husband, Bernard Study, Oxford, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Jeanette, Rose, Kathryn and Eva, and three brothers, Edward, Victor and Lawrence.
Burial will be private on Friday at Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
Friends may call one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Jeffrey J. Linback
A memorial service for Jeffrey J. Linback, 39, Logansport, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
He died at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15. 2008, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was the son of Robert Linback and the late Mary Boehme Linback. His father survives in Logansport.
Jeffrey resided at Camelot Care Center for many years. He participated in Special Olympics in the wheelchair racing competition. He also enjoyed music.
Surviving with his father are four sisters, Marsha Linback, Sherry Linback and Kelly Royer, all of Logansport, and Mellissa Townsend, Kokomo; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother, Robert.
Friends may call one hour before services Friday at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Special Olympics and the Camelot Care Center Activity fund.
Todd Christopher Miller
GALVESTON - Services for Todd Christopher Miller, 44, Suffolk, Va., formerly of Galveston, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
He died suddenly on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, while on vacation near Mazatlan, Mexico.
Born Sept. 15, 1963, in Logansport, he was the son of Don E. and Beverly Horney Miller. He was married Sept. 16, 1989, in San Diego, Calif., to Michelle Hall, who survives.
A 1982 graduate of Lewis Cass High School, Chris retired from the U.S. Navy in 2004 with 23 years service as a sonar technician.
Chris served on the board of directors for the Teen Parents Association for Triple T Sports Center. He was also a member of AMVETS.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Also surviving are daughters, Teren Miller and Ciara Miller, both of Suffolk, Va.; his mother, Beverly Miller, Kokomo; brothers, Bryan Miller, Kokomo, Daniel Miller, Galveston, and Aaron and Angie Miller, Noblesville; sisters, Jody Ewing, Galveston, and Becky and Bryan Ewing, Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
The Rev. William Allison will officiate. Burial, with military graveside rites, will be in Galveston Cemetery, Galveston.
