KNOX - Hazel Cole Schall, 82, of Locust St., Knox, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004 in Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox, after an illness.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolynn Sue Ison of Iverness, Ill. and Vicki Schall of Knox; two brothers, Morris Cole of Knox and Luther Cole of Lexington, Ky.; one grandson, Jason Johnson of Knox and two great-grandchildren, Cody Johnson and Mikayla Johnson, both of Knox. Visitation is Monday one hour prior to the service at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services are Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gerald Allen officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Park Cemetery, Knox.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Esther B. McFarland

PLYMOUTH - Esther B. McFarland, 96, of 730 School Street, Culver, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004, at 4:50 p.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, Culver.
She was born on June 22, 1907 in Fulton County to Harry and Flossie (Bick) Zartman.
Esther married Russell McFarland on May 12, 1924. He passed away on May 23, 1963.
Esther was preceded in death by her daughter Virginia Wakefield, her sons Harry and Francis McFarland, her sister, three brothers, and special friend, Adrian Schlabach.
Esther and Russell owned the Culver City Ice for 32 years. She was the past president of Mother's of World War II in Culver. She moved from Culver to Plymouth in 1965 then back to Culver in 1999.
Esther is survived by 17 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren, and her brother Lawrence Zartman of Colfax.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth, with Rev. James Irwin and Rev. Ron Lewellen officiating.
Burial will be at the Maxinkuckee I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, 2004, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Marshall County Cancer, P.O. Box 895, Plymouth, IN, 46563.

John F. Zeiger
April 4, 2004
PLYMOUTH - John F. Zeiger, 79, of 4848 Deborah Lane, Plymouth, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004, at 11:45 a.m. at his home.
He was born on March 23, 1925, in Mishawaka, to Louis and Emma (Bueche) Zeiger.
John drove a delivery truck for McCord Corporation in Plymouth. He was a member of the VFW Post 1162 and Teamsters of South Bend, Lodge 354. He served his country in the Army during WWll.
John is survived by his brother, Richard (Ruth) Zeiger of Bremen; his sister, Virginia (Joseph) Trippel of Mishawaka, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at 9 a.m. at Saint Dominic Church, Bremen, with Father Polycarp Fernando officiating.
Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Mishawaka.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 6, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth.

Craig M. Hartsough
April 3, 2004
LAKEVILLE - Craig M. Hartsough, 47, of Plymouth died early April 3.
He is survived by his parents Raymond and Claire (Shank) Hartsough of Plymouth; two sisters Beverly (Douglas) Jennings of Bloomington, Ill., and Diane (Daniel) Hobbs of Howe; and his brother Allan (Janice) Hartsough of Minneapolis, Minn.
Memorial services will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, 69531 Pine Road, North Liberty. Rev. Norman Replogle will officiate.
Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Fair Cemetery, North Liberty.
Memorial gifts may be given to Recovery Inc., 802 N. Dearborn St., Chicago, IL 60610 or Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, North Liberty.

BOURBON - Annabelle Hatfield, 90, of 502 N. Harris St., Bourbon, died at 1:55 p.m., Sunday, April 4, 2004 in Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home of Plymouth.
She is survived by daughters, Barbara (James) Troxel, Nappanee and Pat (Ronald) Shepler, Warsaw; sister, Willodean Luty, Chandler, Ariz.; brother, Floyd (Peg) Bowers, Niles, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitations will be from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7 in the Deaton Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon and one hour prior to services in the church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the Country Church, Bourbon with Pastor David Gould officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Country Church.

WALKERTON - Donald Eugene Wolfenberger, 76, of Walkerton, died Sunday at his residence.
He is survived by his daughter Dona Platz of Walkerton.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Duane W. Hurford

PLYMOUTH - After a courageous six-month struggle against a cancer related illness, Duane W. Hurford, 69, a lifetime Plymouth resident has died.
Duane died, in the company of his family, at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2004, at his residence, 3544 Olive Road, Plymouth.
He was a devoted family man and loved having family gatherings, especially with his children and grandchildren.
Born in Plymouth on March 30, 1935, Duane was the son of Lewis W. and Mildred E. Garl Hurford. He graduated from LaPaz High School with the class of 1953.
In 1954 to 1956 he served his country with the United States Army as a corporal on duty in Korea.
On Oct. 18, 1957, Duane and Sandra L. Dick were married by the Rev. Moore in the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth.
After 21 years of faithful service in the maintenance department of the Plymouth B.P.C. plant, Duane retired on August 8, 2003. He had previously worked as a route driver for the Plymouth Dairy.
A farmer at heart, he tended a small Holstein herd and enjoyed tinkering in the garden and was known to be a pretty good cook.
A past master of the Plymouth Kilwinning Masonic Lodge No. 149 F & AM and received lifetime membership in 1972.
Duane is survived by his wife, Sandy and by their two daughters, a son, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They are daughter Sherry J. and Denny Long with children, Matthew and Allison; daughter Penny L. and Jeff Krieg with children, Brandy, Landon, Elizabeth and Katelyn; son Randy W. and Dianna Hurford with children Jason and Derick, all of Plymouth. The two great grandchildren are Alan and Vanessa.
Also surviving are two brothers; Lewis Garl and Louise Hurford of Elora, Tenn., and Lowell E. and Janice Hurford of Plymouth, along with Duane's sister-in-law Julia Hurford also of Plymouth. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter Lisa D. Hurford, nine-month-old grandson Josh Crockett and brother Frank W. Hurford.
Friends will be welcomed by the family from 3 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 8, 2004, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church, Bremen, will officiate.
Interment will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Duane's memory may be made to the Marshall County Hospice.

PLYMOUTH - Dolores M. Dague, 86, of Mishawaka, died Tuesday at Fountain View Place.
She is survived by a sister Hazel Treesh of Osceola.
Visitation will be Thursday, 11-1 p.m., at New Oakhill Chapel, Plymouth. Services will follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will take place in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Johnson-Danielson is in charge of the arrangements.
Alma May 'Granny' Dennison

BREMEN - Alma May "Granny" Dennison, 89, of Bremen died Tuesday at 1:15 a.m. at Community Hospital of Bremen.
She is survived by a daughter Shirley Dudeck of South Bend; three sisters Flossie Ranstead of Rochester, Ruby Little of Bremen and Mary High of South Bend; two brothers Charles McEndarfer of South Bend and Glen McEndarfer of California; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, with Pastor Gary Hinkle officiating.
Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in North Liberty.
Visitation will be Thursday, 4-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be given to American Diabetes or American Cancer Society.
Olen Neace

ARGOS - Olen Neace, 67, 13784 6A Road, Plymouth, died Tuesday, March 24, 2004 at 8:29 p.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Olen was born Oct. 8, 1939 Hardshell, Ky., to Daniel P. and Earcy Mae Campbell Neace. He had resided in Marshall County for the past 36 years, moving to this area from Chicago, Ill.
On July 5, 1957, he married Bonnie Fields in Hyden, Ky. She preceded him in death Jan. 2, 2004.
He had retired from the Pilot News, Plymouth, with 20 years of service. He was a member of the community service for all deafs through the United Health Services, South Bend. He was an artist and carved wood and made inlaid wood designs. He was also a bee keeper.
She is survived by two daughters Jeanne Randall of Plymouth and Bernadine Ann Goens of South Bend; three brothers Carl (Christine) Neace of Calhoun, Ga., Rev. Charles (Betty) Neace of North Judson, Eugene Neace of North Judson; three sisters Faye (James) Sullivan of Alabama, Pearl (Joe) Overbee of Stanton, Ky., and Connie (Roy) Bombs; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son Jeffery Neace in 1999, a brother Roger and a sister Sue Neace.
Services will be Saturday, March 27, 2004 in the Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 p.m., and one hour prior to his services in the funeral home on Saturday.
Evangelina Smith

PLYMOUTH - Evangelina Smith, 64, of 123 Candy Lane, Plymouth, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 9:20 a.m. at her son's home in Rochester.
She was born on Aug. 2, 1939 in Brownsville, Texas, to Seferino and Agueda (Rodriquez) Fuentes. They moved to Plymouth in 1960.
Evangelina was a member of the Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Plymouth, and had worked for the Heher International Incorporated in Plymouth.
Evangelina is survived by two daughters Tina and Steve Wagers and Samantha Smith, both of Plymouth; four sons Mike (April) Smith of Etna Green, Paul Daniel Smith of Plymouth, James (Patricia) Smith of Utah, and Christopher (Jacquelyn) Smith of Rochester. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters Maria Zarazua of Plymouth and another sister in Texas; and five brothers Alberto Fuentes of Elkhart, three brothers in Texas, and one brother in Puerto Rico.
She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Plymouth, with Father William Kummer officiating.
Friends may call Monday, March 29, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home 300, West Madison Street, Plymouth.
