CULVER - Fern K. Lewis, 88, died Wednesday at 10:05 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, Culver.
She is survived by her husband Ermil C. "Bud" Lewis of Culver; her son James (Katharine) Lewis of Parkers City; her daughters Mary Ann Colvin of Plymouth and Sandra K. Master of Culver; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, 1-2 p.m., following by services at 2 p.m. at Grace United Church of Christ, Culver. Rev. Marvin Anderson will officiate.
Burial will follow at Culver Masonic Cemetery.
Bonine Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

WALKERTON - Robert D. Farrar, 66, of Walkerton, died Sunday at St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend.
He is survived by his wife Delores Ann (Boatman) of Walkerton; three daughters Susan Fraize of Carmel, Sheri Hesters of Walkerton and Patti Hunter of Duluth, Ga.; and a sister Margaret Ann Reed of Royal Center.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Walkerton First Baptist Church in Walkerton. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4-8 p.m., at Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton.
William Scott Jackson

SOUTH BEND - William Scott Jackson, 57, residing on Davis Road in Ossian, passed away at 11:48 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 in Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Jackson was born Sept. 1, 1946 in Pike County, Ky., to Stuart L. and Margaret (Robinette) Jackson, who survives in South Bend.
William graduated from LaPaz High School in 1964. He married Phyllis Hicks on June 29, 1966.
She survives along with three sons Darren and Derrick Jackson of Indianapolis and Rudy L. Thompson of Whitehouse, Tenn.; a stepdaughter Sarah Thompson of Whitehouse; a granddaughter Amber Rybicki of South Bend; and a sister Ginger Bryant of Ossian.
A brother Stuart R. Jackson preceded him in death in 1999.
William moved to South Bend in 1969 and worked at A.M. General. He began his won musical repair business in South Bend before moving to Nashville, Tenn., continuing his business there.
He worked for George Gurhn Guitar Inc. as a luthier for five years before opening his music shop. He was selected repair person for C.F. Martin and Company of Nazareth, Pa. He was a professional musician mastering the guitar and mandolin. He traveled extensively with the father's band and his blue grass musical band in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Tennessee. He was loved by his many friends and by his family and will be missed very much.
He recently moved to Ossian in 2003, moving from Bremen. Prior to living in Bremen, he lived in Nashville since 1988.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004 at 2 p.m. in Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 S. Twyckenham, South Bend. Rev. Hosea Drake will officiate.
Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend.

Edna N. Mallers

BLUFFTON - Edna N. Mallers, 101, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at 6:15 a.m. at Christian Care Retirement Center.
Edna was born April 8, 1902 in Lima,Ohio, to Ora and Maude (Binkley) Swaney.
On Oct. 3, 1920 she married Charles G. Mallers in Lima. They operated Mallers Brothers Theaters, Inc. in Bluffton.
She was a charter member of Bluffton Sigma Phi Gamma, First Baptist Church in Bluffton and Eastern Star.
She is survived by her children Mary K. Reilly of Miami, Fla., William C. Mallers of Bass Lake, Jane Pautsch of Rochester and James C. Mallers of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by a son Robert Mallers.
Services will be Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt and Chaney Funeral Home with Pastor Bud Abrams of First Baptist Church in Bluffton.
Private family graveside services will be Thursday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 2-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday.

BOURBON - Harry E. Wells, 81, of 306 S. Bourbon St., Bourbon, died on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 at 8:48 a.m. in Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 1, 1922 in Vestaburg, Mich. to Horace A. and Lucy E. (Robison) Wells.
After graduating from Metz High School in Indiana in May of 1940, he joined the United States Army Air Corps and served as a mechanic in Panama and South America. The later years of WW II were spent in the China/Burma Theatre of operations as a transport pilot.
Most of Harry's life was spent in aviation as a corporate pilot from which he retired in 1975. He later retired from Biomet in 1988 and Trimed, a subsidiary of Newell in 1992. He was a faithful member of the Bourbon Bible Church for 38 years.
He was married June 24, 1950 to Jeanette (Jean) Jeffries in Bryan, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife; four children: David L. Wells, Papakeechie Lake; Deb (Jerry) Fink, Tippecanoe; Stephanie Wells, Bourbon; and Jon Wells, Nappanee; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Mark and Daniel.
Visitation is today at the Deaton Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the Bourbon Bible Church with Pastor Phillip Platz officiating.
Burial will follow in the Parks Cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Bourbon Bible Church Mission Fund in his memory.

WALKERTON - Trey Allen Bell, 20, of 18615 3B Rd., Walkerton, died on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 in an automobile accident.
He is survived by his parents, Kent and Katerina (Collings) Bell, Walkerton; sisters, Tera (Michael) Goldt, Walkerton and Brittany Bell, at home; a brother, Kyle Bell, at home; and was expecting his first child, Alaina Grace in two weeks.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Walkerton.

PLYMOUTH - Genevieve J. Hundt, 69, of 1012 Angel St., Plymouth, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at Woodland Manor Nursing Care, Elkhart.
She is survived by a daughter, Ginger L. Hundt, Kenton, Ohio; sons, Larry E. Hundt and Kenneth A. (Sylvia) Hundt, both of Plymouth; sisters, Wilma Miller, Valparaiso and Maude Horton, Kent.; brothers, Charles Armstrong, Tenn. and Bernard Armstrong, Rensselaer; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. (CST) at the Graceland Cemetery Chapel, Valparaiso.
Funeral services are Tuesday at 10 a.m. (CST) at the chapel.
Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

KNOX - George W. Mlnarik, Jr., 73, Knox, died on Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 unexpectedly from natural causes at his residence.
He is survived by four daughters: Debra M. Mlnarik, Georgia; Patricia S. (Allen) Bitterman, Lemont, Ill.; Sally A. Haack of Illinois; and Donna L. (Eric) Scott, Florida; two sisters: Marjorie Ladig of Knox and Maryann Sherman of South Bend; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Union Cemetery, Plymouth. Rev. Dean Snyder of the First Community Church of God, LaPaz officiated.

BREMEN - Iona J. Hummel, 84, 500 Walkerton Trail, Walkerton, formerly of Bremen, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004 at 1:40 a.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton.
Iona was born Oct. 12, 1919 in Antioch, Ill., to William and Gladys (Brownley) Hough.
On Oct. 8, 1937 she married Howard Hummel. He preceded her in death June 16, 1998.
She was a resident of Lakeville and Bremen. A homemaker, she was a member of the former Wyatt Christian Church.
She is survived by four daughters Flo Holesovsky of Loveland, Ohio; Nancy Rust of Bremen, Pat (Jim) Cossey of South Bend and Retha (Bob) Hunsberger of Etna Green; four sons Edgar (Betty) Hummel of Bremen, Floyd (Mary) Hummel of Plymouth, Don (Lynda) of Bremen and Dennis (Jill) Hummel of LaPaz; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a brother Allison Hough of LaPorte.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 at 2 p.m. in Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, with Rev. Karl Brenner officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Woodland.
Visitation will be Tuesday, 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodland.

Mary Ellen Elkin

WALKERTON - Mary Ellen Elkin, 82, passed away in Bowling Green, Ky., Feb. 6, 2004.
Mary and her husband Clay Wade Elkin were formerly of 63700 Thorn Road in North Liberty. She had lived in this area since 1974, moving from Chicago.
Mary was born Sept. 24, 1921 in Clark County, Ky., to Walter Thomas Handy and Nancy E. (Lowry) Handy. They are deceased.
On May 5, 1937 she married Clay Wade Elkin in Winchester, Ky. He passed away on June 30, 1979.
Mary was employed as a factory worker at several factories in the LaPorte area we well as a homemaker.
Mary and Clay were the parents of three children William T. Elkin of Walkerton, Gene Elkin of Fenton, Mo., and Janet Robison of Bowling Green.
Mary is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister Beatrice McAlister of LaPorte; two brothers James W. Handy of Owenton, Ky., and Ora T. Handy of Apalachicola, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a grandson.
Visitation will be today, Feb. 10, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. at Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home in Walkerton.
Services will be Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bill Babb officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton.

HAMLET - Lee Benninghoff, 68, died Saturday in Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox, following an illness.
He is survived by two daughters Lynn Fazekas of Dekalb, Ill., and Lisa Friday of Houston, Texas; two sisters Ann Reese of Argos and June Tollar of Valparaiso; and two brothers Clarence "Blink" Benninghoff of Knox and Terry Benninghoff of Plymouth.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet.
Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
