Gary R. Carden
GALVESTON - Services for Gary R. Carden, 63, Galveston, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
He passed away at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, in Caring Hands Health Care Center in Peru.
Born Aug. 6, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., he was the son of James T. and Helen Lamb Carden. He was married June 25, 1970, in Kokomo, to Sharon Thomas, who survives.
Gary was a pipe fitter by trade and member of Local 440 Indianapolis. He also served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
He was a member of Galveston First Baptist Church and American Legion Post 415 and was a life member of the VFW.
Gary enjoyed music and especially fishing. He was very involved with the Jim “Moose” Carden Kids Fishing Clinic.
Also surviving are son, C. Ty and Julie Carden, Galveston; daughter, Layne Carden, Galveston; granddaughters, Micah Carden, Galveston, and Loran Kemp, Kokomo; grandsons, Ethan and Garrett Zell and Taylor Carden, all of Galveston; four brothers, Jim and Linda Carden, Galveston, Joe and Jackie Carden, Logansport, Craig and Sandy Carden, and Chuck and Mary Carden, all of Kokomo; four sisters, Sharon and Bob Yockey, Connie and Bobbie Jones, and Diane Turner, all of Galveston, and Vickie and Dick Village, Longwood, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Rev. Aaron Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery, Galveston.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Thomas G. Williams
Services for Thomas G. Williams, 74, Logansport, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
He died at 7:12 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born March 20, 1933, in Washington, he was the son of Thomas H. and Hazel Lashley Williams.
Mr. Williams was the retired president of Logansport Savings Bank, where he had been employed for 42 years.
Tom was a 1955 graduate of DePauw University, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team and Sigma Chi fraternity. He was a 1951 graduate of Washington High School.
Tom was a well-known, active citizen of the Logansport community. He was a former president, treasurer and board member of the Cass County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He also had been active in the Cass County Mental Health Association and the Logansport Housing Authority. He was a former member of the Logansport Noon Kiwanis Club, and was an avid Logansport High School and Indiana University sports fan.
Mr. Williams was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he had also served as past president of the board of trustees. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War era.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas T. and Paola Williams, Carmel; daughters and sons-in-law, Natasha Williams, Carmel, Missy and Mike Harrington, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Trisha and Scott Nahmias, Carmel; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Bill Hart, Bloomington; grandchildren, Christopher Williams, Tyler Williams, Addison Williams, Michael T. Harrington, Allix Harrington, Joseph Harrington, Eli Nahmias, Constanza Williams and Ignacia Williams; and companion, Nancy Lambert, Logansport. Other survivors include, Dee Creamer, Logansport; Tim and Joni Lambert and Eric Lambert and Chad Lambert, all of Logansport; Mike and Michelle Lambert, and Nathan Lambert and Nicholas Lambert, all of Naperville, Ill.; Steve and Michelle Lambert and Hillary Napier, Stephanie Lambert and Natalie Lambert, all of Florence, Ky.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
The Rev. Bill Shannon will officiate. Burial will be private.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Cass County Chapter of the American Red Cross and to the Logansport High School Athletic Department.
Thomas Howell
ELIZABETHTOWN, N.C. - Services for Thomas Howell, 80, Bladenboro, N.C., were held at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church of Bladenboro, Bladenboro, N.C.
He entered into rest on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at his home.
He was a 1946 graduate of New Waverly High School.
Mr. Howell, a Korean War veteran, and served his country for 12 years as a member of the 82nd Airborne. He worked for the town of Bladenboro, N.C., for four years and was a member of the Lion’s Club and Rotary Club.
He served on the board of the Bladenboro Historical Society. As a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bladenboro, Mr. Howell was a teacher of the Men’s Adult Sunday school class.
He retired from Southeastern School Corporation as maintenance supervisor in 1992, and he was a resident of Logansport for 28 years from 1964 to 1992.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Howell; two sons, Thomas J. Howell and wife, Connie, Bladenboro, N.C. and William “Bill” Howell, at home; one daughter, Patricia “Patty” Howell, Bladenboro, N.C.; one brother, Ralph W. Howell, Denver, Colo.; one sister, Marie Rush, Dinuba, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Regina Culbreth and husband, Scott, Erica Thompson, Scarlet Berkheimer and husband, Donald, Oakley Howell and wife, Amanda, and Ruth, David, Rose and Savannah Howell; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters Opal Stiver, Agnus Skelton, Nan Obenchain and Margaret Iles, and a granddaughter, Cassie Cheatham.
Rev. Bert Young officiated. Burial was in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, N.C., is in charge of arrangements.
Iva L. Slusser
Services for Iva L. Slusser, 84, Logansport, formerly of Walton, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
She died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born Dec. 2, 1923, in Shaton, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Christine Williamson Druger. She was married Sept. 4, 1944, in Freeport, Ill., to Howard W. Slusser, who preceded in death Aug. 7, 1995.
Iva was a homemaker.
She was a member of Camden Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Ladies Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital and Clymer’s United Methodist Church.
Surviving are son, Jerry W. Slusser, Indianapolis; daughter, Patricia Ann Miller and husband, Phil, Walton; sisters, Alvina Stackowiez, Rockford, Ill., and Wilda Sturtevent, Holly Spring, N.C.; sister-in-law, Bette Zollman, Walton; six grandchildren, Doug Winters and wife, Emily, Carmel, Ashley Hissong and husband, Todd, Indianapolis, Brooke Winters, Fishers, Jason Slusser, Las Vegas, and Katie and Kara Slusser, Indianapolis; three stepgrandchildren, Maghan Keller and husband, Kevin, Carmel, Drew and Taylor Miller, Galveston; and three great-grandchildren, Raegan and Reese Hissong and Mason Keller.
Pastor Sharon Walker will officiate. Private graveside services will be held at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children and to the American Cancer Society.
Jewel Owens
MONTICELLO - Services for Jewel Owens, 71, Monticello, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Miller-Roscka Funeral Home.
She died at 7:46 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette
The Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
Clarence Edward Sparks
MONTICELLO - Services for Clarence Edward Sparks, 81, Monticello, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.
He died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in his residence.
Burial will be in Idaville Cemetery.

She died at 12:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in Hickory Creek in Rochester.

Mary L. Taulman
Services for Mary L. Taulman, 80, Logansport, formerly of Buffalo, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Kroeger Funeral Home.
She died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born Feb. 1, 1927, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Ralph Galbreath and Eva Dewalt Galbreath.
She was married Oct. 26, 1952, to Archie Watts, who preceded in death on Feb. 26, 1986. Her second marriage took place on March 23, 1990, to Edward Earl Taulman, who preceded in death on March 14, 2007.
A homemaker, Mrs. Taulman was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are one son, Michael Archie Watts, Fort Wayne; three sisters, Eva Keller, Camden; Helen Fox, Kokomo; and Caroline Gotschalk, Stockwell; and three brothers, Joseph Galbreath, Richard Galbreath, and Clarence Galbreath, all of Logansport.
Rev. Douglas Mankell will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Camden Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Lucille ‘Lucy’ C. Pasquale
A funeral mass for Lucille “Lucy” C. Pasquale, 84, Royal Center, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport.
She died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, in St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 4, 1923, in Holland, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Floyd C. and Nina Belle Slocum Woodward.
On Feb. 13, 1960, she married Joseph R. Pasquale, who survives.
She was a 1941 graduate of Allegan High School in Allegan, Mich.
Lucy was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. She helped start the Pioneer football program and was a supporting fan of the Pioneer band and winter guard programs. She was a host parent for several exchange students and had also been a foster parent. She was an avid sports fan who also enjoyed camping, auto racing, gardening, flowers, crossword puzzles, reading and, most of all, her grandchildren.
She formerly owned and operated Pasquale Real Estate and then Lucy’s Restaurant in Royal Center.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph “Dick” R. Pasquale, Royal Center; one son, Joseph R. Pasquale, Jr., Noblesville; one daughter, Becky A. Holcomb, Burnettsville; six grandchildren, Heather, Kristen and Brad Holcomb, Burnettsville; and Sarah, Kelsie and Joey Pasquale, Noblesville.
Father Jeff Martin will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Kistler Cemetery in Royal Center.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Homes, Royal Center Chapel, where there will be a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice and/or the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana.
Linda M. Parigen
KOKOMO - Services for Linda M. Parigen, 60, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church.
She died at 12:20 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in the home of her adoptive parents in Kokomo.
Born April 10, 1947, she was the daughter of Carl B. and Pauline Lane Davis, both who preceded in death.
Her life companion and best friend, Phyllis Dianne Gaskins, of Logansport, survives.
Linda worked for eight years at the Logansport State Hospital.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church in Kokomo.
She enjoyed cooking, painting, crafts, quilting, gardening, fishing and camping.
Linda loved life and she enjoyed making people laugh. She especially loved her church.
Also surviving are her daughter, Janet Parigen, Kokomo; son, Larry Parigen, Kokomo; five grandchildren, Ashley, Kaylee, Amber, Zachary, and Hope; sister, Judy, and husband, Ron Rosselot, Ky.; adopted family, Paul and Charlene Gaskins, Kokomo; Phillip and Wanda Gaskins, Ky.; and Dale and Linda Gaskins, Ill.
Two brothers, Kenneth and Larry Davis, also preceded in death.
Pastor Russell Veldman will officiate at the services. Burial will take place Wednesday in Haven Hill Cemetery, Columbia, Ky.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church in Kokomo, or Howard Regional VNS Hospice in Kokomo.
Mildred Louise ‘Millie’ Nesbit
ROCHESTER - Services for Mildred Louise “Millie” Nesbit, 79, Rochester, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Good Family Funeral Home.
She died at 10:38 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
The Rev. Don Noon will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Russiaville Cemetery.
