Bill E. Small
Services for Bill E. Small, 71, Walton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Blue Ball Church.
He died at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, in his residence.
Born Aug. 31, 1937, in Logansport, he was the son of John Everett and Ruth Elizabeth Coblentz Small. He was married Nov. 22, 1959, in Blue Ball Church to Connie L. Shaff, who survives.
Bill retired as a rural mail carrier for the Walton post office. Bill was also a retired farmer.
He was a lifetime and active member of Blue Ball Church and member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, where he served as state chaplain for several years. Bill served on the board of directors of the Cass County 4-H Association, where he served as president for four years.
Bill was a 1955 graduate of Washington Township High School. He was an avid sports fan especially when it came to the Cubs and Purdue. He enjoyed golfing, working in the yard and spending time with his family.
Also surviving are son, Mark Small and wife, Lisa, Walton; daughter, Tammy Small, Walton; daughter-in-law, Carla J. Small, Walton; mother-in-law, Lucile Shaff, Logansport; sisters, Joan Plank and husband, Don, Walton, and Charlene Miller, Kokomo; sister-in-law, Jane A. Small, Walton; grandchildren, Cara Small and special friend, Nick Pickering, Walton, Braydon and Aly Small, and Ryan Small, all of Walton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death are one son, Darin Small; and one brother, Tom Small.
Pastor Jerry Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ball Church or the Cass County 4-H Association.

MONTICELLO - Private Family Burial will be held for Mason Dean Turner-Inman, infant, Monticello.
He died Thursday, April 3, 2008, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.

MONTICELLO - Private family burial will be held for infant Mason Dean Turner-Inman, Monticello.
He died Thursday, April 3, 2008, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.

Dale R. Smith
Services for Dale R. Smith, 48, Logansport, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 1:25 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, in his residence.
Born Feb. 18, 1960, in Ypsilanti, Mich., he was the son of Gerald and Mary Lou Hiatt Smith. He was married Nov. 10, 1981, in Logansport, to Wanda K. Spencer, who survives.
He had been employed since 1981 at the Logansport Pizza Hut.
Dale was a member of Rehoboth Christian Center. He was raised in Shelburn until the age of 19 when he moved to Logansport. He loved fishing, electronics and spending time with his family.
Also surviving are daughters, Marissa D. Smith and Kayanna M. Smith, both of Logansport; sister-in-law, Sandra L. Smith-Oehlert, Logansport; niece, Allison Oehlert, Logansport; nephew, Jerald W. Smith, Logansport; and four great-nephews, Michael, Darrin, Zachery and Jeffrey Smith.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry D. Smith, and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Edna Hiatt.
Pastor Richard Conrad will officiate. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends may call from noon until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lysle Junior Graves
Services for Lysle Junior Graves, 72, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in his daughter’s residence near Onward.
Born May 15, 1935, in Walton, he was the son of James and Evelyn Small Graves. He was married May 9, 1954, in Logansport, to Carolyn C. Copeland, who preceded in death March 26, 2008.
He retired in 1992 as an attendant at the Logansport State Hospital after 40 years of service.
Lysle enjoyed fishing, gardening, crossword puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Donna Taylor and husband, Donald, Walton, and Anita Cain and husband, Eric, Logansport; brother, Terrell Graves, Worthington; six grandchildren, Heather, Jessica, Joshua Holley, Tabitha Laffin, Caleb and Shaylen Cain; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Jo Graves, one brother, Eldon Graves, and one great-grandchild, Christopher Holley.
The Rev. Jerry Moore will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Diana L. Walls
WINAMAC - Services for Diana L. Walls, 55, Star City, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Frain Mortuary.
She died at 12:58 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008, in her residence.

Lois ‘Sally’ McVay Scotney
Services for Lois “Sally” McVay Scotney, 88, Muncie, formerly of Logansport and Columbus, Ohio, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
She passed away Monday, April 7, 2008, in Muncie.
Born in Burnettsville, she was the daughter of Lewis D. and Gladys B. Meeker McVay. She was married to Joseph A. Scotney on Nov. 27, 1942, in Waco, Texas. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1991.
Sally was a member of the Baptist Temple in Logansport, and First Baptist Church in Marion.
Surviving are daughter, Karen Scotney Pierce, Muncie; and son, Lance and wife, Cheryl Scotney, Powell, Ohio; brother Owen and wife, Pat McVay, Rochester; five grandchildren, Scott and wife, Terri Pierce, Sean and wife Vicki Scotney, Brian and wife, Sarah Pierce, Nancy Scotney and Robert Scotney; and five great-grandchildren, Hailey Scotney, Aidan Pierce, Riley Warren, Luke Scotney and Emma Pierce.
She is preceded in death by sister, June McVay Larimore, and brothers, Galen and Donnabelle McVay, Kenneth and Helen McVay and Everett and Thelma McVay; and one great-grandson, Sean Alec Scotney.
The Rev. Michael Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery, near Burnettsville.

William A. Shaffer
Graveside services for William A. Shaffer, 57, Logansport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Mount Hope Cemetery Legion Circle under the auspices of the Cass County Veterans Service Council.
He died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in his residence.

Mable E. Adsit
CAMDEN - Services for Mable Edith Arion Adsit, 89, Delphi, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cree Funeral Home.
She died at 2 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, at St. Anthony’s Nursing Home, Lafayette.
Born Dec. 26, 1918, in Burrows, she was the daughter of George and Mable Hardy Arion. She attended school in Burrows and Rockfield. On April 15, 1939, in Delphi, she married Leon Adsit. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2004.
Mrs. Adsit was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, walking and was a voracious reader.
She was a member of Lockport Church where she was very active, and Liberty Belles Extension Homemakers Club.
She resided in Burrows for 57 years before moving to Delphi six months ago.
Surviving are two sons, Stan Adsit and wife, June, Indianapolis, and David Adsit and wife, Rebecca, Royal Center; one brother, George Arion Jr., Flora; two sisters, Krenta Keller and husband, Donald, Rossville, and Doris Blackburn and husband, Leonard, Flora; two granddaughters, Amy Mathews and husband, John, Brownsburg, and Brandi Maloy, Logansport; two grandsons, Clint Adsit and Emil Adsit, both of Royal Center; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold, and two sisters, Helen and Betty.
Pastor Nord Zootman will officiate. Burial will be at Burrows Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Sue E. Smith Lockwood
Graveside services for Sue E. Smith Lockwood, 62, VanBuren, Mo., formerly of Burnettsville, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Davis Cemetery, near Burnettsville.
She died in Columbia, Mo.
Born in Burnettsville, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Sr. and Mildred York Smith.
Surviving are two brothers, Floyd Smith, Jr., Ypsilanti, Mich., and Gordon Smith, VanBuren, Mo.
One brother, Don Smith, preceded in death.

Rev. Eschol Cosby
Services for Rev. Eschol Cosby, 97, Logansport, formerly of Pearce, Ariz., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kroeger Funeral Home. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home. Graveside services also will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cochise Cemetery, Cochise, Ariz.
He passed away at 7:15 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in his Logansport residence.
Born Aug. 24, 1910, in Lemesa, Texas, he was the son of Robert Charlie and Purrie Louvenia Kelley Cosby. He was married June 12, 1949, in Benson, Ariz., to Joan Ives, who survives.
Rev. Cosby was a well-known pastor and evangelist in Arizona and the western United States. For more than 50 years, he had a radio ministry and was a pioneer in Christian television in Arizona and California. He was perhaps best known for his Western Gospel music group called the “Christian Cowboys,” which toured and was on television in the 1940s and 1950s.
Eschol established and pastored the Branded for Christ Baptist Church in Pearce, Ariz., for more than 40 years. He was author of the autobiographical book, “Branded for Christ.”
Rev. Cosby was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in World War II.
Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bob and Cathy Cosby, Logansport; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Bill Miller, Payson, Ariz., and Cathy and Mike Hoover, Orleans; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Melvin Cosby.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Angeline ‘Angie’ Madson
MONTICELLO - Services for Angeline “Angie” Madson, 90, Monticello, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
She died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center.
Born Feb. 16, 1918, in Gary, she was the daughter of the late Domenico and Esther Auippo Covelli. She was married July 27, 1946, in Gary, to Bernard H. Madson, who preceded in death March 9, 1986.
Mrs. Madson graduated from Frable High School in Gary in 1936, and she was a homemaker. She lived in Monticello since 1973, coming from Glen Park.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Sodality. During World War II, she was active in the USO. She had been an active participant of the White County Council on Aging, was a member of the Monticello Chapter Women of the Moose, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW, and the William Paca Lodge Logansport.
Surviving are three sons, Alex J. Madson, Marshall, Donald Bernard Madson, Monticello, and Matthew and Tam Madson, Renssalaer; sister-in-law, Betty Covelli, Lake Station; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank and Ross Covelli; sisters, Francis Glorioso, Mary Povlinski, and infant sister, Louise Covelli; and daughter-in-law, Linda Madson.
Father Gerald Borawski will officiate. Burial will be in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.

Lloyd M. Weaver
AKRON - Services for Lloyd M. Weaver, 80, Rochester, formerly of Macy, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Hartzler Funeral Home.
He died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester.
Born June 18, 1927, in White County, he was the son of David and Ethel Suitor Weaver. He was married Dec. 11, 1954, in Tracy, to Glova M. Poisel, who survives.
Lloyd was a grain and dairy farmer in Miami and Fulton counties.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in World War II.
He belonged to St. John Lutheran Church in Rochester, was a former member of the Farm Bureau and former member of the American Milk Producers Inc.
Also surviving are daughter, Sharon Mills and husband, Kent, Denver; two sons, John Pope, Middlebury, and Larry Weaver and wife, Brenda, Yoder; four grandchildren, Chrystal Smith, Nathan Vandermark, and Travis and Michael Weaver; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bonnietta Carter, Monticello, Irene Lawson, Royal Center, Alberta Grable and husband, Leonard, Star City, and Leota Green, Bend, Ore.; and three brothers, David Weaver and wife, Lois, Idaville, Franklin Weaver and wife, Nancy, Royal Center, and Donald Weaver and wife, Elsie, Rochester.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Weaver, and one sister, Dot Veach.
Pastor James Wasmuth will officiate. Burial, with military graveside rites by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post 36 and VFW Post 1343, both of Rochester, will be in Athens Cemetery, Athens.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
