Arnold E. ‘Jack’ Shidler
WINAMAC - Services for Arnold E. “Jack” Shidler, 83, Winamac, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Frain Mortuary.
He died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.
Born June 12, 1924, in Royal Center, he was the son of Thomas Sr. and Ruth Florence Biddle Shidler. He was married Sept. 20, 1969, in Plymouth, to Norma L. Smith, who survives.
Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1946. He received the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat and the Bronze Star.
Jack owned Jack’s Tropical Fish in Winamac, and Tulsa, Okla., for several years. He retired in 2001 from Whallon Machine in Royal Center as a machinist.
Jack was a former member of the Winamac Eagles Club, life member of the Winamac VFW Post 1728, life member of the DAV and a life member of the 80th Division Veterans Association. He also was a member of Pulaski Presbyterian Church.
Jack raised birds as a hobby and was an avid woodworker.
Also surviving are daughter, Janet Berger and husband, Bob Paltz, San Antonio, Texas; sons, Jimmy Lee Shidler and wife, Carol, Winamac, Jack W. Shidler and wife, Sheryl, Logansport, Joseph G. Shidler and wife, Marilyn, Royal Center, Donald H. Berger and wife, Virginia, Granger, and Jeffery L. Shidler, Winamac; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Myers and husband, Richard, Monticello; and brothers, Edward Shidler and wife, Lila, and Richard and Mary Lou Shidler, all of Argos, Ralph Shidler, Medaryville, and Larry “Bean” Shidler, Winamac.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Joni Michelle Shidler; son, Paul Shidler; brothers, John Shidler, Nelson Shidler, Orvile “Todd” Shidler, Thomas Shidler, Donald Shidler, Garold D. Shidler, Wayman Shidler and Paul Shidler; and great-granddaughter, Lexie Lynn Stanton.
Rev. Marcia Cline will officiate. Burial, with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion and VFW, will be in the Pulaski Presbyterian Cemetery, Pulaski.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Pulaski Presbyterian Church.
Loraine K. Geyer
FRANCESVILLE - Services for Loraine K. Geyer, 51, Francesville, will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, Francesville.
She died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare in Monticello.
Pastor Susan Jennys will officiate at the services. Private burial will be at a later date in the Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to John Purdue Club-Women’s basketball, Francesville United Methodist Church or the Our Lifetime Foundation.
PAUL M. SCHEFFER
Paul M. "Pudge" Scheffer, 82, of 6144 South SR 119, Star City, IN, passed away at 8:25 PM Sunday, August 13, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born February 18, 1924, in Pulaski, IN, to Henry and Katherine Miller Scheffer. He married Helen Ortman on 11/30/1945 in Pulaski, IN. Helen survives.
Paul was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pulaski, IN. He was also a Lifetime member of the VFW Post 1728 in Winamac, IN. Pudge was a farmer. He lived all of his life in Pulaski County. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at Bill & Babes. Pudge's daily routine included his truck route.

Services will be held at 10 AM CDT Wednesday, August 16, 2006, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pulaski, with Rev. Ronald Schiml officiating.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM CDT at Frain Mortuary. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 PM CDT Tuesday at Frain Mortuary. The VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
Memorials may be given to the church.
SELMA KALVELAGE
Selma Kalvelage, 88, of 980 Pearl Drive, Mount Dora, FL, passed away at 8:54 AM Sunday, August 13, 2006 in her residence.
She was born March 20, 1918, in Lansing, IL, to Fred and Ella Vierk Schultz. She married Robert F. Kalvelage on Sept. 17, 1944, in Lansing, IL. He died Dec. 25, 1989.
She was a resident of Mount Dora, FL, since 1975. She formerly resided in Kewanna, IN, and Lansing, IL.
She was a homemaker and an 11 year employee of First Federal Savings & Loan, Lansing, IL.
She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and the VFW Post # 1728 Auxillary, both of Winamac, IN, and was an associate member of Faith Lutheran Church, Eustis, FL.
Survivors include several cousins.

THOMAS E. BURKE JR.
Thomas E. Burke Jr., 83, of 6201 W 550 N, Winamac, IN, passed away at 1:45 AM Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Starke Memorial Hospital in Knox, IN.
He was born February 23, 1923, in Chicago, IL, to Thomas E. and Helen J. Hughes Burke Sr.. He married Maureen N. Neary on Feb. 27, 1960 in St. Sabina Church, Chicago, IL. She survives.
He was a former resident of Homewood-Flossmoor, IL and had also lived in Palos Park, IL, and Hometown, IL, and Kewaunee, WI. He moved to Winamac in 1977.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy as a pilot of a PBY sea plane and also regular aircraft. He also served as an intelligence officer during the Korean Conflict.
He graduated from Univ. of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana Campus with a B.S. Degree.
He was a former chemist, pharmaceutical salesman, accountant, and also taught physics in high school for 10 years. He once ran a publication called "Pro Multis" and a printing business. He was a professional apiarist and gardener. He had been an aerial photographer for the government. He enjoyed working with wood.
He was a very versatile individual who could sucessfully address any issue he needed to.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #92, North Judson, IN, and the Traditional Roman Catholic Church.

Services will be held at 11AM CDT Thursday, August 17, 2006, in Frain Mortuary, Winamac, with Father John Mencsik officiating.
Burial will be in St. Jacob Cemetery, North Judson, IN.
Friends may call from 6-8PM CDT Wednesday, August 16, 2006, in Frain Mortuary.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:30PM Wednesday in the funeral home.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #92.
JUDY K. WARNER
Judy K. Warner, 63, of 5359 South 250 East, Star City, IN, passed away at 1:50 PM Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Howard Regional Health System in Kokomo, IN.
She was born December 15, 1942, in Lake Cicott, IN, to Everett and Maxine Gellinger DeWitt. She married Russell Warner on 05/28/1960 in Star City, IN. Russell survives.
Judy is a former resident of the Royal Center and Lake Cicott areas. She has lived in Star City for 46 years. Judy loved outdoor life including birds and flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Judy was a member of the Star City Church of Christ.

Timothy William Calvert, 49, of 1322 South Delphos Street, Kokomo, IN, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at his residence.
He was born January 22, 1957, in Gary, IN, to Raymond and Mary Louise Morrow Calvert.

ROBIN DEAN BAKER
Robin Dean Baker, 33, of 1414 E 100 N, Winamac, IN, passed away at 1:59 PM Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.
He was born April 12, 1973, in Winamac, IN, to Lloyd and Linda Barber Baker.
He was employed as a mechanic at Jim Dobson Ford Mercury, Winamac.
When he was younger he enjoyed drag racing at Bunker Hill Speedway.
His greatest love in life was flying his R/C airplanes. He was one of the top pilots in the area. He was well known in Indiana in the R/C model airplane community.
He was a member of Winamac Aero Modeler's.
