Isabelle M. Herrick

ROYAL CENTER -- Services for Isabelle M. Herrick, 85, of Chase Center, formerly of 2203 North St., Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel.

She died at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Chase Center.

Born March 15, 1915, in Royal Center, she was the daughter of Chester and Ethel Oswalt Mappin. On Oct. 2, 1937, she was married in Royal Center to C. Gerald Herrick, who survives.

Mrs. Herrick was a homemaker and managed her own antique shop in Logansport. She bought and sold antiques for 30 years.

A member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 58 in Logansport, she also was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church, now Cross-Wind United Methodist Church in Logansport.

Also surviving are one sister, Fern Minnick, Seal Beach, Calif., and one niece and nephew, Karen Hoover, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Ronald Minnick, Burbank, Calif.

One brother and two sisters preceded in death.

The Rev. Chip Gast will officiate the services. Burial will be in Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home, where an Order of the Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m., and after 8 a.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cross-Wind United Methodist Church.

Helen M. Stout

PERU -- Services for Helen M. Stout, 81, of 412 E. Washington Ave., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Peru First Brethren Church, 135 E. Main St.

She died at 10 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2000, in Saint Joseph Hospital & Health Center, Kokomo.

Born June 18, 1918, in Hamilton County, she was the daughter of Joseph Milton and Irene Leeman Oxley. On Dec. 25, 1937, she was married to William Isaac Stout, who died Nov. 10, 1988.

A1936 graduate of Tipton High School, Mrs. Stout was a homemaker.

She belonged to Peru First Brethren Church, where she also served as a Deaconess.

Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and Mike Breedlove, Lexington, N.C., and Sarah and Carlos Smith, Evansville; five sons and six daughters-in-law, Joseph and Susie Stout, Peru, Jesse and Miriam Stout, Peru, Marvin and Connie Stout, Logansport, Jim and Brenda Stout, Wabash, Isaac and Becky Stout, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Cindy Stout; two sisters, Marjorie Copp, Okeechobee, Fla., and Mildred Brogdon, Terre Haute; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

One son, Thomas Stout, a brother, Cecil Oxley, two sisters and two grandchildren preceded in death.

The Rev. Lorie Kack will officiate the services. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Living Memorial Bible Plan and Mission at Lost Creek, Ky.

William C. Neese

Services for William C. Neese, 84, of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

He died at 3:26 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 23, 1916, in Putnam County, he was the son of William H. and Mary Evans Neese. On Aug. 8, 1938, in Greencastle, he was married to Mildred l. Bandy, who survives.

Mr. Neese retired in 1979 as a conductor for Conrail. While working for the railroad, he was president and treasurer of the local Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

A member of River of Life Christian Church, he had been a deacon at the former Ninth Street Christian Church. He was a member of Tipton Lodge No. 33 F&AM, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and St. John Commandery, as well as the Logansport Eagles.

He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed fishing and flowers and was an avid reader.

Also surviving are one son, James W. Neese, St. Paris, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Jerry Keener, Bloomington, and Sandra and John Zellers, Winamac; five grandchildren, Dianna Brown, Brad Zellers, Kristy Akers, Meera Good and Bill Neese; seven great-grandchildren, Marissa Weaver, Korin Weaver, Chelsea Akers, Jesse Akers, Gregory Zellers, Shawn Zellers and Kayleen Good; and several nieces and nephews.

The Revs. Bryon Rose and Luis Mendez will officiate the services. Entombment will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where a Tipton Lodge service will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to River of Life Christian Church.

Samuel W.R. Friend

Services for Samuel W.R. Friend, 53, of Tampa, Fla., will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

He died Sunday, December 5, 1999, in Tampa following an auto accident.

Born March 4, 1946, in Fulton, he was the son of Russell and Marie Merrill Friend.

Mr. Friend was a self-employed truck driver.

Surviving are two sons, Randy Friend, Goshen, and Samuel Friend; one daughter, Colleen Friend; one brother, Jerald Allen Friend, Elkins, Ark.; three sisters, Lois C. Wouster and Patsy Carmichael, both of Logansport, and Ann Medley, Chattanooga, Tenn.; his companion, Ethel Friend, Goshen; and two grandchildren.

The Rev. Donald Ruhl will officiate the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services Friday in the funeral home.

Gary E. McIntire

Services for Gary E. McIntire, 45, of 2414 Stadium Drive, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.

Mr. McIntire died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at his residence.

Born Feb. 5, 1954, in Logansport, he was the son of Leo and Lora Murphy McIntire Jr.

Mr. McIntire was a distributor for Tri-Star.

He was a member of the National Modified Midget Association.

Surviving are three sons, Eric A. McIntire, Monticello, Brandon M. McIntire, Terre Haute, and Shannon M. McIntire, West Lafayette; one brother, R. Dwayne McIntire, Logansport; two uncles, Phillip McIntire and his wife, Mary Ann, Logansport, and Wayne McIntire, New Port Richey, Fla.; one aunt, Ellis Rose, New Port Richey; and several other aunts and uncles.

The Rev. Michael L. Williams will officiate at the services. Burial will be private.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Cancer Society.

Clydetta Nicolas

WINAMAC -- Graveside services for Clydetta Nicolas, 55, of Winamac, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Winamac Cemetery.

She died Thursday, March 11, 1999.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clydetta Nicolas fund c/o First National Bank of Monterey.

Agnes Z. Horner

WINAMAC -- Graveside services for Agnes Z. Horner, 89, of 624 E. 13th St., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tippecanoe Cemetery.

She died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999.

Irene E. Benedict

DENVER -- Irene E. Benedict, 86, of Denver, died at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday in Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.

Arrangements are pending at McClain Funeral Home.

Evadean M. Deardorff

ROCHESTER -- Evadean M. Deardorff, 90, of 1213 Lakeshore Drive, died at 7:47 p.m. Tuesday at her residence.

Arrangements are pending at Foster & Good Funeral Home.

Kenneth D. Fivecoate

PERU -- Services for Kenneth D. Fivecoate, 66, of 4242E South River Road, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

Mr. Fivecoate died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, March 29, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born April 3, 1932, in Miami County, he was the son of Ira A. and Maude M. Miller Fivecoate. On July 2, 1955, he was married to V. Maxine Chaffins, who survives.

Mr. Fivecoate was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two years and during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Logansport.

He also was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Logansport.

In 1974, he moved from Peru to Logansport.

Mr. Fivecoate retired from Courier-Newsom Trucking, where he was a truck driver for 32 years. He also was a retired guard for Burns Security.

He attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Logansport.

Also surviving are three sons, Darrell Fivecoate and his wife, Kelli, Cicero, RandellFivecoate, and his wife, Caron, Burrows, and Greg Fivecoate and his wife, Jodi, Pensacola, Fla.; one daughter, Erin Brugh, Logansport; three brothers, Harold "Bud" Fivecoate, Mentone, Gerald Fivecoate, Cutler, and Raymond "Zip" Fivecoate, Royal Center; and six grandchildren, Brandi Brugh, Marisa Brugh, Russell Fivecoate, Brenna Fivecoate, ChloeFivecoate and Alisha Fullmer.

Five brothers, Glen, Irl, Carl, Russell and Loren Fivecoate, and four sisters, Leona, Marie, Emmalineand Irene, preceded in death.

Pastor Bryan Yenshowill officiate at the services. Burial, with military committal services by the Logansport VFW, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cass County.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Robert L. Fettig

CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Memorial services for Robert L. Fettig, of Chandler, formerly of Logansport, were held Saturday in Chandler.

Mr. Fettig died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at his residence.

Ina Glendola Newby

RUSSIAVILLE -- Services for Ina Glendola Newby, 89, of Bartow, Fla., formerly of Howard and Carroll counties, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stout & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Newby died at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, March 28, 1999, in Bartow Convalescent Center, Bartow, Fla.

Born Oct. 19, 1909, in Howard County, she was the daughter of Stephen and Mary E. Hart Henry Sylvester. On Sept. 15, 1929, she was married to Everett W. Newby, who died Aug. 3, 1986.

Mrs. Newby was a member of Highland Park Church in Kokomo.

She also was a member of the Kokomo Women’s Department Club, the Better Homes & Garden Club and the Women’s Christian Temple Union.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Joan and William Zook, Lakeland, Fla., and Marilyn Kay and Leland Walkup, Seminole, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Virginia Newby, Garland, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

One son, Raymond E. Newby, one brother, Lloyd C. Henry, and one great-grandchild, Kara Nicole Newby, preceded in death.

The Rev. Ed Vasicek will officiate at the services. Burial will be in New London Cemetery, near Russiaville.

Friends may call from noon until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Dorothy C. Shank

MONTEREY, Tenn. -- Dorothy C. Shank, 86, formerly of Carroll County, died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 1999, in Standing Stone Health Care Center.

Surviving are nine children; 37 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Paul R. Shank, one son, one brother, two sisters and one grandson preceded in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Fund and the American Diabetes Association.

Helen R. Tobin

Helen R. Tobin, 83, of Logansport, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Robert M. Scott

KEWANNA -- Robert M. Scott, 79, of Lake Bruce, died Wednesday in Valley Hospital, Las Vegas, Nev.

Raymond A. Myers

BUNKER HILL -- Services for Raymond A. Myers, 81, of Route 5, Peru, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Allen Funeral Home.

Mr. Myers died at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 1999, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru.

The Rev. Marvin Lamb will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday the funeral home.

Evadean M. Deardorff

ROCHESTER -- Services for Evadean M. Deardorff, 90, of 1313 Lakeshore Drive, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Foster & Good Funeral Home.

Mrs. Deardorff died at 7:47 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at her residence.

The Rev. Don Brenneman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

Irene E. Benedict

DENVER -- Services for Irene E. Benedict, 86, of Denver, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in McClain Funeral Home.

Mrs. Benedict died at 8:28 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 1999, in Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.

Born Jan. 30, 1913, in Willshire, Ohio, she was the daughter of Clarence S. and Lanta V. Wolfe Brandt. She was married to William A. Benedict, who preceded in death.

Mrs. Benedict was a 1931 graduate of Rockford High School, Rockford, Ohio, and a graduate of Fort Wayne Business College.

A homemaker, she was a waitress at the Patio Restaurant in Peru and a home healthcare provider for several years.

She was a member of Denver Baptist Church.

Surviving are six children, Carole Jean Townsend and her husband, Wally, Twelve Mile, Janet S. Ogle and her husband, Fred, Akron, Judith A. Kowalski and her husband, Gean, Riverside, Calif., Diane K. Livengood and her husband, John, and David R. Benedict, all of Denver, and Cheryl E. Kraus and her husband, Dan, Valrico, Fla.; one half brother, Elihu M. Davison, St. Petersburg, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Paul E. Brandt and Waldo B. Brandt, and two half brothers, Lewis G. Davison and Gale Davison, also preceded in death.

The Rev. Judy Adams will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.
