MONTICELLO - Services for C. Pauline Griesey, 93, Monticello, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Monticello.
She died at 9:50 p.m. in White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello.
Father Gerald Borawski of the Our Lady of The Lakes Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be In the IOOF Riverview Cemetery, rural Monticello.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello.

Hailey Renee Moss
Graveside services for Hailey Renee Moss, 22 days old, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Baby Walk, Mount Hope Cemetery.
She passed away on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in St. Vincent’s Women’s Hospital, Indianapolis, where she had been a patient since her premature birth on Sept. 10, 2008.
She was the daughter of Greg Moss and Jessika Nufer Moss. Both parents survive, residing in New Castle.
Also surviving are her maternal grandparents, Lynn Nufer, Winamac; and George Scheffer, Francesville; paternal grandparents, Melissa Spurgeon (Lloyd Breeden, Jr.), New Castle; and Dewayne Moss, Logansport; maternal great-grandmother, Katherine Jones, Logansport; paternal great-grandparents, Bill and Beverly Blankinship, Peru; and Lois Moss, Logansport; paternal great-great-grandmother, Mamie Surface, Logansport; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shirley Mae Jones Fox
INDIANAPOLIS - A memorial service and luncheon will be held for Shirley Mae Jones Fox, 75, Carmel, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, in St. Luke United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St.
She passed from her life on earth to her next life on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2008.
She was born to Katherine and Lawrence Jones, one of 10 children, in Logansport, on Feb. 28, 1933. Her family owned and operated the famous Dentzel Carousel in Riverside Park in Logansport for several years, so Shirley was very well known. The carousel still provides many hours of fun for Logansport citizens to this day.
She graduated from Logansport High School in 1951 and soon after was employed by General Telephone Co.
She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Shirley was a talented home decorator and loved all beautiful things, faithfully planting flowers every spring.
In 1954, she was married to Larry W. Fox in her home church, Market Street Methodist Church. They honeymooned in New York City and then embarked on an exciting 55-year marriage before her passing. She was an adoring mother to her four children.
Shirley is survived by her husband; children, David Fox (wife, Patricia), Bradley Fox, Diana Young and Mark Fox; grandchildren, Krishna Jones, Lauren Fox, Tyler Fox and Zachary Young; and great-grandson, Christipher Jones. Shirley is also survived by seven brothers and sisters.
All family and friends, old and new, are invited to St. Luke’s.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church.

ROCHESTER - Services for Harvey Jackson Jr., 69, Rochester, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Good Family Funeral Home.
He died at 10:24 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, in the emergency room at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester.
Burial will be in Leiters Ford Cemetery, Leiters Ford.

Cindy R. Beachler
PORTAGE, Mich. - A memorial service for Cindy R. Beachler, 51, Portage, Mich., will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Portage First United Methodist Church, 8740 S. Westnedge Ave., Portage, Mich.
She passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Borgess Medical Center.
She was born in England on Jan. 15, 1957, to David and Shirley Robbins.
Cindy graduated in 1975 from Logansport High School, where she was the senior class president. She earned her doctorate of audiology from the University of Florida and was a co-owner and an audiologist for Hearing Services and Systems in Portage, Mich. for over 20 years. She was an active member of Portage First United Methodist Church and of the Quota Club.
Members of Cindy’s family include her husband, Marshall, whom she married on June 24, 1978; their sons Zac and Lucas; her mother, Shirley Robbins; her brothers, David Robbins and Brian Robbins; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, make a memorial donation to the Portage Central High School Performing Arts Scotland Trip.

He died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, in Caring Hands Health Care Center in Peru.

Anna May Smith
Services for Anna May Smith, 84, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
She died at 11:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Chase Center.
Born Dec. 20, 1923, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Cyril and Myrtle Marie Gibbs McClain. She was married Jan. 5, 1968, in Logansport, to George T. Smith, who survives.
Anna was a housewife and had served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II.
Also surviving are sons, George Michael Smith and wife, Tanya, Fort Wayne, Terry Smith, Sunrise, Fla., and Richard Allen Smith and wife, Laura, Fort Wayne; sisters, Ovel Tousley and Ruby Timm, both of Logansport; sisters-in-law, Fayetta McClain, New Waverly, and Theda McClain, Logansport; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and David McClain; and one granddaughter, April Marie Smith.
Pastor Glenn Knepp will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Virgil Charles Taylor
Memorial services followed by military rites for Virgil Charles Taylor, 57, Logansport, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare in Monticello.
Born March 5, 1951, in Logansport, he was the son of William Virgil and Vala Fern Gallaher Taylor. He was married June 11, 1972, in Burnettsville, to Cathy J. Gaumer, who survives.
Virgil was employed at the D&J Gas Mart at Burnettsville.
He enjoyed woodworking, bowling and spending time with family and friends. Virgil was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam.
Also surviving are daughter, Candace E. McCracken and husband, Glen E., Burnettsville; sisters, Vala Leota Patty and husband, Leland, Lakeland, Fla., Vera Belle Taylor, Logansport, and Virginia Kay Magee and husband, Dale, Royal Center; stepsister, Beverly Lehr and husband, Calvin, Idaville; and two grandchildren, Garrett and Richard McCracken, Burnettsville.
He was preceded in death by one stepbrother and one stepsister.
Pastors Ken Smith and Mike Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery in Burnettsville.

She died at 5:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.

John M. McMath
FORTUNA, Calif. - A celebration of life was held for the Rev. John M. McMath, 90, Fortuna, Calif., on Oct. 3 in Fortuna United Methodist Church.
He passed away at Sequoia Springs Assisted Care, in Fortuna, on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, of Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Wagon Mound, N.M., to James and Iva Countryman McMath. When John was 7 years old, his family moved to Upland, Ind.
John was a hard worker. He learned creativity and diligence from his Grandpa Countryman when he was just a boy. John became an Eagle Scout. He won a trip to the Chicago World’s Fair for selling the most Indianapolis News subscriptions in Upland. He was on the basketball and swim teams in both high school and college. After high school, John was an apprentice printer. He then decided to follow his calling to become a minister.
John was married Sept. 8, 1940, to Mary V. Ladd. They attended college in Illinois and Michigan. To support his wife and first child, John worked on the railroad and served two churches. In 1944, the family moved to Atlanta, Ga., where John graduated from Emory University’s School of Divinity.
He was the pastor of Methodist churches in Georgia and Indiana. The family moved to California in 1951, where John served churches in South Sacramento, Rio Linda, Crescent City, Porterville, Atwater, Auburn and again in Rio Linda. These churches flourished under his leadership. The McMaths helped with rescue and recovery during both the Crescent City tsunami and 1964 flood. “Mac” organized youth activities in his churches, including a work camp to Alaska. He directed several church camps within the California-Nevada Conference. John loved to teach classes in Christian theology. He put his thoughts into his book, “The Now of Our Human Destiny.”
The McMath clan of seven camped and made many cross-country auto trips. A highlight in John’s life was traveling with fellow ministers throughout Europe and the Holy Land in 1954.
In 1980, John and Mary retired to their property in the foothills of El Dorado County.
The McMaths spent the summers of their retirement years on their farm in Walton, Ind. Each grandchild enjoyed a personal visit with their grandparents in Indiana.
Rev. McMath is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary, and their five children, Ruth Guinane, San Luis Obispo County, Calif., Jo Anne Center (Rick), Fortuna, Calif., John McMath, Jr. (Carol), West Linn, Ore., James McMath (Sabine), Santa Fe, N.M., and Jane Chang (Jerry), Dinuba, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ellen Lambert, Warsaw, Ind.; and his brother, Jim McMath (Marjorie), Walton, Ind.
The family is very grateful to all the staff at Sequoia Springs, where John spent the last four years of his life. Those who work in the Sunny Springs unit are especially loved and appreciated.
Pastor Ray Dowdy honored Rev. John with his personal words of admiration.

Herschel ‘Ed’ Snyder
PERU - Services for Herschel “Ed” Snyder, 88, Peru, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru.
He died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 in Johnson County Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
Pastor Robert Adelsperger and Chaplain Steve Fleck will officiate. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery, Rochester.

He died at 9:01 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Charles R. ‘Bud’ Combs
Services for Charles R. “Bud” Combs, 70, Lucerne, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
He died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, in Chase Nursing Center, Logansport.
Born Aug. 7, 1938, he was the son of Ray and Minervia Jane Short Combs. He was married Aug. 5, 1961, in Logansport, to Carolyn Rombold, who survives.
He was employed in maintenance at Wilson Foods for several years. He later worked as a wave operator for Total Electronics.
He was a member and past president of the Lucerne Lions Club. Bud served as a member of the Lucerne Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He enjoyed camping, going to tractor pulls and NASCAR.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Lena Vancil and Deborah Walker, both of Lucerne, and Jodi Ricci, Greenwood; one son, Jason Combs, Logansport; one sister, Eva Long, Abbeville, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Jr.; one brother; and several sisters.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport.
Rev. Jerry Partenberry will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
