MC Odom

MC Odom, 82, of 51381 CR 35 Bristol, IN. died at 2:50 A.M. on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his residence, after an extended battle with cancer. He was born March 1, 1926 in Jasper, AL., to Thomas Vandever and Emma Belle (Carrington) Odom. He married Inell Sherer on February 8, 1945 in Jasper, AL . They moved to this area in the early 1950’s coming from Alabama. He had worked at Krider Nursery, Middlebury for several years and later was a cabinet maker for Mark-Line Industries, Bristol from where he retired. He also was the owner/operator of Odom Landscaping and Shrub Trimming. He was a WWII Army veteran and a past member of the American Legion Post # 143, Bristol. He was well known for attending local slow pitch softball games. Survivors include his wife, Inell Odom and 3 Daughters, Sarah & Richard Neff of Middlebury, IN, Sandy & Jim Draime-Wellman of Bristol, IN., and Shirley & Ken Booth of Bristol, IN.; 6 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Virgie Burton of Jasper, AL, Grace Deason of Jasper, AL; 2 Brothers, Roy Odom of Cordova, AL, and Dewey & Ginger Odom of NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers: Willard, Lawrence, Lloyd, Jack and Gerald Odom. Visitation will be from 1 - 5 PM Sunday at the Miller Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dale Brock. Burial will be in Mottville Cemetery, Mottville, MI . Memorials may be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care of Elkhart County.

Mary A. Miller

Mary A. Miller, 78, of 1439 Good Ave. Sarasota, FL died at 9:55 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care Sarasota, FL. She was born August 13, 1930 in Sugar Creek, OH, to Abner B. and Lovina (Erb) Miller. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Order Amish Church. Survivors include several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-mother: Lydia Ann Mishler-Miller, a sister: Edna Miller and a brother: Simon A.B. Miller. Visitation will be after 2 PM Sunday at the Clyde Miller Residence, 2865 North 1000 West Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 AM on Monday, October 27, 2008 at the same residence. Services will be conducted by the Bishop Calvin Lambright and Rev. Norman Miller. Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka, IN.

Clara J. Miller

Clara J. Miller, 86, of 55237 CR 43 Middlebury, IN died at 10:45 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at her residence. She was born February 7, 1922 in Middlebury, IN, to Joseph D. and Barbara A. (Helmuth) Lehman. On March 22, 1945 she married William H. Miller, he died March 16, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors include 9 Daughters, Laura Anna Miller of Middlebury, IN, Barbara Ellen & Paul Wagler of Middlebury, IN, Lena Miller of Middlebury, IN, Katie Miller of Middlebury, IN, Rosa & LeRoy Yoder of Lewistown, IL., Susie Miller of Middlebury, IN, Mary & Alvin Yoder of Middlebury, IN, Alma & Perry, Jr. Nisley of Goshen, IN., Bertha Miller of Middlebury, IN; 4 Sons, Joseph & Treva Miller of LaGrange, IN, Ivan & Mary Miller of Middlebury, IN, Edwin & Miriam Miller of Middlebury, IN, and Sam & Marilyn Miller of Goshen, IN.; 52 Grandchildren, 59 Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Katie & Willis Hochstetler of LaGrange, IN, Susie & Albert Mast of Fairbanks,, IA; Brother, Henry & Elizabeth Lehman of Chetek, WI; Sister-in-law, Emma Yoder of Millersburg, IN.; Brother-in-law, Milton Yoder of Grantsville, MD. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Lizzie (Milton) Yoder and Barbara Lehman, 2 brothers; Walter & Daniel Lehman. Visitation will be after 2 PM Monday and all day Tuesday at the family residence. Funeral services will be at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the family residence. Services will be conducted by the Bishop Perry Mast and the home ministers . Bertha I. Speicher

Bertha I. Speicher, 93, of 1300 Greencroft Dr. Apt. 3 Goshen, IN. formerly of Shipshewana and Middlebury, died at 2:08 AM on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Greencroft Health Care Center, Goshen, IN. She was born August 24, 1915 in Seward County, NE, to Andrew and Mary (Martin) Gingerich. On October 26, 1935 in Valparaiso, IN she married Willis Speicher. He died April 10, 1995. She was a homemaker, worked in the cafeteria for the Middlebury schools and worked for 16 1/2 years as a waitress at the Village Inn, Middlebury. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Middlebury where she had taught Sunday school for 18 years, was active in the "WMSC", the Mary & Martha Circle, the Dorcas Class and served many years at the donut booth during the Mennonite Relief Sale. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl & Brad Miller of Shipshewana, IN.; a son, A. Dean & Char Speicher of Granger, IN; a grandson, Matthew & Candi Miller of Goshen, IN.; 2 granddaughters, Sarah Miller of LaGrange, IN and Donelle & Steve Zunker of Potomac Falls, VA; 2 step-granddaughters, Daniel & Sara Cain; 5 great grandchildren, Ava, Blaine & Caelan Miller and Alexis & Asher Kennedy; a brother, Alvin Gingerich of Vacaville, CA; and special family friends, Derek & Darlene Kennedy of LaGrange, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Aaron Miller; 3 sisters: Nellie Gingerich, Elsie Birky and LaVera Birky; 4 brothers: Joe, Ed, Irvin and Delmar Gingerich. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Linford Martin and the Rev. Pamela Yoder. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to the Goshen Division of the Greencroft Foundation.

William L. "Tiny" Lambright

William L. "Tiny" Lambright, 58, of 1367 South Randolph Garrett, IN, formerly of Ligonier, died at 7:26 PM on Friday, November 28, 2008 at Lutheran Hospital Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born June 14, 1950 in Goshen, IN., to Ervin W. and Katie (Miller) Lambright. He was a resident of Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett since 1999 due to his many physical limitations. William was blind, diabetic, was requiring dialysis three times a week, and had both feet and some fingers amputated in the last several years. Despite these handicaps he exemplified tremendous kindness and patience to those around him. Those who knew him, knew he lived for and loved to kid with anyone nearby, and fully expected and took great pleasure in their reciprocation! In his earlier years, his passion was spending time on his pontoon Lake Wawasee. Survivors include Sister, Amanda Harstine of Syracuse, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Glenn Jo Lambright. Graveside funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Thomas Cemetery, Goshen. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Mahlon Miller. He would have appreciate memorial contributions made in his name; to Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation, P0 Box 548, Syracuse, IN.

Loranna G. Yoder

Loranna G. Yoder, stillborn daughter of Glen J. Yoder and Clara L. (Miller) Yoder, of 65903 CR 33 Goshen, IN. was delivered at 3: 20 PM on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the Lloyd A. Miller residence in Honeyville, IN. Survivors include her parents, Glen J. & Clara L. Yoder of Goshen, IN.; 2 Brothers, Marlin G. Yoder and Orvin G. Yoder both at home; 2 Grandparents, Henry, Jr. & Ruby Yoder of Goshen, IN., and Lloyd A. & Mary Anna Miller of Topeka, IN. She was preceded in death by grandmother: Emma Yoder. Family funeral services will be held. Services will be conducted by Bishop LaVerne J. Lehman and the home ministers. Burial will be in Nisley Cemetery, Goshen.

Edith Ann Gingerich

Edith Ann Gingerich, 61, of 614 Bristol Avenue Middlebury, IN died at 8:35 PM on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Greencroft Health Care Center Goshen, IN., where she had lived for past four years. She was born January 11, 1947 in Goshen, IN, to Abner and Barbara (Yoder) Slabach. On December 12, 1970 in White Pigeon, MI. she married Lester Gingerich. She was a homemaker and employed for 23 years at Coachmen Industries, Middlebury working with pre-fabrications in the cabinet shop, she retired on April 4, 2004. She enjoyed helping other people and especially making items for her three grandsons, she also enjoyed finding bargains at garage sales. Survivors include her husband, Lester Gingerich and Daughter, Loretta Darlene & Tim McNall of Manchester, IN; Son, Vern Leon & Jessica Gingerich of Elkhart, IN; 3 Grandsons, Tanner, Tyler and Trey McNall; Mother, Barbara (Yoder) Slabach of Middlebury, IN; 3 Sisters, Mary & Clarence Schmucker of Middlebury, IN, Amelia & Harry, Jr. Mishler of Dalton, WI, Christina & Jim Burke of Middlebury, IN; 6 Brothers, Joe & Clara Slabach of Middlebury, IN, Ervin & Mary Slabach of Sturgis, MI, Ernest & Martha Slabach of Shipshewana, IN., John & Pam Slabach of Goshen, IN., Christ & Waneta Slabach of Shipshewana, IN., Nathaniel & Wilma Slabach of Topeka, IN. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother Elmer Slabach. Visitation will be from 1 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 1, 2008 at First Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by the Pastor John D. Yoder and Pastor Joe Slabach. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Memorials may be given to the Greencroft Health Care Center OR Care at Home Hospice of Goshen General Hospital.

Lewis Henry Piepenbrink

Lewis Henry Piepenbrink, 72, of Topeka, IN died at 4:40 PM on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at his residence, he had been in declining health for the past year. He was born January 29, 1936 in Terre Haute, IN, to William C. and Helen Leone (Vogus) Piepenbrink. On April 30, 1998 in Goshen, IN he married Glendola Elaine Ebersole Burkey. He was a pharmacists working in several area pharmacies including, Judds Pharmacy and Revco Pharmacy both in Elkhart, IN and Hooks Pharmacy in Mooresville, IN. He was a Purdue University graduate and a charter member of the Optimist Club in Mooresville, IN. Survivors include his wife, Glendola Elaine Piepenbrink, a son, Steve Piepenbrink of Zionsville, IN; 2 daughters, Elizabeth & Joseph Schwecke of Denver, CO, and Susan & Jim Farrar of Denver, CO; 6 grandchildren; a sister, Carol Miller of Poland, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 1 - 5 PM Sunday at the Emma Mennonite Church, Topeka. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the church. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Gene Hartman. There will be a 1:00 PM graveside service on Tuesday December 2, 2008 at the Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, IN. Memorials may be given to the LaGrange County Cancer Society Inc, 300 South Detroit Street, LaGrange IN.
