James L. Gyomory

James L. Gyomory, 63, of 64874 Lutz Road Constantine, MI. died at 9:03 AM on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Goshen General Hospital Goshen, IN., after his battle with cancer. He was born April 13, 1945 in Deford, MI., to Daniel and Mary (Laszlo) Gyomory. On December 10, 2004 in Sturgis, MI. he married Carol (Poley) Cheeks. He had worked for over 20 years for Crest Homes, Middlebury working in quality control and overseeing the drafting department. He was a member of the Elkhart Moose, he was an avid photographer and enjoyed cross country skiing, NASCAR, and was greatly interested in the lighthouses of the Great Lakes. Survivors include his wife, Carol Gyomory and 2 Sons, Brian (Noelle) Gyomory of Simpsonville, SC, Darin (Linda) Gyomory of Flower Mound, TX; 2 Step-Daughters, Erin Drake of Brown County, IN, Cassondra (Bill) Tomlinson of Mendon, MI; 2 Step-Sons, Jason Wentworth of Howe, IN, Earlin Cheeks of Three Rivers, MI; 3 Grandchildren, 6 Step-Grandchildren; Sister, Jean (Mike) Murphy of Holt, MI and the mother of his children, Judy (Kosto) Gyomory. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury, IN. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am following the visitation. Services will be conducted by Rev. Rick Lambright. Burial will be in Novesta Cemetery, Cass City, MI. Memorials may be given to Chronic Disease Fund, 10880 John W. Elliott Drive Suite 400 Frisco, TX 75034.

David M. Otto

David M. Otto, 61, of 10385 West 050 North Middlebury, IN died at 4:15 AM on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at his residence. He had been ill for the past two days but his death was very unexpected. He was born March 20, 1947 in Middlebury, IN., to Milt and Mary (Troyer) Otto. On July 3, 1969 in Elkhart County, IN he married Ruth Ann Yoder, she survives. He was self employed as a farmer and ran his own coal sales business. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Otto and 3 Daughters, Dorothy (Allen) Miller of Shipshewana, IN., Edith Anne (Chris, Jr.) Lambright of Topeka, IN, Kathryn (Kenneth) Whetstone of Topeka, IN; 6 Sons, Kenneth (LeAnna) Otto of Middlebury, IN, Wade (Ruth Ellen) Otto of Topeka, IN, Mark (Rosanne) Otto of Middlebury, IN, James (Brenda) Otto of Topeka, IN, Jerry (Melissa) Otto of Middlebury, IN, Norman (special friend Geneva Nissley) Otto of Middlebury, IN; 27 Grandchildren; 3 Sisters, Wilma (Daniel) Frey of Hillsdale, MI, Edna (Clarence) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN., Mary Otto of Topeka, IN; 3 Brothers, Daniel (Elsie) Otto of Topeka, IN, Perry (Edna) Otto of Kingston, WI, Fred (Mary) Otto of Kingston, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Jerry and Vernon Otto, 7 sisters: Katie Yoder, Fannie Lambright, Elma Lambright, Lizzie Ann Bontrager, Elmina Yoder, Anna Lambright and Clara Otto. Visitation will be after 1 pm Saturday and all day Sunday at the family's residence. Funeral services will be at 9:30 AM on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Amos King Residence, 10540 West 050 North. Services will be conducted by Bishop Chris Lambright and the home ministers. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Middlebury, IN.

John E. Rawlings

John E. Rawlings, 78, of Bradenton, FL. died at 5:15 AM on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his residence. He was born December 24, 1930 in Indianapolis, IN., to Jack and Catherine (Ellis) Rawlings. On April 17, 1972 he married Nancy L. (Prough) Rawlings, she survives. He was self employed doing tax and accounting services. He was a member of the Palma Sola Presbyterian Church, and was a Past Master of the Manatee Masonic Lodge No. 31, Bradenton, FL. He enjoyed providing services to his clients and thrived on helping others. Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, John, II (Bonnie) Rawlings, TN; Half-sister, Christina (James) Roberson, FL.; Half-brother, John (Debbie) Neese, TN. He was preceded in death by Parents. A memorial service will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Manatee Masonic Lodge No. 31, 2806 56th Ave Circle E, Bradenton, FL. Private family services will be held in Middlebury. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury, IN. Memorials may be given to The Agency of the Donor's Choice.

Vada Stutzman

Vada Stutzman, 88, of 1225 Greencroft Dr. Goshen, IN., formerly of Aurora, OH. died at 10:30 PM on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Greencroft Health Care Center Goshen, IN., where she had lived for the past 5 years. She was born May 27, 1920 in Serward, NE, to Perry and Lena (Rediger) Stutzman . On April 27, 1941 in Aurora, OH. she married Ray Allen Stutzman, he died September 26, 1993. She was a Homemaker. Survivors include 4 daughters, Suzann Stucky, CO, Betty Jordon, AZ, Shirley Craft, AZ, Connie Leedy of Homersville, OH; 5 Sons, David Stutzman of Shipshewana, IN., Devon Stutzman of Finley, OH, Dennis Stutzman, AR, Larry Stutzman, AR, Vernon Stutzman, FL; 40 Grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren; a sister, Berdean (Vercoe) Jones of Goshen, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter Sherry Weaver. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, OH.

Lester J. Byler

Lester J. Byler, 88, of 0130 West 300 South LaGrange, IN died at 1:25 PM on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital after a six day stay. He was born September 29, 1920 in Nappanee, IN., to John G. and Lovina (Burkholder) Byler. On April 24, 1941 in LaGrange County he married Ella W. (Miller) Byler, she survives. He was a dairy farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors include his wife, Ella W. Byler and 6 Daughters, Edna Miller of LaGrange, IN, Arlene (Ivan H.) Bontrager of Bonduel, WI, Leanna (Melvin J.) Yoder of LaGrange, IN, Luella (Mervin E.) Miller of LaGrange, IN, Ruth (Aaron N.) Miller of Ligonier, IN, Velma (Perry C.) Yoder of Topeka, IN; 2 Sons, Mervin L. (Rebecca) Byler of Wolcottville, IN, and Vernon L. (Edna Fern) Byler of LaGrange, IN; 44 Grandchildren, 7 Step Grandchildren, 83 Great Grandchildren, 26 Step Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild; Sister, Elizabeth Byler of Shipshewana, IN.; Brother, Elmer (Anna) Byler of Nappanee, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Atlee Miller; a great grandchild; a step grandchild; a brother, Joe Byler; 2 sisters, Lydia Mae Miller and Mary Miller; 2 step-sisters and 5 step-brothers. Visitation will be after 1 PM Monday and all day Tuesday at the Vernon L. Byler Residence, 0090 West 300 South, LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Raymond Miller Residence, 0115 West 300 South, LaGrange. Services will be conducted by the Bishop Marvin Graber and the home ministers. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, LaGrange, IN.

Donald Devon Pletcher

Donald Devon Pletcher, 75, of 59477 Peppermint Dr. Elkhart, IN, formerly of Shipshewana, died at 8:46 AM on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Elkhart General Hospital Elkhart, IN., he had been in declining health one year. He was born May 6, 1933 in Shipshewana, IN, to Lester and Irma (Weirich) Pletcher. On July 2, 1953 he married Beverly (Burbank) Pletcher, she survives. He lived most of his life in Shipshewana. He was a farmer, gravel hauler, and a milk hauler for 17 years for Silver Cup and County Line Cheese. He worked at Holly Park and at Don-A-Bell Mobil Homes; he retired in 1998 from Westview School as a custodian. He served in the Army from 1954 - 1955 and was a 1951 graduate of Shipshewana School. He was a member of the Shipshewana United Methodist Church, a member of the Harley Owners Group, and was a volunteer fireman for the Shipshewana Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Pletcher and Daughter, Deanne (John) Kime of Elkhart, IN; Son, Douglas Pletcher of Elkhart, IN; 2 Grandsons, Bradley & Steve Kime; 2 Brothers, Delmer Pletcher of Howe, IN, Dwayne Pletcher of Shipshewana, IN.; 3 Nephews & 1 Niece. He was preceded in death by parents. Visitation will be from 3 - 7 PM Monday at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 7:00 PM on Monday, February 2, 2009 also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Charles McPeek. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen. Memorials may be given to Shipshewana United Methodist Church.

Nathaniel David Stutzman

Nathaniel David Stutzman was stillborn to Curtis Eugene and Rita Janelle (Miller) Stutzman, of 0255 North 1150 West Middlebury, IN at 8:12 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the New Eden Care Center Topeka, IN. Survivors include his parents, 3 brothers, Titus, Lucas and Jason Stutzman and sister, Eden Stutzman all at home; 2 Grandparents, Howard & Lena Stutzman of Middlebury, IN, Ray & Rosetta Miller of Bristol, IN.; Great Grandmother, Ida Stutzman of Middlebury, IN; Great Grandparents, Chriss & Lovina Miller of Middlebury, IN. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM Thursday at the Forks Mennonite Church, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 30, 2009 at the church. Services will be conducted by Rev. Thad Lechlitner and Rev. Troy Brubaker of the Roselawn Conservative Mennonite Church. Burial will be in Miller-Glick-Stutzman Cemetery, Middlebury. Nathaniel’s grandfathers will serve as pallbearers.

Betty L. Painter

Betty L. Painter, 72, of 9230 West 750 North Shipshewana, IN. died at 9:22 AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Parkview LaGrange Hospital, LaGrange, IN. She was born February 21, 1936 in Parshall, ND, to Lewis and Martha (Lesser) Snyder. On November 19, 1954 in Mt. Hope, WV she married Audrey "Neale" Painter, he survives She was a Homemaker. Other survivors include her 4 sisters, Pearl Barnes of Redmond, WA, Olga Hamilton of Stark, FL, Carol Roshong of Leesville, LA, Dorothy Turner of Cleveland, TX; and a brother, William A. Snyder of Leesville, LA. She was preceded in death by her mother and step father, Martha & Homer Sensing; her father, Lewis Snyder and an infant sister. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 PM Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury, IN. Funeral services will begin at 4:00 PM on Saturday also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Rick Lambright.
