Mary Ellen (Frey) Bontrager

Mary Ellen (Frey) Bontrager, 90, of 7050 West 250 North Shipshewana, IN. died at 2:20 PM on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Susie Ellen (John) Hostetler, in Shipshewana. She was born January 31, 1920 in Topeka, IN., to Daniel D.M. and Elizabeth (Miller) Frey. On January 16, 1941 in LaGrange County she married Abraham A. Bontrager, he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors in addition to her husband are four daughters, Anna Marie (Delbert) Mast of LaGrange, IN, Susie Ellen (John) Hostetler of Shipshewana, IN., Elsie Mae (Richard) Stevens of Topeka, IN, Mary Etta (Wayne) Miller of Shipshewana, IN.; four sons, Freeman jay (Mary Ellen) Bontrager of LaGrange, IN, Ernest Dean (Zandra) Bontrager of Elm City, Menno Laverne (LaFonda) Bontrager of Brooklyn, MI, Harley Wayne (special friend, Tina Simms) Bontrager of Goshen, IN.; 27 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; a brother, Daniel Frey of Waldron, MI; a sister, Elizabeth (Arthur) Hochstetler of Topeka, IN; two sisters-in-law, Susie Frey of Topeka, IN, and Ida Frey of Topeka, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; three daughters, Amelia Irene, Alma Arlene and Lorene Kay Bontrager; three brothers, Tobias, Joseph and John Frey; three sisters, Anna Miller, Barbara Lambright, and Edna Mae Hochstetler. Visitation will be after 2 PM on Thursday and all day Friday at the John Hostetler Residence, 7155 West 250 North Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:00 AM (note early time do to other funeral in area) on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Orville Bontrager Residence, 2070 North 700 West Shipshewana. Services will be conducted by Bishop Casper Hochstetler and the home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Mahlon J. Wingard

Mahlon J. Wingard, 62, of 1320 North 720 West Shipshewana, IN. died at 2:15 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at his residence. He was born December 29, 1947 in LaGrange County, IN, to Joseph and Nora (Miller) Wingard. On April 16, 1970 in LaGrange County he married Esther L. Troyer, she survives. He was a farmer and worked at local factories. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors in addition to his wife, Esther L. Wingard are four sons, Martin (Doretta) Wingard of Middlebury, IN, Michael (Wilma) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN., Leon (Anna) Wingard of Middlebury, IN, Harlan (Linda) Wingard of Middlebury, IN; three daughters, Anne (Eugene) Lehman of Middlebury, IN, Naoma (LeRoy) Mullet of Shipshewana, IN., Mary (ElRoy) Mullet of Shipshewana, IN.; 30 Grandchildren; eight brothers, Clarence (Edna) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN., Elmer (Ella) Wingard of Topeka, IN, Joseph, Jr. (Betty) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN., Raymond (Dora) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN., Freman (Leora) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN., Ferman (Barbara) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN., John (Sara) Wingard of Topeka, IN, Jay (Ruth) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN.; three sisters, Mary (Harry) Mast of Topeka, IN, Ruby (Ervin) Mast of Middlebury, IN, Mary (Orley) Miller of Shipshewana, IN.; a sister-in-law, Wima (Perry) Wingard of Shipshewana, IN.; a brother-in-law, Edward, Jr. Lambright of Shipshewana, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Perry Wingard; four sisters, Ida Mae Shrock, Elizabeth Schlabach, Irma Wingard and Esther Lambright. Visitation will be after 1 PM on Thursday and all day Friday at the family's residence. Funeral services will be at 9:30 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Phil Miller Residence, 6685 West 100 North Shipshewana. Services will be conducted by Bishop Gerald Troyer and the home ministers. Burial will be in East Barren Cemetery, Shipshewana, IN.

Noah J. Miller

Noah J. Miller, 80, of 62707 East County Line Road Goshen, IN. died at 3:40 PM on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, he had been in declining health. He was born August 24, 1929 in Dodge City, KS, to Joe B. and Lydia (Troyer) Miller. On May 21, 1959 in Nappanee, IN he married Katie Miller, she survives. He was a farmer and a Senior Bishop in the Old Order Amish Church. Survivors in addition to his wife, Katie Miller are five sons, Howard (Stephanie) Miller of Goshen, IN., Wayne (Karen) Miller of Shipshewana, IN., Maynard (Clara) Miller of Shipshewana, IN., Larry (Merideth) Miller of Goshen, IN., LaVern (Christy) Miller of Goshen, IN.; five daughters, Sharon (Kenneth) Stutzman of Shipshewana, IN., Esther (Marvin) Yoder of Millersburg, IN., Mary (Dennis) Yoder of Goshen, IN., Rachel (Richard) Fry of Topeka, IN, Rosetta (Lloyd) Schwartz of Middlebury, IN; 47 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; a brother, Crist (Katie) Miller of Shipshewana, IN.; three sisters, Sue Yoder of Topeka, IN, Katie Bontrager of Shipshewana, IN., Mary Miller of Goshen, IN. He was preceded in death by a son: Steven Miller in 2001, five brothers, Roman, William, Ben, David and Joe B. Miller, Jr. Visitation will be after 2 PM on Tuesday and all day Wednesday at his residence. Funeral services will be at 9: 30 AM on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Galen Lambright Residence (across the road from the families residence), Services will be conducted by Bishop Marlin Frey and the home ministers. Burial will be in Southeast Clinton Cemetery, Goshen.

Ella Mullet

Ella Mullet, 84, of LaGrange, IN. died at 11:29 PM on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the home of her daughter, Elsie (Delbert) Schrock, in LaGrange. She was born September 13, 1925 in Millersburg, OH, to Harvey and Susanna (Gingerich) Schlabach. On December 16, 1947 in Millersburg, OH she married Ervin Mullet, he survives. She was a homemaker and a member of Faithhaven Chapel, LaGrange. Surviving in addition to her husband, Ervin Mullet, are three daughters, Elsie (Delbert) Schrock of LaGrange, Esther (Harold) Headings of Sheffield, IL, Martha (Ray) Stutzman of Lakeville; three sons, Paul (Marjorie) Mullet of Columbus, NC, Willis (Jossie) Mullet of Goshen, Myron (Angie) Mullet of Greenwood, SC; 21 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Miller of Gamebier, OH, and Amanda (Roy) Wengerd of Millersburg, OH; a brother, Emanuel (Mary) Schlabach of Millersburg, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Verna Schlabach and Mattie Troyer and a great grandson, Jordan Sensing. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM on Monday and 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM on Tuesday at the Townline Mennonite Church, 2165 South 1000 West, Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the church. Services will be conducted by Pastors Daniel Bontrager and Henry Hershberger. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Austin L. Berkey

Austin L. Berkey, 77, of 1300 Green Croft Drive Goshen, IN. died at 6:30 AM on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Greencroft Health Care Center Goshen, IN. He was born August 19, 1932 in LaGrange County, IN., to Cletus and Clara (Miller) Berkey. Austin worked in Chicago for 8 years; then from 1979 to 1987 at Ft. Harrison, Indianapolis retiring in 1987 as a computer programmer. He graduated in 1955 from Goshen College, and then received his Masters of Divinity in 1956 from Goshen Biblical Seminary. Survivors include a sister, Rosaleta (Ray) Miller of Goshen; a brother, David (Sheila) Berkey of Goshen, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marilyn Williams and a brother, Dwight Berkey. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 AM on Friday at the Meeting House of Greencroft Health Care, (please us North entrance). Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Meeting House. Services will be conducted by Chaplain Velma Swartz. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to Greencroft Foundation.

Ralph A. Yoder

Ralph A. Yoder, 69, of Shipshewana, IN. died at 9:50 PM on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at his residence, after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer. He was born July 10, 1940 in LaGrange to Robert A. and Esther (Sailers) Yoder. On October 23, 1965 in Elkhart he married Ella (Prough) Yoder, she survives. He worked 7 years for Farver Lumber Company and 31 years for the Indiana State Highway Department. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge, LaGrange and of the Eagles Lodge, Sturgis, MI. Survivors in addition to his wife, Ella Yoder are a son, Robert (Tony) Yoder of Clackamas, OR; two sisters, Marcella (Alvin) Miller and Alice (Jerry) Rickey both of Goshen; a brother, Jim (Nancy) Yoder of Middlebury. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 2 - 7 PM on Wednesday at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Charles McPeek. Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to Care at Home Hospice of Goshen General Hospital or the Shipshewana United Methodist Church.

Ed L. Baer

Ed L. Baer, 59, of Middlebury, IN died at 12:34 PM on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne, after a brief illness. He was born July 23, 1950 in South Bend, IN, to Arthur, Sr. and Irene (Johnson) Baer. On November 2, 1974 in Middlebury he married Sharon Troyer, she survives. He was self-employed. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed to grill out and cook for his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife, Sharon Baer are two daughters, Candy Baer and Kim (Jon Godman) Baer both of Middlebury; two sons, Mark Baer of Middlebury, and Mike Baer of Rockford, IL; four grandchildren; his father, Arthur Baer, Sr. of Goshen; his mother, Irene (Keith) Smith of Goshen; two brothers, Chuck Baer and Art Baer, Jr. both of Goshen. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 pm on Tuesday and from 10 to 11 am on Wednesday all at the Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the funeral home. A private family burial will follow the funeral at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Rev. Linda Craig. Memorials may be given to Middlebury Food Pantry.
