Tracy L. Tichenor
Owensville, IN - Tracy L. Tichenor, 58, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born June 1, 1958 in Princeton, IN to the late Percy and Helene (Lucas) Tichenor. Tracy was a graduate of Gibson Southern High School class of 1976. He was working as a calibrator for Norris Scale Company. Tracy had a number of pass times but his favorite was spending time with his grandchildren. Other hobbies that he enjoyed were fishing and rock hunting. Survivors include his children, Tyson L Tichenor, Heather D. Pegram and Amber M. Tichenor; 8 grandchildren; friend, Debbie Tyring; Siblings, Percilla Taylor, Pat (Jack) Wilder, Terry (Wanda), Tim (Betty) Tichenor; several nieces and nephews. Tracy was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Mick Taylor. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Holders Funeral Home with Bob Douglas officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the service time. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory at the Elberfeld State Bank for his grandchildren’s educational fund.
Kathleen (Land) Seals
Kathleen (Land) Seals, 82, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born in Gibson County on October 1, 1934 to the late James Morton and Stella (Trusty) Land. Kathleen was a graduate of Owensville High School class of 1953 had worked at both Potter and Brumfield and Meisler’s as an assembler. She is survived by her children, David Lee (Donna) Seals, Elizabeth Ann Murphree, and James (Mike) Seals; 10 grandchildren, Eric Alan and Paul Gerhardt Seals, Joshua (Rachel) Seals, Alli Murphree, Leslie Annette Seals, David Paul Seals, Randal Blake Carroll, Michael Allen Seals, Autumn Jo Seals, Austin James Seals; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Aileen Mounts; brother, Kenneth Land; several nieces and nephews. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Elza Seals 40 years to the day of her passing December 29, 1976; brothers, Carl, Farrell and Deskel Land; son-in-law, Alan Murphree. Services will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Scott Burr officiating. Burial will be in the Maumee Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and again Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maumee cemetery in Kathleen’s memory.
Bonnie M. (Phillips) Willis
Owensville IN - Bonnie Mae (Phillips) Willis, 90, passed away Saturday February 4, 2017 at her residence in Owensville with her family by her side. She was born on Friday January 28, 1927, the daughter of Zircle L and Lizzie Mae(Moore) Phillips in Gilmore, Texas. She married Eugene “Jeep” Willis on Friday November 15, 1963 in Oklahoma. Bonnie was a waitress at many restaurants and worked at the Lucky 7 Liquor store for many years . She served as a member of the Owensville Town Council. She loved ALL of her grandchildren and had a smile that could light up a room. Bonnie also loved to play Rook. She is survived by her husband of 54 years “Jeep”, two daughters Carol and her husband Gary Bledsoe and Risha and her husband Frank Seals, one daughter-in-law Ruth Johnston and six grandchildren Jackie and her husband David Seaton, Tracey Bearden, Chad and his wife Hanna Smith, Ryan and his wife Jennifer James, Kathy and her husband Chris and Risha Kay Seals. Also surviving are fourteen great grandchildren Courtney and her husand Corey Burton, Lance and his wife Amber Seaton, Logan and his wife Emily Seaton, Lauren, Laney, Nicholas, Alma and Lawrence Smith, Kody Johnston, Brooke Presley, Chaney, Eastyn, Adler, and Alliana James, and six great great grandchildren Ally, Kelsey, Clayton, Lydia, Lyla and Jacob. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Maxine Wilkinson, a son Phillip Johnston and a grandson Lonnie Johnston. There will be a graveside service on Thursday February 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Owensville Cemetery in Owensville IN. A visitation will precede the graveside on Thursday February 9, 2017 at 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the chapel of Holders Funeral Home in Owensville.
Harry Leonard Watson
Johnson, IN - Harry Leonard Watson, 79, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Gibson General Hospital skilled nursing facility. He was born in Gibson County September 28, 1937 to the late Lora Watson. Leonard worked for the Gibson County Solid Waste Department for 37 years. He had a passion for what he would call junking people that new him well appreciated that in him. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sylvia M. (Pugh) Watson; daughter, Veda Mayer; 4 grandchildren, Nicole, LeRoy, Brandy Mayer and Eliza Dill; 4 great-grandchildren, Nicolas, Joshua, Matthew and Sarah Adams; also by his loving pets. He was preceded in death by his mother. Services will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Pastor Brad Delp officiating. Burial will be in the Maumee Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 2-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maumee Cemetery in his memory.
Phyllis J. Nordhaus
Phyllis J. Nordhaus, 78, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away after battling breast cancer, on October 7, 2016 in her home surrounded by family. Born to Wayne and Kathleen Hurt of Owensville, IN on July 25, 1938, Phyllis attended high school in Owensville where she played basketball, softball, piano, and was a yell leader. Following graduation, she began her career path by moving to Washington DC to work as a secretary at the Pentagon. Eventually, Phyllis moved to Evansville, IN and graduated from the University of Evansville with a teaching degree and dedicated the rest of her 25-year career to teaching at Haubstadt and Owensville elementary schools. Phyllis enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of Indiana Hoosiers basketball, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and she remained an active booster of the Evansville Purple Aces, holding season tickets their basketball games. She also had a passion for music (especially James Brown), which she instilled in her children, and she regularly attended the Evansville Philharmonic and Jazz concerts both at home and in cities throughout the U.S. and Mexico. She was a talented musician who could play keyboard, piano, and organ by ear and while she disliked the spotlight, she often played for her church and accompanied young musicians during their recitals and competitions. After retiring from teaching, Phyllis cultivated a passion for travel throughout Mexico and frequently took family trips to locations such as Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Huatulco, and Oaxaca where she expanded her love of Mexican culture and food. A devoted Christian, Phyllis was an active member of her church, The Cathedral, and is looking forward to seeing her friends and family in Heaven. Evansville, IN - Sandy (Robinson) Khan, 54, formerly of Owensville, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Scottsburg, IN on September 23, 1961 to the late Charles and Laura (Morgan) Robinson. Sandy was a graduate of Gibson Southern High School class of 1980. She had work at Emge Packing Company for 7 years after that she became a CNA working at several facilities around the tri-state. Survivors include her husband, Moazzan Khan; her children’s father Marlin Keil; children, Jamie (Kevin) Smith and Jeff Keil; 4 grandchildren, Nevaeh, Nehemaih, Eliza Smith and Kaybri Keil; 5 sisters, Judy (Raymond) Peach, Elsie Clem, Shirley Christie, Bonnie (Vern) Chambers and Linda (Steve) Majors; 4 brothers, Charles (Grace), Steve, Larry and Bill Robinson; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Edna Spencer; brothers, Roy and Bobby Joe Robinson. Memorial service will be held Friday July 15, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Brant Hazlett officiating. Visitation held from 5:30 until the service time.
Carroll Deon Fetcher
Griffin, IN - Carroll Deon Fetcher, 77, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born in Gibson County on July 23, 1939 to the late Basil Duane and Virginia Paul (Robinson) Fetcher. Carroll was a graduate of Griffin High School class of 1957 served his country in the United States Navy and retired after 34 years from Country Mark as a supervisor. Carroll is survived by his wife Ruby (McReynolds) after 58 years of marital bliss together they would bring three son into that union, Chris, Cary and Barry; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Troy (Karen), Kent (Patty) and Roger (Sherry) Fetcher; aunt, Pauline Crawford; and host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Martha Mason, June Oliver, Mike and Steve Fetcher. Service will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Holders Funeral Home with military services by the retired military veterans Pastor Greg Morrison officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Griffin. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
