James F. Straw
Tuesday, May 20, 1947 - Saturday, August 27, 2016

Grandview IN - James F. Straw, 69, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Crawleyville IN on May 20, 1947 to the late Curtis G and Beulah Irene (Moore) Straw. He was a farmer for many years. He spent many years working for Don Masterson and Ivan Bender. James is survived by his son James Kevin (Sonia) Straw of Chrisney IN, two grandchildren Dustin and Ashley Straw. He is also survived by a brother Curtis Lee (Rose) Straw, two sisters Martha Baker and Sharon (Ernie) Dillon, a sister-in-law Nancy Straw and his former wife Shirley Straw and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Phyllis, Judy, Don and Lydia. A funeral service will be Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Holders Funeral Home with Pastor Bart Newton officiating. Burial will follow at Maumee Cemetery in Johnson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 31 from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.

Jack R. Almon
Monday, January 3, 1938 - Monday, June 20, 2016

Owensville, IN - Jack R. Almon, 78, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at his residence. He was born on January 3, 1938 in Gibson County to the late Robert Earl and Nancy Eva (Jordan) Almon. Jack is a graduate of Owensville High School class of 1956. He was a grain and livestock farmer all of his life. He was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Sue (Garrett); children, Phil (Jaymie) Almon and Wendi (Gary) Pegram daughter-in-law, Angie Almon; 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Courtney), Tyler (Hayli) and Lauren Almon, Chelsi and Shelbi Pegram; 1 great-granddaughter Annistyn Almon; 2 brothers, Jim (Edna) and John (Karen) Almon; brother-in-laws, Mike (Irma) Garrett and Boyd Saviers; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Roy Lee on July 24, 2014; brothers, Bob and Joe Ray Almon; sisters, Dorothy Beloat, Evelyn Hurt, Janie Saviers and June Clark. Graveside services will be held at Noon on Friday June 24, 2016 at Maumee Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday June 23, 2016 at Holders Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maumee Cemetery in Jack’s memory.

Owensville, IN - Winona M. Johnson, 87, passed away Monday, July 11, 20l6 at Deaconess Gateway. She was born September, 14, 1928 in Gibson County to the late Russell and Vivian Frances (Wessic) Wallace. Winnie was a homemaker and a member of the Old Union Christian Church. Survivors include her children, Donna (Denny) Clayton of Louisville, KY, Velma (Richard) Beard of Princeton, Larry (Stacy) Johnson of Owensville; daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Owen Johnson in 1995; son, Donald in 2011; 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Services will be on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Holders Funeral Home with Chris Templeton officiating. Burial will be in Maumee Cemetery in Johnson. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home. Memorial contribution may be made to your favorite charity in Winona’s memory.

Owensville, IN - Brock Lane Boyle, 53, passed from this life on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born January 15, 1963 in Owensville the son of Warren Jackson (Jack) and Phyllis Ann (Linxwiler) Boyle. Brock was a graduate of Gibson Southern High School class of 1981 and had worked at Toyota Motor Manufacturing for 14 years. Brock was a member of Fort Branch VFW Post 2714. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Laura (Weinzapfel) Boyle; mother, Phyllis Boyle; sisters, Kim (Bill) Weaver and Stacy (Chris) McClellan; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Bart Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Owensville Cemetery. Fort Branch, IN - Aerabella Jeannette Whitfield, seven day old daughter of Braden Whitfield and Amanda (Reavis) Moore passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born on August 1, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville. Surviving besides her parents are siblings, Killian and Ariahnna Moore; grandparents, Scott and Angela Reavis, Dee Ann (Robin) Matsel, Christopher Whitfield; great-grandparents, D.V. (Carolyn Wolfe) Mauck, Loretta Mauck, Joyce Whitfield, David and Elizabeth May; aunts and uncles, Ciavon (Matt) Hartman, Matthew Fetcher, Bryce, Matt and Scott Whitfield, David (Jessica) Reavis, Alexis Reavis. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Holders Funeral Home at Noon with Father Jay Davidson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service time.

Roy Franklin Carpenter
Saturday, July 25, 1936 - Friday, January 22, 2016

Roy Franklin Carpenter, age 79, born on July 25, 1936, passed away on January 22, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Dianne Carpenter, daughter Brenda Tucker of Colorado, son Terry Carpenter of Owensville, and son Lynn Carpenter of Evansville, six grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. His parents John and Pauline Carpenter, brothers Donald and Bob Carpenter, sister Joanne Saxe, granddaughter Melissa Carpenter, and great grandson Jayden Durinn preceded him in death. Roy was a member of the First Christian Church of Owensville. He was an entrepreneur, a farmer, a cars salesman, owned a concrete business, and could sell anything to anyone. After closing his car sales business, he created and opened a manufacturing business of swing pads and chair pads, which was very successful Roy’s first priority was always family, friends, and his beloved community. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville. Visitation will be held at 4-8pm Holders Monday.

Nadine (Mobley) Malone
Monday, September 3, 1928 - Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Griffin, IN - Nadine (Mobley) Malone, 87, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at her home in Griffin surrounded by her loved ones. She was born Sept. 3, 1928 in Griffin, daughter of George and Clara (Straw) Mobley. Nadine retired from Old National Bank. Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Phillip) Leach of Griffin; step-daughters, Sharon Sanders of Orlando, FL Delana (Chuck) Romanenko of Avon, IN Shannon (Scott) Kelsey of Evansville, IN; brother, Tom Mobley of Princeton, IN; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband’s Elvis Racine, Harold Winters and Paul Malone; an infant son; 8 brothers and 4 sisters. Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Holders Funeral Home in Owensville with Rev. John Matsel officiating. Burial will be in the Poseyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service time.

Owensville, IN - Mary E. Roberts, 73, passed away Wednesday January 27, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital. She was born on February 5, 1942 to the late James “Doc” and Julia Gross. Mary had worked at Shane Uniforms. She was member of the Owensville Chapter of Eastern Star #256.She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Garry; son, Kevin (Billie) Roberts; a daughter, Kelly (J) Pegram; grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Pegram, Whitney (Cheryl) Endres, Nicholas (Jalia) Pegram, Jerod and Kamden Roberts and Jalyn Pegram; great- grandchildren, Trevor, Trenton and Avery; brothers, Gil (Lois) Gross and Gene (Linda) Gross. A beloved dog Zoey. She was preceded in death by her parents and 8 siblings.Services will be held at 1p.m. Saturday at Maumee General Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday at Holders Funeral Home and Noon until service time at the church. Kevin Miley will officiate. Burial will be in the Maumee Cemetery.
