Maurice "Mo" Frederick
Maurice "Mo" Frederick, 69, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008. He was born November 9, 1938 in Providence, KY to the late Coleman and Jesse (Wade) Frederick. Mo had worked for Hawthorne Melody Ice Cream for 17 years and Smith Packing Company for 10 years as a route salesman. He has been retired for the past 14 years. He is survived by his wife, Karen (Meyer) Frederick; son, Jim (Trisha) Frederick; daughter, Kristi (Brad) Vaughan and 4 grandchildren, Tom, Trent, B.J. and Cassy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2008 at 7pm at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home. Friends are invited to gather at the funeral home to greet family members prior to the funeral service beginning at 5pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Hospice.

Stephen Thomas Kopac
Stephen Thomas Kopac, 73, Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008. He was born on June 10, 1934 in Piermont, NY to the late Peter F. and Josephine (Moskal) Kopac. Stephen served his country in US Navy from 1953-57. During this time he became a Navy SEAL and was a member of the UDT-21 team from 1955-57. After his discharge from the Navy, he became a New York State Police Officer and served from 1960 until 1978 when he retired with the rank of First Sergeant. He then worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield from 1980-1996 as an auditor in the Fraud and Abuse Unit. Stephen was a member of the Policeman's Benevolent Association, Elks Club in Rushville, IN and the Shelbyville, IN Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter, William and Thomas Kopac and his sister, Jean Culletto. He is survived by his daughter, Kari-Jo (Nick) Kopac; sisters, Pauline Dizzine, Anne Ventriglia and Florence D'Auria and brothers, John, Joseph and George Kopac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 10am at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Ave, Indpls, IN 46239. Visitation will be Sunday, March 30th from 3pm until 6pm at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St, Indpls, IN 46227 where morning prayers will be said on Monday at 9:30am prior to Mass. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery, Morristown, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to Ruth Lilly Hospice, 1800 N. Capitol Ave, PO Box 7168, Indpls, IN 46207-7168.

Carolyn Sue Shumate
Carolyn Sue Shumate, 68, Beech Grove, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008. She was born April 22, 1939 in Bedford, IN to Olin R. and Mae Luallen Bartlett. Carolyn was a graduate of Heltonville High School. She had worked as a deputy sheriff for the Marion County Sheriff's Department for over 25 years before retiring in 1991 as Detective Sergeant.
Carolyn was active in the Beech Grove Eagles #4167 where she had served as the chairperson of the needy family fund for the past 13 years. She was also a member of the Beech Grove American Legion Post 276 and the Beech Grove Moose 1589. Her favorite hobbies were playing golf and taking trips to the riverboats. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Richard Shumate; sons, Eric (Natalie) Snow and Michael Snow; brothers, Robert Bartlett, Roy Bartlett and Warren (Paula) Bartlett; 4 grandchildren. Carolyn was a godmother, aunt, great aunt and great great aunt who will be greatly missed by all her nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from 3pm until 8pm at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 26th at 11am. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ruth Lilly Hospice. Carolyn's family extends their deepest thanks to Dr. Fred Butler, Methodist Hospital and Ruth Lilly Hospice.

Kurt Henry "Tootie" Roessler
Kurt Henry "Tootie" Roessler, born November 12, 1924 in Indianapolis to William and Lena (Kringle) Roessler. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Southport High School in 1943. Kurt served in the US Navy during WWII as a Coxswain and played baseball on the Terminal Island, California Naval Baseball Team. After his discharge from the Navy, Kurt played for many years in the Indianapolis Industrial League with the Allison Jets and for Vestal Steel. He also coached youth baseball for several years at Edgewood Little League. He was a member of the UAW Local 933 and American Legion Post 355. He retired in 1990 after 46 years at Detroit Diesel Allison where he worked as a millwright. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ineta Aliff Roessler (daughter of the late Andy and Annabelle Aliff); sons, Daniel of Indpls, Gary (Alisa Nix) of Tampa, FL and Andrew (Diana) Roessler of Greenwood; daughters, Nancy (Steve) Cullom of McCordsville, Kathy (Bob) Haycox of Indpls, and Karen (Dave) Bloomfield of Indpls; grandchildren, Holly (Brian) Pieklo, Jacksonville, FL, Matthew Cullom and Joshua Haycox, both of Indpls, Hana, Sara and Elly Roessler, all of Greenwood; great grandchildren, Addison Cullom and Evan Pieklo; 2 step grandchildren and 3-step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, William and Fritz Roessler; and his sister Vera Roessler. Funeral services will begin on Thursday October 9, 2008 at 10:30am at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home followed by a service at 11am at St. Mark Catholic Church. Friends may call on Wednesday October 8th from 3pm until 8pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Greenwood, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Barnabas School, 8300 Rahke Rd. Indpls, IN 46217.

Charles Joseph Carrico
Charles Joseph Carrico, 37, Indianapolis, passed away October 6, 2008. He was born November 16, 1979 in Indianapolis to Joseph D. Jr. and Margaret (McElfresh) Carrico. Charles was a self-employed flooring installer. He is survived by his parents; sisters, Shawn (Brent) Goolsby and Danielle (Daniel Holzer) Carrico; nieces and nephews, Andrea Smith, Emily Goolsby, Kyle Goolsby, Jaxson Carrico and John Holzer. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Randy Slavens at 1pm on Saturday October 11, 2008 at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home. Friends may call on Friday from 4pm until 8pm and on Saturday from 11am until the time of service. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army Harbor Light, Substance Abuse Services, 2400 N. Tibbs St. Indianapolis, IN 46222.

Joseph Albert Watson
Joseph Albert Watson, 69, Indianapolis, passed away Thursday October 9, 2008. He was born in Indianapolis on October 15, 1938 to the late Benjamin Franklin and Rose Lola (Hammert) Watson. Joe was a 1956 graduate of Cathedral High School and owned and operated Approved Maintenance Company. He was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus Council #3660. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth (Hammond) Watson on March 23, 1993. He is survived by his children, Kevin, Patrick and Keli Watson; sister, Peggy Lambert; brothers, Bernard and Robert Watson; grandchildren, Michale, Dustin and Shelby Watson. Funeral services will be Tuesday October, 14, 2008 at 1pm at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home. Friends are invited to gather at the funeral home to greet family members on Tuesday beginning at 10am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

AUSTIN CHARLES (CARL) MADDEN
Carl completed his earthly journey on October 11, 2008. Carl was born on February 16, 1918, on a small farm in Montgomery, IN. In 1927, his family moved to Fountain Square in Indianapolis. He graduated from St. Patrick Grade School and Tech High School. Carl served in the US Navy during WWII as 1st Pharmacist Mate on LST 505. Duty included D-Day and the Philippines, earning 3 Bronze Stars. He worked at L. S. Ayres for 40 years in Men’s Fine Suits retiring in 1982. His client list was a Who’s Who of Indianapolis executives.
Carl was married to Josephine M. Kot for 36 years. Together they raised 6 children and took great pride in their education. Josephine preceded Carl in death in 1982. Carl married Delores Hertz Lannan in 1993, happily spending their golden years together.
Carl was an avid gardener, life-time member of the Knights of Columbus 3660 and sang with the Ambassador Choral Group. He was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church since 1953. He also attended St. Barnabas Catholic Church since 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Delores and brother, Ed Madden; 6 children: MaryAnn Kaiser (Mike); John (Deb); Dr. Tom (Terri); Paul (Teresa); Jeanne; and Jim (Kitty). 11 Step-children: Connie (Deceased); John; Suzie (Tim); Becky (John); Donna (Alan); Mary (Steve); Teresa (Bob); Julie (Bruce); Kathy (Mark); Tom (Jodie) and Tim; 56 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren.
Dad was an Irishman with a great sense of humor and an infinite source of Navy stories. His favorite departing line was “Keep the Faith.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 10am at St. Roch church. Friends may call on Monday from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home where morning prayers will be said on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to St. Roch Catholic School Youth Athletic Board 3600 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN 46227 or Josephine Kot Madden Scholarship Fund c/o Roncalli High School 3300 Prague Road Indianapolis, IN 46227.

Anthony Joseph Overley
Monday, October 11, 1982 - Saturday, July 2, 2016
Anthony (Tony) Joseph Overley, 33, passed away in his sleep on July 2, 2016 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis. He loved his children, playing his guitar and singing, and spending time with his family and friends.He is survived by his son, Anthony Joseph Jr (AJ); daughter, Dani Layne; wife, Amber (Pangburn); parents, Chris (Huffer) and Danny Overley; sister, Andrea Overley-Thompson (Carl); nephews, Bradley, Charles, and John; grandmother, Charlotte Huffer; and godfather, Joseph Pinnick. He is preceded in death by grandfathers, Warren Overley, John Huffer, and Carl Flowers; grandmother, Dorothy (Overley) Flowers; and godmother, Sherri (Overley) Maxfield. Visitation will be on Thursday July 7, 2016 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St. (US Hwy 31 South), Indianapolis, IN 46227 where prayers will be said on Friday at 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Roch Catholic Church, 3600 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN 46227. Contributions can be made to the Anthony Joseph Overley Children’s Fund, c/o Professional Police Officers Credit Union, 1502 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46201.
