Charlotte M. “Kelly” Kowalik, 86, Indianapolis, formerly of Orange, CA and Brookfield, WI, passed away on June 14, 2016. She was born on January 6, 1930 in Covington, Kentucky to Charles B. and Anna C. Frey Pieper. Charlotte graduated from Villa Madonna Academy in Villa Hills, KY. She was a secretary at Parke-Davis & Deluxe Data before retiring in 1992. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas John Kowalik and grandson, Colin M. Kraus. She is survived by her sons, Jeff Kowalik (Cindy) of Cape Coral, FL and Kent Kowalik of Indianapolis; her daughter, Kerri Kraus of Greenwood, IN; grandsons, Kyle Kraus of Houston, TX and Kent Kraus of Greenwood, IN; sisters, Sr. Emmanuel Pieper of Villa Hills, KY and Carol Ryan of Omaha, NE and brother, Charles Pieper of Ft. Mitchell, KY. Visitation will be Monday, June 20, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at St. Barnabas Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Walburg Monastery, 2500 Amsterdam Road, Villa Hills, KY 41017.

Pamela J. O’Connor, 72, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016. She was born in Kankakee, IL on January 17, 1944 to Russell and Virginia Hemphill. Pamela was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James O’Connor; and brother, Michael Hemphill.
She is survived by her daughter, Seana (Michael) Ray; step-son, Michael (Diana) O’Connor; sister, Judith Hemphill Gonczy; sisters-in-law, Judith Hemphill and Marilyn Therien; grandchildren, Shelby (Michael Abrams) and Connor Bosma, Christopher and Amy O’Connor, Jason (Molly) Ray, Toni Marie (Billy) Pullen; great-grandchildren, Stuart, Brody, Ian, Bryce, Brynlee, and Jason.
Pamela attended Mount Mary University and Ray-Vogue School of Design.
She was a wonderful mother, sister, friend, grandmother, and person. Her family was her life and she will be remembered for her humor and sarcasm, as well as her ability to make anyone smile. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
But know this, the ones that love us never really leave us.

Phyllis Joan Matthews

Phyllis Joan Matthews, 83, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, died on June 16, 2016. She was born on September 3, 1932 to Walter Glenn and Eleanora Bennett Foreman.
Phyllis graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She married Harold William Matthews, also of Indianapolis, on December 29, 1951. He preceded her in death.
Phyllis was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She is survived by children Harold William (“Bill”) Matthews Jr. (Karen), Barbara Rice (Greg), Thomas Matthews, Mark Matthews (Keena), Diane Bartlett, Gail Brown (Rodney), David Matthews and Amy Matthews; grandchildren Angie Conder (Chuck Williams), Christina Renollet (Howard), Victoria Bartlett (Jacob Anderson), Sam Brown, Zach Pingleton (Hannah) and Levi Pingleton; and great-grandchildren Lelan Lambert, Mason Renollet, Kayle Williams, Ayden Pingleton-Lee, Alana Pingleton-Lee, Weston Pingleton and Tovi Anderson.
She was active in St. Mark Catholic Church and participated in the church choir, quilting circle, and the Knights of Columbus Women’s Choir. Phyllis and Harold were also members of the Lucky Squares square dancing club in Indianapolis. They helped to host the National Square Dancing Convention in Indianapolis in 1999, and traveled to other national conventions as participants.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Avenue, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Daniel F. O’Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St., (US Hwy 31S), Indianapolis, IN where morning prayers will be said on Friday at 9:30 a.m. prior to Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Henrietta M. Lawrence

Henrietta Mary (Steining) Lawrence, 100, Beech Grove, IN passed away on June 12, 2016. She was born in Lafayette, IN to Henry B. Steining, RPh and Eva M. Roach on August 12, 1915. Although she lost her mother early in life, she enjoyed a happy childhood in Lafayette as well as Wapakoneta, OH. She enrolled at Purdue University, concentrating in home economics, where she met her husband, Robert H. Lawrence, Sr. When Robert enlisted in the Navy during WWII, Henrietta and her young son moved to Middletown, New York to live with Robert's mother. When the war ended Henrietta, Robert Sr. and Robert Jr. (Butch) moved back to the Midwest. They moved to the Southside of Indianapolis in 1948 and Henrietta had two more children, Mary Ellen Lawrence Krudy and Terrence W. Lawrence (deceased). The family attended St. Mark Catholic School and Church where Henrietta taught for 25 years-even substituting until the age of 77. She loved children and enjoyed trying to make a positive impact on their lives. She was named "Teacher of the Year" on two occasions at St. Mark and even had a previous student visit the day of her death. She was highly regarded by both her students and their parents as evidenced by the hundreds of cards she received on her 100th birthday. Henrietta played golf weekly at the Lake Shore County Club and El Dorado Country Club. She was an avid Bridge player and member of several Bridge groups, never missing a "Bridge Party" at one of the surrounding churches! She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and her niece's family, the Kegleys. Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Lawrence, Sr.; her son, Terrence W. Lawrence; three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son, Robert H. Lawrence, Jr. (Iris) of Navarre, FL. and her daughter, Mary Ellen Krudy (Thomas A.). She has eight grandchildren, David E. Lawrence in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (International School of Riyadh), Kathleen E. Griffith of Arlington, TX, Christian E. Lawrence (Amy) of Denton, TX, Thomas R. Krudy, Eva M. Quackenbush (AJ) of Orlando, FL., Maria N. Krudy, Nicholas A. Krudy (Sarabeth) and Adam Z. Krudy. Henrietta also has eight great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home, 6107 S. East St., (US Hwy 31S), Indianapolis, IN 46227 where prayers will be said on Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. prior to Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Mary Elizabeth Hyland Greulich, 66, Indianapolis, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016. She was born on June 13, 1949, in Cincinnati, OH to Howard and Marie Hyland. She graduated from Indiana University in June of 1971 with a degree in physical therapy and worked as a physical therapist for over 40 years most recently retiring from Rise Learning Center. She married Eric Greulich on August 28, 1971 and was a long time member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mary Beth is survived by her husband of 44 years, Eric; four children, Eric (Maryellen) Greulich, Jason (Nettie) Greulich, Matthew (Polly) Greulich, Joanna Greulich; 8 grandchildren; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters. She was preceded in death by a daughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 1 p.m. in St. Mark Catholic Church with calling at the church beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Church, IU School of Physical Therapy, or Southside Animal Shelter.
Dolores Helen Boyce

Dolores Helen Schroeder Boyce, passed away June 24, 2016, at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, IN. She was born in Indianapolis on February 15, 1926, to Henry John and Josephine Mary Bedel Schroeder. The youngest of 10 children, Dolores was raised on South Talbott Street in Indianapolis and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School. Her mother and father moved to Indianapolis from Ripley County, Indiana, both descending from German-immigrant, 1850s-era farming families.
Dolores met Leslie John Boyce Sr. in 1942 while Leslie was attending radio school at the U.S. Naval Armory in Indianapolis. Les and Dolores married on December 1, 1945. To this marriage were born 10 children. Les and Dolores attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church until the early 1950s, when they moved to St. Mark Parish and spent several decades. In the late 70s they changed residences and joined St. Jude Parish.
During her adult life, Dolores enjoyed attending the athletic events of her children and grandchildren. She coached CYO kickball and softball at Edgewood Little League and in 1980 was awarded the Monsignor Busald award for her contributions. Later she loved to volunteer with St. Francis Senior Promise.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Henry, Adelaide, Matilda, Mary, Anthony, Robert, Paul, Francis; and grandson, J. Ryan Boyce. She is survived by her sister, Emma; and children, Francis Wayne (Brenda), Lawrence Steven (Debbie), Nancy Marie Strange (Larry), Rose Dolores Bartlett (Wayne), Timothy Joseph (Kathy), Carol Anne Cook (Gayle), Leslie John Jr. (Cheryl), Kenneth Michael (Lori), Mary Joan Brown (Ben), Kevin Patrick (Dianna); 22 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2016, 4 p.m to 8 p.m. in Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Jude Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Donald Michael Serensky, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 25, 2016. Don was born on May 1, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA. He served proudly in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959. He was owner-operator of Universal Computer Supplies before retiring in 1998. He had a love of children, nature, hiking, biking, charities and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Brenda Francis Moore Serensky; sons, Victor Serensky (Susan) and Andrew Moore; daughters, Carol Spencer (Brian) and Nancy Serensky (Kat); grandchildren, Michelle Jaquish (Adam), Leah Stacy (Nathan), Kala Serensky, Austin Moore, Brady Spencer and Briana Spencer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. James Michael Mappes, 55, Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He was born in Beech Grove, IN on March 14, 1961 to Bernard Charles and Lois Smith Mappes. James was a graduate of Ball State University and worked as the Physical Education Director at the Indiana Girls' School for 30 years before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his mother; daughters, Carly and Markie Mappes; sisters, Sharon Swhear (John), Debbie Watkins (Steve), Dianne Williams (Chuck); brothers, Mark Mappes (Karen), Nick Mappes (Joyce), Michael Mappes (Cindy); 17 nieces and nephews.
