She died Wednesday evening in Chase Convalescent Center, Logansport. Born in Carroll County, she was the daughter of William and Sarah Timmons Wakeland. A graduate of Burnettsville High School, she was the school's oldest alumni as a member of the class or 1914. On Dec. 18, 1915, in the home of her parents in Adams Twp., Carroll County, she married Fred J. Fisher. He preceded in death July 25, 1989. Margaret and Fred had settled in Burnettsville shortly after their marriage, where they lived in the same farm home for over 65 years. Working together, they farmed and sold produce. She enjoyed gardening outdoors and also caring for her indoor garden of African violets. Her hobbies also included crocheting, tatting and baking. She always kept up on the latest news and enjoyed reading the paper. Recently, when asked what she thought about the events of 9/11, she replied, "I never worry about things I have no control over...that's how I lived so long." She dearly loved her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A longtime member of the Burnettsville Baptist Church, she also loved her church family, her neighbors and friends. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Forrest F. and Beatrice Fisher, Pendleton, and John W. and Mary Elizabeth Fisher, Logansport; five grandchildren and their spouses, Judith and Dick Manship, Philip & Julia Fisher, Bill & Vicki Fisher, Patricia & Dean Stark, and John D. and Dawn Fisher; her great-grandchildren, Mark Fisher, Kelli Kesler, Andrew Fisher, Steven Fisher, Bryan Manship, Anita Manship, Michael Manship, Nicole Stark, Jarrett Stark, Jonathan Fisher, Jacob Fisher, Sarah Fisher and Chase Fisher; her great-great-grandchildren, Stacy, Wesley, Candice & Dallon Fisher, Brittany, Mallory & Brendon Kesler, and Heather & Megan Manship. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Wilber Wakeland; four sisters, Mignon Weiderhaft, Ina Atchieson, Nora Corn and Nellie Wakeland; and one great-grandson, Daniel Fisher. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burnettsville Baptist Church and the Burnettsville Community Building funds in support of the Burnettsville BeeHive building.
Virginia S. Hart

She died at 4:14 p.m. Tuesday in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born in Chicago, she was the daughter of Howard I. and Henrietta W. Warren Shaw. On March 28, 1936, in Chicago, she was married to Charles E. Hart who preceded in death February 21, 1985. In 1972, she retired from the Warren Twp. Schools of Indianapolis where she worked in the cafeteria for many years. She was a member of Logansport's First United Methodist Church. For over 50 years, she belonged to the Cumberland Order of Eastern Star. She was also active in United Methodist Women's activities. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie H. "Marge" & Dave Miller; one son, Walter K. Hart; one sister, Katherine McClellan; five grandchildren, Tammy & Don Bartlett, Andrea & Nate Kaley, Doug Miller, Susan & Dennis Teague and Jeff & Melinda Hart, and seven great-grandchildren. Walter H. Wegner

Hhe died at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, in White Co. Memorial Hospital. He was the son of Walter and Agnes Boyk Wegner. On July 23, 1958, in Illinois, to Ruth E. Oesterriech who died Dec. 1, 1989. He was employed as a crane operator with the National Wrecking Co. for over 40 years before retiring. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour. He had served as commander of Amvets in Monticello. He loved to fish and work on his fishing boat. Surviving are one don and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Darlene Wegner Sr.; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Harry Gardner; one brother, Howard Wegner; one sister, Doris; 11 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Edna I. Sickler Gwin

Pauline Blankenship

She died at 12:00 p.m. Friday in Twin Lakes Village. Born in Austin, Indiana, she was the daughter of Sidney and Ora Stuart Buzzard. On June 1, 1929, in Otterbien, she married Wilbur Abner Blankenship who died April 24, 1981. In 1924, she received her Masters degree from Indiana State University. She worked as primary elementary school teacher in Pine Township, Freeland Park, Kentland and Monticello. She was a member of the Monticello U.M. Church. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, She was past president of the Retired Teachers Association. and had been recipient of "Teacher of the Year." Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Connie "Tater" Blankenship; one sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Joe Foster; two grandchildren, Bernie & Becky Blankenship and Cari Hoaks; and four great-grandchildren, Casey, Jennifer, Jamie and Aaron. Lorene Walton preceded in death.
Pauline M. Hoffman

She died at 10:22 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital. Born in Akron, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Aura Cornwell Hammond. On Sept. 20, 1937, in Akron, she married Claude A. Hoffman, who died Sept. 21, 1990. Mrs. Hoffman retired as a nurse from Ford Hospital in Detroit. A former Logansport resident, she was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Surviving are one brother, Maurice "Jack" Hammond; and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Lafayette, he was the son of William Jesse and Lois Ray Hampton. On Sept. 13, 1991, in Monticello, to Clara Hampton, who survives. He was a self-employed mechanic. He enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Monticello U.M. Church. Also surviving are one son, Daniel Hampton II; one daughter, Rachel Hampton; three step-children, LAura Gee, Benny Loveless Jr., and Brandon Loveless; three brothers, William Hampton & his wife, Bev, Ronald Hampton and his wife Judy, James David Hampton and his wife, Susan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlen and Floyd Combs, Peggy and Jim Honeycutt; and two step-grandchildren. Preceding in death were one brother and one sister. Memorial contributions may be made to Mrs. Hampton in care of Lafayette Bank Trust.
Betty J. Harris

She died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. Born in Idaville, she was the daughter Ira and Ruth Greenbush Stearns. She was married in Monticello to Raymond Harris, who survives. Mrs. Harris was a graduate of Idaville High School. She was employed with Bryans Manufacturing for twelve years. She also worked for seventeen years at RCA. She then worked for seven years at Alcoa before her retirement. She was a member of AMVETS of Monticello. One of her favorite past times was fishing. Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Arlene Harris; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ira "Shorty" Stearns and Mr. and Mrs. Don Stearns; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harris and Mr. and Mrs. Don Sites; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
