James Edward Lebo

He died at 10:14 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born in Logansport, he was the son of Orlando James and Jessie Barbara Kuns Lebo. On March 27, 1948, in Broadway Methodist Church, he was married to Lucille Ferguson, who survives. Mr. Lebo graduated from Logansport High School in 1940. A veteran of WWII, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Aug. 10, 1942 to Nov. 8, 1945. In 1981, he retired from Rockwell International. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge. His hobbies included woodcarving, woodworking, caning and helping his grandsons with woodworking projects. He also enjoyed gardening and farming. He especially enjoyed his grandsons' ball games. His family's "Mr. Fix-it," he enjoyed tinkering in general with everything that needed to be fixed. Surviving with his wife of 54 years are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kent E and Vickie Lebo, Logansport, Mark and Carol Lebo of River Falls, Wisconsin, and Terry Lebo of Walton; one brother, Tom Lebo, Chicago; one sister, Jeanette VanDorn, Venice, Florida; and nine grandchildren.
Donavan Rex Mills

He died at 11:18 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2002, in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 21, 1926, in Greentown, he was the son of Pearl Edward and Vera Pauline Scott Mills. On Sept. 21, 1973, in Biloxi, Tennessee, he was married to Carol Nadine Hughes, who survives. He served in the U.S. Navy from Dec. 1944 to July 1946 during WWII. In 1990, he retired from Wilson's. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War. Also surviving are one son Donavam Rex Mills Jr., Batesville, Arkansas; three daughters, Lois Marie Roland, Delphi, Lula Katherine Forker and Vera Mae Yocum, both of Logansport; one brother, Merrill D. Mills, Brookville, Florida; four sisters, Vivian Y. Berkshire, Royal Center, Helen I. Purcell, Indianapolis, Naomi M. Frogge, Greenville, Texas, and Virginia M. Burrows, Campbell, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon L. Mills; and two sisters, Violet DeFord and Doretha Mundy.
Philmer "Andy" Anderson

He died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, in White County Memorial Hospital. Born in Garrett, Indiana, he was the son of Philmer Lee Sr. and Blanche Viola Hoose Anderson. Andy lived in Monticello since his retirement form the United States Air Force in 1973. He was also retired from White County Memorial Hospital where he was an x-ray technician. He graduated from Garrett High School in Garrett, Indiana on June 4, 1946. In Monticello, he was a member of AM Vets, VFW, American Legion and the Redman's Lodge. He was also a member of the Eagles lodge in Garrett. He had been in failing health for the past five years. Surviving are two sisters, Phyllis Kinder and Marguarite Liss. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Nancy Charlene Flanagan Reed, 42, of Monticello, died Friday, August 16, 2002, in Loveland, Colorado. She was born in Lafayette on October 26, 1959, to William and Carol S. Smith Flanagan. She attended Frontier High School. She was formerly employed by the Monon Corporation, Kroger and Twin Lakes Village nursing home. She was a member of the Eagles and Redman lodges in Monticello. Survivors include her mother, Carol S. Flanagan of Monticello; sons, Jeremy Reed and Robert Jason Reed, both of Wolcott; brother, William D. (Debbie) Flanagan Jr., Indianapolis, Mark A. (Robin) Flanagan of Delphi, Michael E. Flanagan of Covington, William H. Flanagan of Lafayette and William E. Flanagan of Monticello; a sister, Sandra (Tom) Kemple of Lafayette, and three grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded in death.
Margaret Miklik

She died Thursday, August 8, 2002, in St. Vincent Hospital, Carmel. Born August 23, 1917, in Dubuque, Iowa, she was the daughter of Owen and Hazel Trcziyulny Myers. She was married in Steger, Illinois, to Joseph C. Miklik, who preceded in death April 19, 1994. For several years, she owned and operated the Dyer Variety Store. She was also retired from the Gary National Bank. She was the founder of the First Presbyterian Church in Dyer, Indiana. She was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. Margaret was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello, joining on October 5, 1975. At church, she was active in the Presbyterian Women's Association, the Care & Share Ladies Fellowship group and she assisted with church rummage sales and the bazaar. She faithfully attended Sunday School and was enjoyed church fellowship dinners. She was also a member of the American Business Women's Association, Kewanee Chapter. A member of the Dyer Lady Lions, she also belonged to the White County Extension Homemakers Association, the Twin Lakes Senior Citizen Club where she had served as the choral director of the Senior Citizens Chorus. Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, JoLynn and William Powney, Munster, and Marlene Miklik Hall, Merrillville; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Susan Miklik, Three Oaks, Michigan, and Tom and Linda Miklik, Kokomo; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Wilbert Burghardt, Steger, Illinois; one grandson, Michael Miklik; three granddaughters, Kelly Miklik Barker, Kerry Miklik Martin and Katrina Miklik Martin. She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert O. Myers; and three sisters, Edith M. Apel, Velma Ross and Betty Boetteger. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello or the Lions Club Collection Center in Monticello.

She died at 2:56 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2002, in White County Memorial Hospital. Born August 22, 1952, in Swindon, Wiltshire, England, to Robert W. and Dell Englerth Guy, who survive in Monticello. Sandra resided in Monticello since 1967. She was a 1970 graduate of Twin Lakes High School. She had worked for the Marion County Government offices and the Family Services of Lafayette. She managed Guy's Concessions at Indiana Beach for 15 years. Sandy had been in failing health for the past two years and as a result, she spent much of her time trying to stay well. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and taking care of pets. Surviving with her parents are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Constance and Gary Hardin; Kilgore, Texas, Melinda and Ronald Price, Kilgore, Texas, and Laura and Chad Collier, Indianapolis; one brother and sister-in-law, John "Jack" Robert Gray, South Bend; her grandmothers, Lois Nixon and Ann Myers, both of Logansport; her companion, Richard Bowsher; five nephews; and her beloved pets, Nikki and Max. Memorial contributions may be made Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or to Happy Tails of Monticello.

Born in Westburn, Tennessee, she was the daughter of William McMknnley and Lourene Walters Massengill. On March 19, 1953, in Angola, she was married to Bernard Welsh who preceded in death Sept. 21, 1990. She was retired from assembly at Essex Wire. She was a member of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Delphi for 30 years. Surviving are five sons, Douglas E. Welsh, Donald C. Welsh, David W. Welsh, Martin J. Welsh and Mark Burdick; four daughters, Bernice L. Adams, Diana L. Holloway, Debra L. Meyers, and Brenda Burdick; one brother, William E. Massengill; twenty-four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
