She died at 1:11 p.m. in her residence. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she was the daughter of Chester and Jean Molick Olejniczak. Her mother survives. On July 26, 1975, in Delphi, she was married to George J. Roland, who survives. A homemaker, Mrs. Roland was also employed as a secretary. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and she enjoyed camping, crocheting, gardening, playing Bingo, working crossword puzzles, traveling and spending time with her family. Also surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Deb & Mike Roland, Cindy & Brian Coe, and Denise & Mark Anderson; one son, Bret Roland; two step-daughters, Blayne Cooper & her husband Chris, and Betty Roland; her grandchildren, Nova, Michael, Dustin, Derick, Dalton, Eric, Alex, Lindsey, Matthew, Atlee and Brittany; one great-grandson, Damon; and her step-grandchildren, C.J., Christopher, Jennifer, Michelle, Kameron, Kolten, Damon & Desiree. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother and one son.
Gale E. "Bubba" Mann

He died at 1:45 a.m. Sunday in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born in Lafayette, he was the son of Gene and Freida Brown Mann. His mother survives. On Sept. 25, 1998, in Logansport, he was married to Pamela Dillon, who survives. Mr. Mann was a self-employed truck driver. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. Surviving with his wife and mother are two daughters, Holly Snow and her friend Bill conrad, and Angie Tucker and her husband, Matt; one brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Cathy Mann; one sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Rick Leazenby; and four grandchildren, Jacob Clothier, Joshua Snow, Jessica Snow and Jayme Snow. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Emerald Mummert

She died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday in Monticello Healthcare Center. Born in Yeoman, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Graham Metz. On Sept. 21, 1933, she married Charles Mummert who preceded in death Sept. 16, 1977. Mrs. Mummert worked at Thread as a sample maker. She and her husband owned and operated OK Tire & Service Center in Monticello. She was a member of the Yeoman United Methodist Church since 1916, where she enjoyed playing the organ and piano. She also served as choir director for several years. She had also belonged to the Jefferson Township Extension Homemakers Club since 1925. Surviving are one niece, Mary Kilmer, Monticello; two great-nephews, David Diener, Monticello, and Paul Diener, Lafayette; and one great-niece, Doneata Ziemer, Monticello. She was preceded in death by one brother, Carl MEtz; and three sisters, Ruby Diener, Opal Armstrong and Pearl Keever.
Betty J. Harris

She died at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. Born in Idaville, she was the daughter of Ira and Ruth Greenbush Stearns. She was married to Raymond Harris, who survives. Mrs. Harris worked for 12 years with Byran's Manufacturing. She had also worked for 17 years at RCA. She retired from Alcoa after working there for 7 years. She was a graduate of Idaville High School. She was active in Amvets of Monticello. She enjoyed fishing. Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Jack & Arlene Harris; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ira "Shorty" Stearns and Mr. & Mrs. Don Stearns; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Harris and Mr. & Mrs. Don Sites; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mary E. Hall

She died at 3:52 a.m. in her residence. Born in Logansport, she was the daughter of Bertel and Esther Troster Wolfe. On March 10, 1951, in Logansport, she was married to Benjamin (Wayne) Hall, who survives. She worked as a mortgage banker. Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, DeWayne and Lori Hall; three daughters, Linda Glisson, Lynette Hudnell and Mary Smith; two brothers, Bert Wolfe and Robert Wolfe; one sister, Elizabeth Kibble; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Charles W. Low

He died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at his residence. Born in North Vernon, he was the son of Willard N. and Ruth Midlred Phillips Low. He was married to Eva VanMeter Dulin who preceded in death in March 1990. He was a 1942 graduate of Sand Creek H.S. in Westport, Indinaa and a 1956 graduate of the Purdue School of Pharmacy. He worked for Holder Pharmacy in Monticello for 12 years and own Low's Parmacy for 4 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII in the South Pacific and also during the Korean Conflict. A member of the Oak Grove Christian Church, Mr. Low was also a member of the Purdue Alumni Association. He served on the Monticello City Council from 1968-1974. He volunteered at the loca food pantry for several years. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Masonice Lodge, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and the Order of Eastern Star. He was past president of the Monticello Kiwanis Club. Surviving are and adopted daughter, Mary Wepfer; one step-daughter, Sandra Schroeder; one stepson, Michael E. Dulin; ne sister, Gladys Davis; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Lena L. Miller

She died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday in LaPorte General Hospital. Born in Harrison Township, Cass County, she was the daughter of Charles B. and Gladys M. Million Elliott. On Oct. 9, 1927, in Cass County, she was married to Harry E. Miller, a Pennsylvania Railroad engineer. Hepreceded in death Sept. 4, 1975. Lena attended Logansport High School. She had been a member of the former Market Street United Methodist Church and the Zion United Methodist Church in Lucerne. For the past ten years, Lena lived in LaPorte. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Merrill E. and Jeanie Miller, and James E. and Sharon Miller; four grandchildren, Scott Miller, Judy Mannia, James E. Miller, J. Matthew Miller; nine great-grandchildren, Brynn Hines, Brayde Hines, Katie Mannia, Jordan Miller, Logan Miller, Madeline Miller, Maxwell Miller, Olivia Miller,and Jake Miller. He died Sunday, July 28, 2002, in White County Memorial Hosptial emergency room. Born in Cissna Park, Illinois, he was the son of John F. and Rose Alt Burke. On Jan. 19, 1948, in Reynolds, he married Zelda O'Farrell, who survives. A farmer, he was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church. He was a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau Co-op where he served on the board of directors. He also served on the board of directors of the Carroll County Pork Producers. He enjoyed reading, fishing and being with his grandchildren. Surviving with his wife of 54 years are two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim & Julie Burke, Monticello, and Chris and Debra Burke, Burnettsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa & Jim Burke Hemming, Monticello, and Cecelia and Gary Burke Weiss, Indianapolis; and nine grandchildren.
