He died at 4 p.m. Friday in his residence, 236 South 225 West, Reynolds. Born Jan. 10, 1945, in Lafayette, he was the son of Clarence and Loretta Vogel Bossung. His mother survives in Reynolds. On April 27, 1968, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, he was married to Pamela McClean, who survives. Mr. Bossung was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was retired from the sales division of Morman's Manufacturing. He enjoyed gardening and operating his corn stand in Reynolds. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds. Surviving with his wife and mother are two sons, Jeffrey Bossung, Monticello, and Adam Bossung, at home; two daughters and one son-in-law, Heather and Tim Kiesling, San Antonio, Texas, and Jennifer Bossung, at home; one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Jan Bossung, South Bend; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Emajean and Roger Romer, Findlay, Ohio, and Mary Ann and Jack Lacy, Noblesville. His father preceded in death. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Duane J. Conklin, 62, Peru, died at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2003, in his residence. Born in Logansport, he was the son of Clarence Jay and Agnes Eurora Grandstaff Conklin. On November 22, 1975, in Peru, he was married to Kay W. Smith, who survives. In 1996, he retired from Chrysler where he had worked as a valve body worker for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren. Surviving with his wife are three sons, Michael Duane Conklin & his wife, Kim, US Air Force Base, South Dakota, Craig Emery and his wife, Tina, Peru, and Christopher Nethercutt, Peru; two daughters, Christina Abney and her husband, John, Kokomo, and Wanda Torrence, Peru; his grandchildren, Crystal Torrence, Peru, Amy Torrence, Peru, John Michael Conklin, South Dakota, Dalton Conklin, South Dakota, Kaylee Conklin, South Dakota, Kyle Emery, Peru, Kelsey Emery, Peru, Crystal Williams, Peru, and Kirsten Williams, Peru; and two brothers, Donald D. Conklin, South Yarmin, Massachusetts and Harold Gene Conklin, Logansport. One daughter, Tonya Conklin, preceded in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Betty May Kitchel, 82, Logansport, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born June 2, 1921, in Saginaw, Michigan, she was the daughter of Roy and May Baker Nulf. On August 26, 1939, she was married to Samuel M. Kitchel, who survives. A homemaker, Betty was retired from the Logansport Community School Corporation where she had worked as a secretary at Daniel Webster Elementary School. She had also worked as an instructional assistant. She enjoyed playing golf, reading and traveling, but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Gideons Auxiliary. Surviving with her husband are eight children: Bonnie Miller, Pleasant Hill, Ohio, Larry Kitchel and his wife, Conna, Logansport; C. Jay Kitchel and his wife, Sara, Logansport, Steve Kitchel and his wife, Betty, Logansport, Penny Bannon and her husband, Robert, Logansport, Nancy Scagnoli and her husband, Steve, Logansport, Randy Kitchel and his wife, Julie, Spring Lake, Michigan, and Michael Kitchel and his wife, Audrey, Lafayette; one sister, Mary L. Smith, Logansport; thirty-five grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and one sister preceded in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Mrs. Papworth and her husband owned and operated Countree-Aire Resort on Lake Shafer for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, and past Matron of the Star in 1965. She was a member of the White County Hospital Aux. and the Moose Lodge in Monticello. She was a member of the Damascus Shrine in Chicago. She had lived in Monticello since 1974, coming from Oak Lawn, Illinois. Survivors include: Daughters: Patricia Schwer of Geneva, Il and Linda Jones of Lebanon, In. One Sister, Eleanor Bournique of Tinley Park, IL. 4 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Eleanor (Clark) Charles, Brother: Wesley Charles, Sisters: Eve Costigan, Evelyn Stasiof, Ruth Alberda, and Ione Cleary.

Donald P. Moyer Jr., 71, resident of Winamac
WINAMAC - Donald P. Moyer Jr., 71, of Winamac died at 10:37 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. He was born at Chicago on Jan. 13, 1932, to Donald P. Sr. and Dorothy Ida Rosenquist Moyer. He married Nancy E. Dilling at Monticello on Nov. 15, 1984. She survives. He was a 1952 graduate of Medaryville High school. He served in the Army and Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired truck driver. He liked electronics and building computers. Other survivors include daughters, Jenny Nice of Moreno Valley, Calif., Amy (Bill) Biggs of Valparaiso, Tammy (Stanley) Jones of New Market, Tenn., Donna Moyer of LaPorte, Patricia (Bill) Marvin of Battle Ground and Rosie (Bruce) Gunther and Kathy Dilling, both of Monticello; a son, Paul (Angie) Dilling of Chalmers; a sister, Barbara Ann Moyer of LaPorte; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A brother, Edward Allen Moyer, is deceased. No visitation is scheduled. Graveside services, with military rites, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at White Post Cemetery, Medaryville. Rosemary Walter, 79, Regency Place, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 1924, in her residence. She was born February 14, 1924, in Catlin, Indiana. She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School in Parke County. Mrs. Walter had resided in Lafayette for over 45 years. In 2000, she retired from Jeff High School where she had worked as the cafeteria manager for over 30 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed golfing and bowling at the women's twilight league at the Elks. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. And she was an excellent cook. She was also an avid Purdue fan and Chicago Cubs fan. On March 21, 1946, in Catlin, Indiana, she was married to Bobbie Dean Walter, who preceded in death June 2, 1987. Surviving are two daughters, Kimberley Heathcote (husband David) of Lafayette, and Roberta Patton (husband D.J. Don) of West Lafayette; and five granddaughters, Kristy L. Koehler, Elyse Kessler, Danielle Patton, Kasey Patton, and Adrianna Heathcote; and one grandson, Kyle Kessler. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Kris Walter; one brother and one sister. Memorial contributions may be made to teh American Cancer Society.

Glenn C. Safford, 88, 536 S. Main St., died at 9:47 p.m., on Aug. 13, 2003, at White County Memorial Hospital. He was born on Dec. 12, 1914, in Roberts, Ill., to Grover and Bulah McKinney Safford. He married Ruth A. Aydelotte on April 12, 1936, in Brookston. She survives. He was a graduate of Wolcott High School. He was a retired board chairman of Kirby Risk Supply, and served in an advisory capacity to the board until his death. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello. He was a member of the board of governors for the NAED, a life member of the chamber of commerce and was active in the United Way and Junior Achievement. Other survivors include a son, Ed G. (Delores) Safford of Effingham, Ill.; a brother, Virgil (Jan) Safford of Lafayette; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Cecil Safford, Estel Safford, Vernon Safford, and Lloyd Safford; a sister, Helen Holcomb. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., on Saturday, August 16, 2003, at the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello. Services will be at 1 p.m., on Saturday, August 16, 2003, at the church, with Rev. Bruce Hurley officiating. Entombment will be private and will take place at the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Federated Church of Brookston or the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello. Arrangements are by Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello.

Jerry Lewis Sexton, 45, West Lafayette, died at 11:56 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2003, in his residence. Born Feb. 10, 1958, in Jonesville, Virginia, he was the son of Clyde L. Sexton and Jackie Sexton Austin. Mr. Sexton was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked as a bartender. On July 11, 1996, in Lafayette, he was married to Janice "Susie" Shonkwiler, who survives. Also surviving are his mother and stepfather, Jackie and James Austin, Otterbein; one son, Jerry E. "Buddy" Sexton, Berea, Kentucky; three daughters, Sara Jo Sexton, Lexington, Kentucky, Shiela Sexton, Berea, Kentucky, and Jeri Marie Sexton, Lafayette; one stepson, Jamie Liles, Lafayette; one stepdaughter, Tonya Hatmaker, Caryville, Tennessee; three sisters, Cathy Bridges, West Lafayette, Patricia Rowland, Brookston, and Jackie Watson, Stearns, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
