CORNWALL, England -- Tommy Ashcroft, 68, of Truro, Cornwall, England, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Dorset, England. Rites are pending.
He is the brother of Logansport City Council member Mary Cotner.
Richard D. Irven
WINAMAC -- Richard D. Irven, 70, of 1315 Ewing Road, Rochester, formerly of Winamac, died at 7:20 a.m. Monday in Bellaire, Texas.
Arrangements are pending at Frain Mortuary.
Ernest R. Dillman
WINAMAC -- Ernest R. Dillman, 93, of 614 S. Franklin St., died at 5:42 p.m. Monday at his residence.
Arrangements are pending at Frain Mortuary.
Timothy R. Swank
Services for Timothy R. Swank, 32, of 400 North St., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.
He died at 6:05 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1967, in Atlanta, Ga., he was the son of Douglas Michael Swank Sr. and Jane Ketcham Dingman.
Tim worked at Woodlawn Center and enjoyed bowling and playing basketball for the Center. He also enjoyed playing video games.
Surviving are his mother, Jane Dingman, Logansport; a brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Rosemary Swank, Logansport; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Daniel Leazenby, Logansport; maternal grandfather, Earl A. Ketcham, Ohio; one niece and one nephew and several aunts and uncles.
His stepfather, P. Warren Dingman, and maternal grandmother, Margaret Ketcham, preceded in death.
The Rev. Scott Ellison will officiate the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour before the services Wednesday in the cemetery chapel.
Fisher Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn C. Hiatt
Services for Marilyn C. Hiatt, 65, of Logansport, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hiatt died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born March 5,1934, in Cass County, she was the daughter of George W. and Mary Ann Benedict. On May 5,1970, she was married in Logansport to Charles W. Hiatt, who survives.
Mrs. Hiatt had been employed at RBM Manufacturing. She also had been the manager of the former Harvest House Restaurant at the Logansport Mall for 10 years.
Also surviving are one son, Dennis Benedict, Mesa, Ariz; two stepsons, Charles Hiatt Jr., Albion, Mich., and John Hiatt, Logansport; three stepdaughters, Gerri Erbaugh, Brookston, Joni Eatmon, Logansport; and Sarah Barton, Collierville, Tenn.; one brother, Richard Benedict, Idaho; two sisters, Marcella Grable, Twelve Mile, and Judy Costello, Kalamazoo, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Two grandchildren, two brothers and one sister preceded in death.
Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Pauline M. Witkowski
WINAMAC -- Services for former Pulaski County resident Pauline M. Witkowski, 85, Corpus Christi, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Frain Mortuary.
She died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in the home of her daughter in Corpus Christi.
The Rev. John Hoying will officiate at the services. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday in the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Children’s Library.
William E. Stewart
WINAMAC -- Services for William E. Stewart, 70, of 83325S 475W, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Frain Mortuary.
He died at 2:50 a.m. Friday, April 2, 1999, in St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart.
The Rev. William Mathys will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Pro Cemetery, Pulaski.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday in the mortuary.
Mary A. Johnson
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Graveside services for former Logansport resident Mary A. Johnson, 90, of 316 Rusty Road, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Magnolia Park Mausoleum in Warner Robins.
She died Thursday, April 1, 1999, in Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.
Father Michael Labinsky will officiate at the services.
McCullough Funeral Home, Warner Robins, is in charge of arrangements.
Bessie I. Wilson
Bessie I. Wilson, 92, formerly of 2626 George St., died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday in Chase Center.
Rites are pending at McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
Ernest Franklin Sprinkle
GALVESTON -- Services for Ernest Franklin Sprinkle, 80, of 9479S 700E, Walton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Murray Funeral Home, Galveston Chapel.
He died at 12:06 p.m. Friday, April 2, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 24, 1919, in Cass County, he was the son of Frank and Cora Sprinkle. On July 20, 1974, in Walton, he was married to Elizabeth Dilts, who survives.
Mr. Sprinkle retired in 1977 from farming. He loved woodworking and fishing.
He was a member of Loree Brethren Church in Bunker Hill.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Penny Harris, Royal Center, and Edith King, Washington, Ill.; two stepsons, Paul Dilts, Plymouth, and Edward Dilts, Franklin; two adopted sons, Steven Sprinkle and Leon Sprinkle, both of Walton; one sister, Eloise LeMaster, Bunker Hill; one brother, Elbert Sprinkle, Peru; 12 stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One daughter and one brother preceded in death.
The Rev. Gene Oburn will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Loree Brethren Church Building Fund.
William ‘Art’ Smith
KEWANNA -- Services for William "Art" Smith, 50, of Kewanna, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Ann Catholic Church.
Mr. Smith died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 1999, at his residence.
Born May 6, 1948, in Chicago, he was the son of William C. and Margie Dreux Smith. On March 27, 1971, he was married in Chicago to Mary Ann Josetti, who survives.
Formerly of Chicago, Mr. Smith had been a U.S. Mail Carrier for the Irving Park Branch in Chicago.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2978.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he had served from 1969 to 1970 in the Vietnam War, working as a chef and in transportation.
He was a graduate of Lakeview High School, Chicago.
Also surviving are his mother, Margie Smith, Chicago; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Janine Smith, Kewanna; one daughter, Amy Marie Smith, Chicago; one brother, Joseph Smith, Lindenhurst, Ill.; one sister, Cindy Ward, Chicago; one granddaughter, Taylor Marie Smith; one grandson, Michael Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
One son, his father and father-in-law preceded in death.
Father Alan Cox will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be in IOOF Cemetery, Rochester.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel, where there will be a scripture service at 7 p.m. Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pulaski County Hospice.

Ernest R. Dillman
WINAMAC -- Services for Ernest R. Dillman, 93, of 614 S. Franklin St., will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Frain Mortuary.
He died at 5:42 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2000, in his residence.
Born Oct. 20, 1906, in Urbana, Ill., he was the son of Daniel and Belle Kirby Dillman. On May 17, 1934, in Danville, Ill., he was married to Gertrude E. Luttrell, who died Dec. 4, 1993.
Mr. Dillman had lived in Winamac since 1955, moving here from Logansport.
He was a retired farmer, dairyman and milk hauler for 50 years, hauling milk to Dean’s Foods.
A member of First United Methodist Church in Winamac, Mr. Dillman enjoyed fishing, woodworking and being with his family, and remained active throughout his 93 years.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bill Goble, Winamac; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Patsy Dillman, Monon; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Marsha Gates, three sisters and three brothers, two grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren preceded in death.
William Mathys will officiate the services. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens, Winamac.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday in the mortuary.

Tyler Austin Melton
Services for Tyler Austin Melton, 1, of 115 Seventh St., will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
He died at 9:24 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2000, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 15, 1998, in Logansport, he was the son of Jonathan and Rebekah Steele Melton, both of whom survive.
Also surviving are two brothers, Jonathan J. Melton III and Matthew Lee Melton, both of Logansport; maternal grandparents, Ricky Ray Steele, Logansport, and Casper and Emma Been, Logansport; maternal great-grandparents, David and Pearl Maxwell, Portland; paternal grandfather, Raul Madrigal, Walton; and several aunts and uncles.
His paternal grandmother, Nita Madrigal, preceded in death.
Friends may call one hour before the time of services Thursday in the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Edna Mae Gano
PERU -- Services for Edna Mae Gano, 84, of 686 VanBuren Ave., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
She died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in her residence.
Pastors Philip Krupski and Robert Koch will officiate the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where a Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority service will be held at 8 p.m.

Dorothy E. Hedde, 93, formerly of Logansport, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Lola L. Israel James
FLORA -- Services for Lola L. Israel James, 99, of 103 N. Division St., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Reinke Funeral Home.
She died at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in St. Elizabeth Heathcare Center, Delphi.
The Rev. Alvin Grumbling will officiate the services. Burial will be in Delphi Masonic Cemetery.

Francis Louise Buzbee
Services for Francis Louise Buzbee, 82, of 411 W. Linden Ave., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.
Mrs. Buzbee died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Delphi.
Born Aug. 9, 1916, in Sheldon, Ill., she was the daughter of Floyd Franklin and Elizabeth Hanks Boldry. On Nov. 16, 1935, in Peru, she was married to Melvin Lowell Buzbee, who died Jan. 25, 1988.
Mrs. Buzbee was retired from H. W. Gossard Company.
She was a member of Skinner Chapel Church and the Golden Agers.
Surviving are one son, Billy B. Buzbee and his wife Louisa, Logansport; one daughter, Melba Samuels, West Lafayette; eight grandchildren, David Buzbee and his wife, B. J., Lebanon, Ohio, Joe Buzbee and his wife, Sheryl, and Janet Ellison and her husband, Dennis, all of Logansport, Kathy Bushaw and her husband, Russell, Lucerne, Steve Samuels and his wife, Jan, Frankfort, Curtis Samuels and his wife, Jean, Morehead, Ky., Greg Samuels, Monticello, and Mark Samuels, Lafayette; and 25 great-grandchildren.
One brother preceded in death.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
