Betty Viola Viney
WEST LAFAYETTE - Services for Betty Viola Viney, 84, West Lafayette, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Soller-Baker Funeral Home, West Lafayette Chapel.
She died at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, in Monticello.
Born June 22, 1923, she grew up in Idaville and lived most of her life in the Lafayette area.
She married Charles “Tom” Viney on Dec. 9, 1939, in Indianapolis, who preceded in death on Feb. 5, 1998.
Mrs. Viney was a bookkeeper for Quality Beers for 27 years, retiring in 1984. She also was employed at Lafayette Beverage.
She was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church and the Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cruises and was an avid golfer and bridge player.
Surviving are two daughters, Tari Pasquale and husband, Tom, Monticello, and Peggy Schurr and husband, Jerry, South Bend; grandchildren, David Pasquale of Bangor, Maine, Chris Tillotson and wife, Allison; and three great-grandchildren of Holly, Mich., Jennie Mann and husband, Elliot, Charlotte, N.C., Courtney Tillotson, Washington, D.C., and Jon Schurr and wife, Heather, Madison, Ala.
Robert Humphrey will officiate. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Sheila A. Cody
Memorial services for Sheila A. Cody (Alessandra Scilla Pogessi Cinquini Cody), 79, Logansport, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in Kroeger Funeral Home.
She died at 11:07 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, in Miller’s Merry Manor.
Born July 17, 1928, in Rome, Italy, she was the daughter of Alberto and Teresa Pogessi Cinquini. She was married April 21, 1950, in Watseka, Ill., to John Robert Cody, who preceded in death May 6, 2002.
Sheila was the youngest of seven children. Her father was a movie director and directed the first “Ben Hur” movie in Africa and worked with actors such as Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor.
Sheila’s mom was a professional dancer, and Sheila began her dancing career at 3 years old performing in the opera “Aida” at the Opera House in Rome.
In 1937, she danced for Mussolini at the Piazza Victor Emmanuel.
In 1940, the Germans entered Italy and often attended the opera where Sheila danced. They were insistent many of the young dancers, including Sheila, go to Germany to entertain troops. Her mother felt she was too young. Those who went were not heard from again.
Sheila was in Naples to dance in “Rigaletto” and met her first husband, Lance Menk, who was from Idaville. They were married in Rome on Jan. 11, 1945, and came to America, but the marriage ended after a couple of years.
She moved to Logansport and met her husband of over 50 years, John Robert “Bob” Cody.
Sheila enjoyed working and held various jobs during her life at companies such as Olson’s Department Store, the Gossard, Paul Harris, Gallery Furniture, Bailey’s and most recently as a matron at the Cass County Jail.
Sheila loved to give back to the community. She taught dance for more than 20 years at the YMCA, worked for the Civic Players for over 30 years as a choreographer, stage manager and sewing costumes. She even was Santa’s helper at the Logansport Mall.
She was the recipient of various awards such as the Community Achievement award from the Logansport Business and Professional Women’s Club.
She taught fitness classes at the Logansport Mall. She also taught Italian language classes in her home.
She attended All Saints Catholic Church and was a member of William Paca Lodge, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790 auxiliary.
The family will miss her immensely.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde A. and Elizabeth Cody, Boise, Idaho, and Brian A. and Debra Cody, Houston, Texas; one stepdaughter, Karlalea Cody and her husband, Steve Wagman, Indianapolis; one sister, Renata Botta, Rome, Italy; three grandsons, Justin Cody, Eric Cody and Logan Cody, all of Houston, Texas; one stepgranddaughter, Brianne Teaboldt, Baltimore, Md.; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in Italy.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded in death.
Father Jeff Martin will officiate. Burial will be private.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, where a VFW Auxiliary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. and a William Paca Lodge service will be held at 6:20 p.m.

The family wishes to thank Miller’s Merry Manor and their dedicated and caring staff who went the extra mile to ensure that her last days were as comfortable as possible.
Kim A. Trexler
PERU - Graveside services for Kim A. Trexler, 51, Peru, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.
He died at 12:04 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, in Dukes Memorial Hospital.
Michael Trexler will officiate at the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mary Gene Groves
ROCHESTER - Services for Mary Gene Groves, 84, Logansport, will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home in Rochester.
She died at 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, in her residence.
Born Dec. 19, 1922, in Fulton County, she was the daughter of Dorwin Dwight and Edith Clevenger Heeter. On July 10, 1947, in Kankakee, Ill., she was married to Rex Groves, who preceded in death in 1963.
Mrs. Groves had been a waitress and hostess at Ambers Restaurant, Logansport, for many years.
She was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries and enjoyed crocheting, canning, cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Doug Groves, Logansport; daughter, Deana Holbrook, Pierceton; three grandchildren including Nela and husband, Matthew Miller, Rochester; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two infant sons; parents; brothers, Bud Heeter, Alan Heeter and Charles Heeter; and sisters, Margery Ellis, Lenora Sayger, Lucy Lane and Joan Atkinson.
Burial will be at a later date at Athens Cemetery, Athens.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Mary Gene Groves Memorial Fund.
Jeff Bechdol
Memorial services for Jeff Bechdol, 42, Santa Barbara, Calif., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Metea Baptist Church.
He died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007.
Surviving are his father, Ben Bechdol, and stepmother, Sally Bechdol, Logansport.
E. Aron Ousley
KEWANNA - Services for E. Aron Ousley, 71, of Kewanna, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna chapel.
He died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, in his residence.
Born July 6, 1934, in Maytown, Ky., he was the son of Hiram and Inez Adkins Ousley. He was married May 15, 1954, in Fulton, to Lula James, who survives.
A 1952 graduate of Fulton High School, Mr. Ousley was a retired electrical maintenance employee at McGill in Monticello, working for 20 years.
He attended Kewanna United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed yard work, woodworking and his dog, Cody.
Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda Whiteman, Lafayette, and Diane Miller and her husband, Tom, Monticello; one sister, Bonnie Poe, Onalaska, Texas; three brothers, Norm Ousley, PawPaw, Mich., Ralph Ousley, Raphene, Va., and Tom Ousley, Atlanta, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Nancy Ousley, Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
One son, Gary, preceded in death this year. One brother, Gene, one sister, Betty, and his parents, also preceded in death.
Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery, Fulton.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
Todd A. Atkins
Todd A. Atkins, 45, Lafayette, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, in his residence.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Hippensteel Tribute Center, 2529 Schuyler Ave., Lafayette.

Mark W. Shaver
Services for Mark W. Shaver, 39, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 11:03 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 7, 1968, in Logansport, he was the son of Donald Eugene Shaver and Vivian Felz.
Mark was employed at Martin’s Supermarket in Logansport.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Thespian Group 1577. Mark was a sports fan and especially enjoyed NASCAR.
Surviving are parents, Donald E. and Vivian Shaver, Logansport; brothers, Patrick Shaver, Logansport; David Lee Shaver and wife, Teresa, Monticello; Michael Shaver and wife, Vanessa, Logansport; James Shaver and wife, Tracy Deerfield, Wisc.; aunts, Betty Davidson and husband, Dale, Logansport; Phyllis Marshall and husband, Phillip, Beaver Creek, Ohio; Betty Jo Koetters, Idaho; Marlene Burdine, Calif.; uncles, Amos Lee Burdine, Idaho; Earl Eurdine and wife Delta, Clarks Hill; Ron Brose and wife, Barb, Lafayette; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Rev. Bill Shannon and Rev. Jeff Ropp will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

David Lee Morton
INDIANAPOLIS - Graveside services for the extended family of David Lee Morton, 66, Naples, Fla., formerly of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. A memorial service will be held at St. Monica’s Episcopal Church in Naples, Fla. at a later date.
He died at 11:09 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, in Naples Community Hospital Downtown in Naples, Fla. He had been a Naples, Fla., resident since 1985.
Born June 3, 1941, in Logansport, he was the son of Paul L. and Mary Anna Barr Morton. He was a 1959 graduate of Logansport High School, a 1963 graduate of Harvard University, and a 1966 graduate of Indiana University Law School, Bloomington.
Mr. Morton had retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Major serving in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He served in the Vietnam War, stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam and additionally was stationed overseas in Thailand and West Germany. He was a Bronze Star recipient for meritorious service. He had been in private practice as an attorney for several years and remained a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
Surviving include his brothers, Stephen and wife, Susan Morton, Cottonwood, Minn.; Douglas and wife, Lois Morton, Rochester; sister, Kathleen Winters, Fairfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Arrangements are being made by Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester.
Verna Williams
Services for Verna Williams, 89, Huntington, formerly of Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Marocco Funeral Chapel.
She died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, in Hickory Creek Healthcare Center in Huntington.
She was born June 13, 1918.
Surviving includes two sisters, Grace Russell and Alice Graces, both of Columbus.
Pastor Buddy Holder will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday in the funeral home.
Howard E. Meyer
ROCHESTER - Services for Howard E. Meyer, 82, Rochester, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Good Family Funeral Home.
He died at 4:07 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, in Life Care Center of Rochester.
Rev. Don Meyer will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to services Tuesday in the funeral home.

Olive E. ‘Sally’ White
MEDARYVILLE - Services for Olive E. “Sally” White, 88, Medaryville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Medaryville United Methodist Church.
She died at 9:44 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.
Pastors Susan Jennys and William McNabney will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the White Post Cemetery, Medaryville. The American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Frain Mortuary, Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville and one hour before services Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Medaryville United Methodist Church and to the Pulaski County Public Library Medaryville Branch.
