Kathleen N. "Buster" Charlton, 79, of 1215 S. Second St., died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, in her home. She had been in failing health the past two years. Born in Glen Fork, Ky., on March 5, 1924, she had resided in Lafayette the past 15 years. She lived in Oxford for a number of years, and in Indianapolis from 1952-82. She married Clarence Wilbur Charlton in April 1981 in Oxford. He survives. Mrs. Charlton was an licensed practical nurse and had worked in various hospitals in Indianapolis, Texas and Michigan. She formerly owned the Charlton Upholstery Shop in Oxford. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Attica. Surviving with his husband are three daughters, Carolyn Sue Bock (husband Robert E.) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Anne Burton-Fornwalt (husband: Robert E. Sr.) of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Nancy Burton of Indianapolis; two sons, Larry G. Burton of Belleville, Mich. and Gary Burton (wife: Darlene) of Woodbury, Tenn.; and two brothers, Harold Wooldridge (wife: Jo) of Indianapolis and Bradly Wooldridge of Simi Valley, Calif. Twelve grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.

Services for Dorothy W. Curry, 88, of Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel. She died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Kokomo. Born Nov. 23, 1914, in Hartford City, she was the daughter of Fred P. and Mildred Arlene Chapman Worthen. She was married Dec. 18, 1938, to Everett C. Ramey, who died in December 1972. On May 26, 1979, she was married to Elmer D. Curry, who died July 9, 2001. A homemaker, Mrs. Curry was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are two sons, Charles E. Ramey and his wife, Martha, Oak Park, Ill., and Walter W. Ramey and his wife, Laurie, Rochester, N.Y.; one brother, David Worthen, Huntington; two sisters, Frances Worthen, Wabash, and Virginia Hoover, Logansport; six grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; one stepson, Larry E. Curry and his wife, Nancy, Logansport; four stepdaughters, Betty Chambers and Norma Harrison and her husband, Jim, all of Daytona Beach, Fla., Mary Sylvester and her husband, Jim, Logansport, and Beverly Weaver and her husband, Bill, Royal Center; one stepdaughter-in-law, Lucy Curry, Huntington Beach, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. One sister, one stepson, one stepson-in-law and three step-grandchildren preceded in death. The Rev. Chip Gast will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliaries.

Margaret Cook Cave, 88, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, in Regency Place. She had been a patient there the past 18 months and in failing health the past five years. She formerly lived at 104 S. 14th St. Born Feb. 19, 1915, in Lafayette, she was a lifelong Lafayette resident. Her first marriage was to Hugh Conger in 1937. He died in 1970. She married Chester Cave in Lafayette in 1974, and he survives. Mrs. Cave had retired as a cook from Purdue University in 1976. She also had worked at various other Lafayette-area restaurants. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Lafayette and was a former member of the Women of the Moose. Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Sara J. Eisenhut (husband: Earl) of Lafayette; and two sons, Richard Conger (wife: Donna) of Lafayette and Roy Abrams of West Lafayette. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 1 sister.

Leoda Osborn, 76, Logansport, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born in Logansport on Feb. 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Hobart Lee and Flrida Haven Harlan Piercy. On Nov. 4, 1945, in Logansport, she was married to Ernest Osborn. Rev. Vance officiated at their wedding ceremony. Leoda was a member of the Pisgah Christian Church. She was retired from Federal Mogul and had also worked at RBM, H.W. Gossard, and TM Morris Mfg. Surviving with her husband are one son, Patrick Osborn and his wife, Marilyn, Logansport; one daughter, Carol Felker and her husband, Robert, Lake Cicott; two brothers, Marvin Piercy, Monticello, and Boyd Piercy, Kokomo; two sisters, Wanda Alberta Hoch, Logansport, and Jean Feller and her husband, Roscoe, Alamo, Texas; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, one son and one daughter. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Ferdinand graduated from Mointor High School. She was a homemaker, and also assisted her husband as a bookkeeper for their business. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds. She was a member of the American Legion Aux., Women of the Moose, and former Member of the Honey Creek Extension Homemakers Club. She enjoyed spending time at the USA Restaurant Coffee Club in Reynolds. Memorial Donations may be made to the Reynolds First Response.

Norman L. Hileman, 69, Logansport, died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2003, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Logansport on May 3, 1934, he was the son of David B. and Bessie Marie Downham Hileman. On August 10, 1955, in Maryland, he was married to Betty A. Hallman, who preceded in death May 12, 2002. Mr. Hileman was retired from Pinkerton Security where he had worked as a security officer. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. A member of the Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church, Mr. Hileman also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign War Post 3790. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Rodney McGuire, Logansport, Sherry & John Scott Peterson, Fairmont, and Dawn & Brent Davis, Kokomo; nine grandchildren, Broc Cook, Shea Cook, Brittany McGuire, Justin McGuire, Brian Eastham, Janelle Peterson, Jennifer Peterson, Jeremy Peterson, Brittany Davis; two sisters, Betty L. Hileman, Logansport and Edith Hooper & her husband Harold of Mishawaka; one sister-in-law, Martha Hileman, Logansport; and four nieces, Sandra Berkshire, Royal Center, Sally Woodke, Walton, Diane "Dee" Hileman, Logansport, and Brenda Meribela, Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Landon Mitchell; one sister, Lillian Oaks, one brother, David Hileman; and two nephews, Calvin Oaks and Larry Hileman.

Mr. Fisher graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1940. He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Notre Dame in 1949. He married Patricia Swadener on Aug. 14, 1948 in Mishawaka. She survives. Mr.Fisher was the owner and operator of Monticello Lumber Co., retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, where he served on the building committee, an usher, and a president of the parish council for two years. He was a member of the Men's Holy Name, and the Knights of Columbus. He was a treasurer for the Boy Scouts club, and past president of the Junior Chamber Commerce, and on the building committee for Fosselman Hall. He also served as a board member of the White County Historical Society. Prior to his retirement, he was a member of Chamber of Commerce, Lumber Men's Organization, and Indiana Contractors and Builders of White County. With Don Rossiter, he helped develop the White County Municipal Airport. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Morris of Monticello, Cynthia A. Coble (Richard) or Monticello: And Seven Sons, Phillip H. Fisher of Atlanta,GA, Jon W. Fisher of Nevada City, CA, Kenneth L.Fisher of Loukland, OH, F.Edward Fisher(Janice) of Chalmers, Thomas D. Fisher of Monticello, James J. Fisher (Catherine) of Buffalo, Stephen B. Fisher of Monticello: a brother, Charles S. Fisher of Lafayette.
Atwood Eugene "Gene" Campbell

Atwood Eugene "Gene" Campbell, 82, Logansport, died at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, in his residence. Born in Cass County on January 2, 1921, he was the son of Ross L. and Pina Spencer Campbell. On Jan. 21, 1944, in Remington, he was married to Dorothy M. Arnold, who survives. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. From 1964-1986, he owned and operated Peerless Cleaners. He was a member of the Crooked Creek Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 60, the Eagles Aerie No. 323, the Elks Lodge #66, and the Indiana University Varsity Club. He loved to travel, play cards and was an avid IU Sports fan. Surviving with his wife of 59 years are one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Carol Campbell, Indianapolis; three grandsons, Christopher S. Campbell and his wife, Julie, Carmel, Matthew B. Campbell and his wife, Erin, Indianapolis, and Elliot R. Campbell, Indianapolis; and one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Mary Ellen Campbell, Royal Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
