Mrs. Kingsley was a homemaker. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness. She worked for Herf Jones in Indianapolis shortly before her marriage to George in 1943 and also for a short time after her marriage. She loved animals and had a great compassion for them. Survivors include: Son, George A. Kingsley, Jr.;Daughters; Deb Carlson and Sue Hitz. Her dog Heather, and Cat Midnight. Sister Betty Sauer. 9 Grandchildren, and 9 Great Grandchildren.
Albert J. "Bud" Altman

Mr. Altman was a life long farmer in White County, raising pure bred hogs. He was a 42 year member of the Eagles Aerie 2570, where he served in all offices on the local level. He received his 40 year pin. He was also a member of the REDMAN Lodge. He was a member of the White County 4-H Swine Committee for a number of years, and also helped with the construction of the Fairground Buildings. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include: Wife, Addie Altman; Son, Jerry Altman; 4 Daughters, Donna Reed, Cindy Custer, Beth Ann Miller and Linda Yawn. 4 Granddaughters, 3 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in Death by One Brother and 3 Sisters.
William "Bill" Altherr

Mr. Altherr graduated from Purdue University in 1948 receiving his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Altherr was a member of the Brown Street United Methodist Church in Lafayette. He was a member of the American Legion in Monticello. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. Mr. Altherr lived in the Monticello Community since 1950 coming from Lafayette. He had worked in Pennsylvania and Chicago. He was a White County surveyor for 10 years. He also worked for the White County Highway Department as an engineer for 21 years retiring in 1986. He was the White County Republican Chairman for a number of years. Memorials may be made to the Red Cross. Survivors include: Uncle, Gilbert Altherr; Special Friends, Bob(Marian) Hodson; Niece, Beth Hodson; Nephew, Bruce Hodson and several cousins. Preceded in Death by: Parents, Alfred and Edna Altherr; One brother, Gordan A. Altherr, and Nephew Mark Hodson.
Marjorie M. Watkins

Mrs. Watkins was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lafayette. She was an associate Life Member of Sigma Chapter of Delta Sigma Kappa Soroity in Lafayette. She was a former Pink Lady Volunteer at Home Hospital in Lafayette, working in the Auxiliary Office part time. She was a former Election Poll Clerk at Lafayette for 10 years. Mrs. Watkins sold Insurance and Real Estate in Lafayette. Survivors include: Husband, Albert Watkins; Several Nieces and Nephews and Several Cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Mable (Holmes) Kestle, 3 Brothers and 2 Sisters. Memorials may be made to the White County Council on Aging in Monticello.
Wendell E. Yoder

Wendell E. "Deac" Yoder, 86, Logansport, died at 1:47 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, in Chase Center. Born in Nappanee on April 21, 1918, he was the daughter of Ora C. and Artie A. Miller Yoder. On January 13, 1940, in Kokomo, to Joan "Jo" Hudson, who survives. Mr. Yoder was a 1936 graduate of Young America High School. He worked at H.W. Gossard for 45 years as a Research and Development engineer, retiring in 1981. He then worked as a Pinkerton Security officer with Modine, retiring in 1993. His hobbies included fishing, flying, golf and music. He played many musical instruments, including the banjo, mandolin, jug, harmonica and ocarina. He was the original member of the Yankee Hillbillies of Young America. Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Judith A. Little, and Betty J. Campbell,both of Logansport, and Linda K. Wyman, Columbus; one sister, Virginia M. Wolf, Phoenix, Arizona; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas E. and Larry L. Yoder; one son-in-law; and one granddaughter and one grandson. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Rosella M. Mayhill, 86, Logansport, died at 12:32 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2004, in St. Vincent Hospital. Born February 17, 1918, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Mearl and Effie Sprowl Gallaway. On March 2, 1940, she was married to Roland W. Mayhill, who preceded in death April 14, 1998. Rosella loved needlework, traveling, cooking and spending time with her family. She was self-employed as a professional seamstress. Surviving are three daughters, Dian Hershberger, Logansport, , Priscilla Werner & her husband Joseph, of Tampa, Florida, and Nancy Beaver and her husband Ronald, of Kokomo; one brother Richard Gallaway and his wife Angie, of Logansport; six sisters, Eleanor Scagnoli, of Logansport, Margie Donato and her husband John, of Logansport, Virginia Ricci and her husband Nick, of Logansport, Joan Hopper and her husband Robert, of Logansport, Carol Abston, of Frankfort, and Judy Drummond and her husband Max, of Coco, Florida; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, one brother and two sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Roy Abrams, Jr., 72, of 3851 N. River Road, West Lafayette, formerly of Logansport, died at 3:38 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, in the Indiana Veterans' Home, where he had been a patient since September 2002. Born in Lafayette, he lived in Logansport for many years. Mr. Abrams worked as a press operator for General Tire in Logansport for 20 years, retiring in 1988. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post in Logansport, a ham and CB radio operator and enjoyed fishing. Surviving is a son, Joe Abrams of West Lafayette; two daughters, Jonie Abrams and Lisa Abrams, both of West Lafayette; a stepdaughter, Susan Boyle of Lafayette; a stepson, William Boyle of Lafayette; a sister, Sara Jane Eisenhut (husband; Earl) of Lafayette; and a brother, Richard Conger (wife; Donna) of Lafayette. Survivors also include 2 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. Interment in the Veterans Home Cemetery with military graveside rites. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, Indiana.

Violet P. Dilling, 84, of 112 Deems Drive, died at 12:09 pm Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in St Mary's Healthcare Center, where she had been a patient the past year. Born June 5, 1920, in Delphi, she resided most of her life in Lafayette. She first married Hugh Decker in 1936. She later married Eugene S. Dilling in 1976 in Las Vegas, and he survives. Mrs. Dilling had been a waitress at Giltner's, Riehle's, the Holiday Inn and the Congress Inn before retiring in 1997. She was a member of VFW Post 1154 Ladies Auxiliary, and she enjoyed sewing and painting. Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Carol J. Gourley (husband: Larry) of Monticello; and three sons, Jack N. Decker (wife: Judy) of Louisville, Steven L. Decker (wife: Donna) of Las Cruces, N.M., and James T. Decker (wife: Robin) of Deland, Florida. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dilling was preceded in death by 2 sons, 2 sisters, and a brother. Those desiring may contribute in memoriam to the American Cancer Society. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
Ruth Ferguson

Ruth passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday June 7th, 2004 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on August 10th, 1905 in Frankfort, IN. Ruth was the daugher of Epsie and Anna Fisher, a prominent farming family. In 1940, she was married to Newell S. Ferguson (Fergie) who died in 1978. Ruth and Newell lived in Lafayette and West Lafayette from 1953. She moved to Indianapolis in 2000. Well known as a cook and caterer in the Lafayette area and respected as a talented seamstress, she worked with the Purdue Glee Club and many other clients for 45 years. She enjoyed reading, growing roses, vegetable gardening, and in later years, painting china. Her crocheting left many booties, hand towels, and afghans throughout the family. She is survived by a son Ronald E. of Jacksonville, Oregon and a daughter Sara Jane Troup of Manitou Springs, Colorado, Ruth was preceded in death by a son Thomas F. Dearth (formally of the Fowler/Oxford area) from a previous marriage to Thomas H. Dearth. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Interment in Frankfort, IN immediately following the service. Contributions may be made to the Purdue Glee Club in her name.
