Clarence E. Herbert, 85, Greensburg

Clarence E. Herbert, 85, Greensburg, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

born Jan. 12, 1919 in Ripley County, he was the son of Henry Herbert and Elizabeth Young Herbert. He married Bernice L. Gray Herbert on June 14, 1943 and she survives.

Retired from Tom Sibbit after 25 years in 1985, he had worked for the Caters Construction as a Lineman for 8 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and Eagles Lodge. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II for four years and in four battles.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Lynn (Ruth) Herbert and Randy (Marybeth) Herbert, both of Greensburg; a daughter, Judy (David) Riedeman of

Greensburg; four brothers, Paul F. Herbert of Greensburg, Dennis Herbert of Westport, Lotus Herbert of Greensburg and Bobby Herbert of Greensburg, seven

grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Grissom and Dorothy Herbert and a brother, Harry Herbert.

Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mary’s Church in Greensburg with Rev. Harold Knueven officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral home in Greensburg with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Military graveside rites will be given by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Albert L. Benbow, 78, Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Albert L. Benbow, 78, Cherokee Village, Arkansas, died at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004 at his residence. He is survived by two daughters, Viola lane of Westport and Bonnie Hardebeck of Greensburg. Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Burial will follow in Rockcreek Cemetery with military graveside services. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice through the funeral home.

Sylvester A. Moorman, 92, Sunman

Sylvester A. Moorman, 92, Sunman, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.

Frances W. Blanken, 79, Batesville

Frances W. Blanken, 79, Batesville, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004 at her residence. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Napoleon with military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Lana Jo Priddy, 46, West Indiana

Lana Jo Priddy, 46, West Indiana, died at 7:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at her residence. Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home, Inc. in Columbus. Burial will follow in Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from noon until the time of service on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Isabella “Isie” Reddish, 66, Rushville

Isabella “Isie” Reddish, 66, Rushville, died at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at her residence.

born Aug. 22, 1937 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of George White and Nina Reed. She married James Reddish on Dec. 31, 1956 and he survives.

A beautician, she lived in Rush County most of her life. She graduated from Greencastle High School in 1956 and from Artistic Beauty College in Shelbyville. She worked at Schnadig Corp. for 17 years and then worked through the home base program for Gecom (of Greensburg) and was also a beautician in her own home shop. She was also a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Lisa Hunger (fiancé Mark Hackler) of Rushville, Kimberly (Phillip) Gerrian of Milroy and Lori (Darryl) Kuhn of Arlington; a brother, John White of York, SC; a sister, Kay Vance of Greencastle and seven grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert, and two sisters, Eileen and Rosanna.

Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville with Rev. Charles Aigner officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Decatur County and the St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Marie “Boone” Scheidler, 94, Greensburg

Marie “Boone” Scheidler, 94, Greensburg, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

born Dec. 13, 1909 in Howard County, she was the daughter of Daniel Everett Boone and Zella May Fee Boone. She married Carl R. Scheidler on Nov. 4, 1934. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1961.

She was retired after 30 years as secretary with Wickens & Wickens Attorney in 1984. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Church, St. Lawrence Auxillary for 50 years, Business Professional Women’s Association for 50 years and the American Legion Auxillary.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann Metcalf of Arlington, VA; a brother, Bill Boone of Greensburg and two grandchildren, Cindy and Mark (Ann) Doles.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Catherine Schwendenmann, Bernice Mozingo and Bonnie Clark.

Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church in Greensburg with Rev. Harold Knueven officiating. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church or the donor’s choice.

Kiyoko S. Wade, 62, Batesville

Kiyoko S. Wade, 62, Batesville, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Margaret Mary Hospital Hospice.

Bart K. Whittaker, 43, Falmouth

Bart K. Whittaker, 43, Falmouth, died at 5:25 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004 at his residence. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Edgar Scott, 82, of Greensburg

Edgar Scott, 82, of Greensburg, died Jan. 8, 2004 in Greensburg.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1921, in Garrett, Ky., the son of Willy and Kate (Hoover) Scott.

He worked at Indianapolis Chrysler Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the VFW of Greenfield, the Greensburg American Legion and the Greensburg Eagles. He served in the Army in World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany.

He is survived by his wife, Iva (Green) Scott of Greensburg; daughter Sally Roose of Phoenix; sons Jerry Scott of Colorado and James Scott of Greenfield; brothers Jack Mullins of Greenfield, Walter Mullins of Fortville, Don Mullins of Austin, Fred Mullins of Hindman, Ky., and Elhannan Mullins of Whitesburg, Ky; a sister, Orgie Mullins Sandlin Ellis of Greenfield; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris and Scharleen Scott; three sisters, Louis Pitts, Lena Litteral and Eva Jackson; and two brothers Herman and Orville Scott.

Visitation is Sunday, 4-8 p.m, at Pasco-Stillinger Funeral Home, Greenfield. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Monday at Park Cemetery, Greenfield. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Terry Lee Smyser, 58, of Indianapolis

Terry Lee Smyser, 58, of Indianapolis, died Friday in Indianapolis.

He was born on July 7, 1945, In Greensburg. He was a system analyst for Fleet Service, city of Indianapolis.

He was a radio ham operator and a member of the Mystic Circle Lodge, No. 655 F&AM.; He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Fish) Smyser, a daughter, Heather Marie Smyser, a sister, Jane Howard, nieces Melissa Howard and Merideth (Brett) Mills; two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Visitation is Sunday, 3-6 p.m, at the Harry Moore Family Mortuary, Indianapolis. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday at Nineveh Cemetery.

Robert L. Weissenberger, 83, Shelbyville

Robert L. Weissenberger, 83, Shelbyville, died Jan. 1, 2004 in the Heritage House Nursing Home, Shelbyville.

He was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Indianapolis, the son of Frank and Pearl (McKinley) Weissenberger. On Jan. 26, 1952, he married Kathryn A. Loudon. She died in 1996.

He was an Army veteran of Pacific Theater in World War II. Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, Shelbyville, handled arrangements. Funeral was at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include his daughter, Mary (Fred) Endris of Shelbyville; brother-in-law Richard Louden of Greensburg, a grandson and granddaughter.
