Robert D. Barclay, 79, Greensburg
Robert D. Barclay, 79, Greensburg, died at 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2004 at Methodist Hospital/Clarion Health in Indianapolis.
born Oct. 17, 1924 in Greensburg, he was the son of Forrest Barclay and Crystell Dunn. He married Dorothy Maxine Remmler on Aug. 3, 1947 and she survives.
An insurance agent for 45 years, he was the owner/ operator of his own insurance agency and was a member of the Eagles Lodge for 44 years - Golden Eagle, the Greensburg Masonic Lodge, Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriners, American Legion, Moose Lodge and the Greensburg United Methodist Church. He also served in the Navy during W.W.II and was a graduate of Greensburg High School.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a sister, Charlotte Vinup of Batesville; a brother, Paul W. Barclay of Indianapolis and nineteen nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Richard Waddle officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery where graveside military services will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the Sandusky United Methodist Church or the Eagles Lodge.

Mary H. Bischoff, 83, Batesville, died Monday, April 19, 2004 at her residence. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis Church. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.
Helen W. Hoeing, 94, Greensburg
Helen W. Hoeing, 94, Greensburg, died Sunday, April 18, 2004 at Morning Breeze in Greensburg.
born June 14, 1909 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of John T. and Josephine (Mauer) Wenning. She married Lawrence B. Hoeing on June 11, 1941 and he preceded her in death on May 1, 1993.
A housekeeper for several years in Cincinnati, OH, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a charter member of the St. Ann’s Society.
She is survived by three sons, Norbert and Alvin Hoeing, both of Greensburg and Francis Hoeing of Westport; two brothers, Edmund Wenning of Napoleon and Everett J. Wenning of Millhousen; two sisters, Bernice Hessler of Milton and Hilda Garrison of Connersville; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Fund.
Richard “Dick” Barnes, 74, Bowling Green, KY
Richard “Dick” Barnes, 74, Bowling Green, KY, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004.
The Indianapolis native was the son of the late Harold William and Carrie (Webber) Barnes. He grew up with his sister Lois Barnes Bowen in Indianapolis and Greensburg. He graduated as a basketball star from Greensburg High School. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. While stationed in Boston, he met and married his one true love, Theresa “Terry” Pineault Barnes. They moved to Lafayette where he graduated from Purdue University with an engineering degree. He supported his family as an engineer in Lafayette and Bowling Green. He retired in 1992. He was a dedicated father to his four children and a loving husband to his wife, Terry.
Besides his wife, he is survived by sons Rick (Faye) Barnes of Afton, Tenn., Mike (Edna) Syra Barnes of Owensboro and Ron Barnes of Bowling Green, KY; a daughter, Kimberly (Mitch) Barnes Longhorn of St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister, Lois Barnes Bowen of Venice, Fla.; two grandchildren, Katie and Jonathan Barnes and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at the Holy Spirit Church Hall, Bowling Green, from noon until 2 p.m. today. A light lunch will be served. The body was cremated and a private service is planned.

Rose Marie Ferrill, 86, Westport
Rose Marie Ferrill, 86, Westport, died at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2004 at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg.
born Dec. 18, 1917 in Clinton County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Alvis and Laura (Thurman) Brown. She married Willie Francis Ferrill on Sept. 6, 1938 in Aaron, Ky. He survives.
born and raised in Kentucky, she had been a Westport area resident since 1953. She was a member of the Queensville Community Church and enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening.
Besides her husband, she is survived by sons Billy and Barry Ferrill, both of Westport, Ben Ferrill of North Vernon, James Ferrill of Phillipsburg, Ohio, Michael Ferrill of Millhousen, Jerry Ferrill of Nashville and Larry Ferrill of Indianapolis; daughters, Genira (David) England of Lexington, NC, Ronda (James) Brown of Scipio and Doris. (David) Sutton of North Vernon; a sister, Sally Daily;12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Gay Ferrill; a sister, Doshie Margison; a brother, Allen Brown; a half-sister, Bessie Moreland and a half-brother, Sam Brown.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Westport Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
Kathreen Lou “Kathy” Grimes, 47, Greensburg
Kathreen Lou “Kathy” Grimes, 47, Greensburg, died Saturday, April 17, 2004 in Greensburg.
born April 20, 1956 in Madison, she was the daughter of William Faris and Pauline Romans Faris. She married Daniel W. Grimes on July 5, 1980. He survives.
A cook at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville for five years, she was a 1975 graduate of Greensburg High School and a member of the Moose Ladies Auxillary.
Besides her parents and husband, she is survived by daughters, JuDena (Donald) Perkins and Christina Shafer, both of Greensburg; brothers, Tony Faris, Carl “Fuzzy” Faris, Paul “Snork” Faris, James “Stink” Faris, all of Greensburg and Billy Faris of Connersville; sisters, Angie Aguilar of Greensburg and Sue Kegler and Misty Wilson, both of Newton, North Carolina; seven grandchildren and 18 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Lee Shafer on May 26, 1978.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Duane Lakes officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Aerie Cemetery in Letts.
Memorials may be made to Decatur County Hospice.
Forrest H. Baker, 80, Greensburg
Forrest H. Baker, 80, Greensburg, died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
born Oct. 7, 1923 in Indianapolis, he was the son of John Edward and Stella Edith (Beibout) Baker.
He was a former employee of Madison State Hospital. He also worked in the restaurant business and in construction work. While in construction, he helped build the Markland Dam on the Ohio River.
He is survived by two sons, David Lee Baker, Texas, Paul Edward Baker, Texas; one daughter, Kathryn Baker, Texas; two sisters, Betty Lowrey, Florida, Doris Higgins, Florida; one sister-in-law, Nancy Baker, Columbus; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald Joseph Baker, two brothers, Grover H. Baker, James Baker; and one sister, Eleanore Baker.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Fields officiating. Internment will be held in the Soldiers Circle at South Park Cemetery.
The VFW will conduct military graveside services.
Memorials may be made to the General Baptist Church in Columbus.
Sarah Ellen Bowlby, 90, Greensburg
Sarah Ellen Bowlby, 90, Greensburg, died at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
born March 15, 1914 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Albert Hunter and Opal (Dorsey) Hunter. She married Byrl Bowlby on Sept. 28, 1935. He preceded her in death in February 1971.
A factory worker, she worked for BCA Corp. in Greensburg for nine years and retired in 1980. She was also a housewife and a member of the Union Baptist Church in Decatur County.
She is survived by a son, Gary A. (Patricia) Bowlby of Waldron and two grandchildren, Damon (Becky) Bowlby and Alisan Bowlby of Florida.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. Cliff Bunch officiating. Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Decatur County Heart Association.
