Jennifer Blake Goddard, 34, Columbus

Jennifer Blake Goddard, 34, Columbus, died at 8:19 p.m. April 8, 2004 at Columbus Regional Hospital.

born Aug. 18, 1969 in Columbus, she was the daughter of Roger and Linda Smith Blake.

She worked at American Health Network in Franklin and attended Parkside Baptist Church. She was also an avid NASCAR racing, Tony Stewart and Indiana University sports fan.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, Roger and Betty Blake of Greensburg; her mother and stepfather, Linda and Sherdon Rhoades of Scipio; two daughters, Nicole C. and Ashley R. Goddard, both of Columbus; a brother, James Blake of Indianapolis; a fiancé, Ronald Jones of Columbus; step-brother Rick Perkins of Greensburg; stepsisters, Teresa Smith of Milroy, Amber Rhoades of London and Amanda Rhoades of Elizabethtown; grandmother Lucille Smith of Hope; grandfather, Clifton Blake of Hope; step-grandmother, Alma Rhoades of Hope and great-grandmother, Cora Snoddy.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harley Smith and Nola Blake.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home, Rev. Dale Goddard officiating. Burial followed at Hope Moravian Cemetery.

Marjorie Ponder Carmack, 78, Hamilton, Ohio

Marjorie Ponder Carmack, 78, Hamilton, Ohio, died at 9:31 a.m. Sunday, April 11, 2004 at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. in Hamilton.Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Ellen “Ruth” Idlewine, 95, Westport

Ellen “Ruth” Idlewine, 95, Westport, died at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.

born Nov. 13, 1908 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of William and Stella (Coffey) Belt. She married Adam S. Idlewine, Sr. on Sept. 25, 1926 in Greensburg. He preceded her in death in 1974.

A lifelong resident of Decatur County prior to entering the nursing home in April 2003, she was a member of the Westport United Methodist Church and the Westport Senior Citizens. She had worked at the Bewley Bakery in Westport for nine years before retiring from Arvin Industries at Columbus after 20 years of service.

She is survived by four sons, Adam S. Idlewine, Jr. and Norman “Butch” Idlewine, both of Westport and Francis and James “Joe” Idlewine, both of Greensburg; two daughters, Elnora (Mrs. Harvey) Sturdivant of Westport and Donna (Mrs. Richard) Marshall of Greensburg; two half-brothers, Ray Belt of Muncie and Melvin Belt of Anderson; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Edward Idlewine; a brother, Notria Belt; two half-sisters; two half-brothers; two step-daughters and a grandson.

Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home,with Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport.

Memorials may be made to the Miller’s Merry Manor Activity Fund, the Westport United Methodist Church or the United Baptist Church, through the funeral home.

Lena Mae Meyer, 74, Batesville

Lena Mae Meyer, 74, Batesville, died on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 in Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Friday the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman. Memorials may be made to Margaret Mary Hospice.

Jennifer Lee Goddard, 34, Columbus, died at 8:19 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Burial will follow in Hope Moravian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Monday.

Sawyer Finnian June, two weeks old

Sawyer Finnian June, two weeks old, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 in Atlanta.

He was the son of Mark and Pamela (Sahm) June. He is also survived by brothers Zachary June and Ethan June in Atlanta; grandparents Joe and Nancy Sahm, Greensburg, Norm and Aline June and Ardel Zach, all of Florida.

The Funeral Mass was Monday in Atlanta.

Francis E. Bausback, 90, Greensburg

Francis E. Bausback, 90, Greensburg, died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

born on Jan. 20, 1914 in Shelby County, he was the son of George Bausback and Ola Alexander Bausback. He married his first wife, Ruth Carol Gray in 1936 and she preceded him in death in 1986. He then married Adelaide Lois Lowe on May 9, 1987 in Greensburg and she preceded him in death in 2002.

He worked and was president of the family-owned business, Standard Fertilizer Co. in Greensburg and was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge in Greensburg, Scottish Rite, Shriner’s Club, Modern Woodmen, O.E.S., Eagles Lodge and the Knights of Pythias Lodge for 50 years. He was also a 1932 graduate of Greensburg High School.

He is survived by three sisters, Deloris Joyner Hudson of Florida, Dorothy (Mrs. Edward) Howard of Greensburg and Betty (Mrs. Wilbur) Roberts of Batesville; five step-children, several step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and both wives, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Judith and Ruth Bausback and two brothers Omer and Eugene Bausback.

Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Charles Wilfong officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery in Greensburg. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Greensburg United Methodist Church.

James F. Schwering, 82, Greensburg

James F. Schwering, 82, Greensburg, died at 1:42 a.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.

born Jan. 27, 1922 in Decatur County, he was the son of Joseph and Verena (Ortman) Schwering. He married Laura M. Wenning on Oct. 23, 1947. She preceded him in death in1996.

A PFC in the Army during World War II, he was a former nurseryman at the Wayside Garden Center, then at Pottenger Nursery where he retired in 1984.

He is survived by a daughter, Lynn Ann (Steven) Mader of Spencer and four grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence, Clarence, Lee and Charles Schwering and sisters Alice and Frances Schwering.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg, where a Prayer Service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greensburg.

Wilbur Dale Hazelgrove, Sr., 63, North Vernon

Wilbur Dale Hazelgrove, Sr., 63, North Vernon, died at 7:01 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon. Funeral service was today at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon. Burial was in Milford Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family through the funeral home.

Cynthia M. Hubbard, 45, Indianapolis

Cynthia M. Hubbard, 45, Indianapolis, died at 6:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at IU Medical Center in Indianapolis.

born Nov. 5, 1958 in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Raymond Motz and Mary E. (Lee) Motz Davis. She married Michael Hubbard on April 5, 1992 in Michigan City. He survives.

born and raised in Greensburg, she had been residing in Indianapolis for the past eight years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by sons Tim Carroll II of Greensburg and Matthew Carroll of Indianapolis; a step-son, Nathan Hubbard of Dalton, GA; a daughter, Rachel Carroll of Indianapolis; a step-daughter, DeLana Hubbard Pevlor of Dalton, GA; sisters Christine and Stacie Innis, both of Greensburg, Peggy (Mike) Bishop of Versailles and Michelle Reisert of Brookville; brothers, Steven R. (Bonnie) Motz, Jerry L. (Dorothy) Motz and Chad Innis, all of Greensburg, Dennis J. Vanderbur of Columbus, Kenneth (Sandy) Vanderbur of Versailles and Mark Dwenger of Vincennes and six grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, M. Danelle Carroll and a brother, Robert B. Dwenger.

Visitation will be from noon until the 2 p.m. service Thursday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport, Rev. Clarence Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Westport Cemetery.

Mary Louise Smith, 82, Millhousen

Mary Louise Smith, 82, Millhousen, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at her residence.

born May 13, 1921 in Greenwood County, SC, she was the daughter of Noah and Luna (Tucker) Spurlock. She married Alvin Smith on Nov. 26, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1998.

A homemaker, she also worked at the Nutone Corp. in Cincinnati, was a member of the Union Flat Rock Baptist Church and was a former member of the Ladies Wednesday afternoon bowling league.

She is survived by a son, Larry A. (Becky) Smith of Millhousen; daughters, Mary Frances (Carl) Redelman, Virginia Striecker and Alvina Ogle, all of Greensburg and Bonnie (Mark) Rody of Hope; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a brother who died in infancy and a sister, Ira Mae McNutt.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Flat Rock Cemetery, south of Millhousen.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
