Clarence Ray Rich, 71, Greensburg
Clarence Ray Rich, 71, Greensburg, died at 2:03 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004 at Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis.
born Dec. 31, 1932 in Newport, Ky., he was the son of George and Edith (Gosney) Rich. He married Lois Ann Hickman Rich on Nov. 11, 1951 in Kentucky and she preceded him in death on July 6, 1971.
A model maker at Delta Faucet, a division of the MASCO Corp., he worked at several locations, but mainly in Indianapolis and Greensburg.
He is survived by two sons, Dan (Terri) Rich and John Edward (Shirley) Rich, both of Greensburg; two daughters, Sandra (Steve) Craig of Greensburg and Linda Ann Rich of Columbus; a nephew, Elden George Seimer of Greensburg; a longtime friend and companion, Lois Bridges of Greensburg; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Rich and two sisters, Viola Young and Shirley Mae Seimer.
Funeral service is at 7 p.m. Monday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
Doris Bishop Beville, 79, former resident of St. Paul
Doris Bishop Beville, 79, former St. Paul and Shelbyville resident, died at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at St. Johns Health Systems in Anderson. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenn E. George Funeral Home in St. Paul. Burial will follow in Paul Hill Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Christian Church.
Rosalie L. Reynolds, 77, of Knoxville, Tenn.
Rosalie L. Reynolds, 77, of Knoxville, Tenn., died March 12, 2004 in Knoxville.
Rosalie was born May 26, 1926 in Knoxville, the daughter of Henery and Lillie (Johnson) Luke. In August 1948, in Ringgold, Ga., she married Bruce E. Reynolds. He died in 1970.
Rosalie worked in Greensburg at the Randall Co., until she quit to become a homemaker and raise her children. She lived in Greensburg from 1973-1985, when she returned to Knoxville.
She was a member of Stock Creek Baptist Church in Knoxville.
She was also preceded in death by sons Edwin E. and Wayne “Earl” Reynolds and by a daughter, Gwendolyn A. Reynolds; by sisters May Dance of Greensburg, Hazel Kurby and Ruth Brooks of Knoxville; and brothers Joe Lyke and Earl Lyke of Knoxville.
She is survived by daughters Jean Rose Reynolds and Darlene Elizabeth Huey of Knoxville, Brenda Kay Baker of Shelbyville, Wanda Fay Sorber of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Patricia Beatrice Weber of Napoleon and Donna Lee Niese of Bloomington; a son, Bruce Elmer Reynolds of Canton Township, Mich.; grandchildren Gerald Soelz, Michelle Roberts and Michael Reynolds of Michigan; Robert Freeman, Jr., Benjurman [Benjamin?] Huey of Knoxville; Allen Baker of Shelbyville; Kera Reynolds of Greensburg; and Cody Niese of Bloomington.
Services and visitation were in Knoxville.
Marvin R. Stoner, 74, of Greensburg
Marvin R. Stoner, 74, of Greensburg, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004 in Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
Marvin was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Jennings County, the son of James A. and Maggie (Gwinn) Stoner. On Sept. 9, 1950, in Jennings Co. at St. Anne’s Church, he married Rose A. Yux. She survives.
Marvin served in the Army in the Korean Conflict. He was a employee of Conrail for 43 years. He was also a tax consultant for H&R; Block, Physical Tax Corp.s and was a registered tax adviser for the IRS in Washington. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He is also survived by a son, Jim E. Stoner of Raleigh, N.C, daughters Janet Lawrence of Greensburg and Joyce Thurman of Fishers; brothers Marshall, Herschel and Jesse Stoner, all of North Vernon and Norman Stoner of Wisconsin; grandchildren Ryan Lawrence and Hillary of Greenwood, Kellen Lawrence of Greensburg, Mandy Roberts and Marcie Roberts of Fishers,
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, Greensburg, where a prayer service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Services are Saturday at 10 a.m.at his church, Msg. Harold Kneuven officiating. Internment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
Lonnie E. “Pete” Elliott, 48, Westport
Lonnie E. “Pete” Elliott, 48, Westport, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at Midwestern Regional Medical Center at Zion, Ill.
born Oct. 2, 1955 in Greensburg, he was the son of Floyd Melvin and Betty (Switzer) Elliott.
A lifelong resident of Westport, he was employed by Milestone Contracting at Columbus and was a member of Fredonia Community Church. He attended South Decatur High School.
Besides his mother, Betty Elliott Condreay of Windy, KY, he is survived by a son, Matthew Elliott of Westport; a step daughter, Tiffany Fritz of Columbus; a sister, Melvina Elliott of Windy, KY and a half brother, Bob Biddinger of Greensburg.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steven B. Elliott and a sister, Minnie Sue Elliott Snyder.
Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Burial will follow in Mt. Aerie Cemetery in Letts. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the Midwestern Regional Medical and Cancer Center.
Michael L. Nobbe, 48, Terre Haute
Michael L. Nobbe, 48, Terre Haute, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at his residence.
born March 11, 1956 in Batesville, he was the son of Ralph E. Nobbe and Dorothy H. Vetter Nobbe.
He was a procurement manager for Railworks Wood Products for 25 years. Graduating from Purdue University in 1978 with a degree in forestry, he was a member of the Purdue University Alumni Association, past president of Railway Tie Association and served on several committees with this organization. He was also a member of the Society of American Foresters and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Besides his father and his spouse, Rosemary Branncamp Nobbe of Westport, he is survived by two daughters, Heather E. and Ashley C. Nobbe of Terre Haute; former wife, Mary Kaye Stout Nobbe of Terre Haute; a sister, Denise Nobbe Zeigler of Greensburg; three brothers, Kenneth J. (Tonya B.) Nobbe and Jerome R. (Melanie) Nobbe, both of Greensburg and Theodore A. (Stephanie) Nobbe of Gainsville, GA; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy H. Vetter Nobbe.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon services Saturday at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St. in Terre Haute with Father Joe Villa officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
John R. Parmer, 64, Enochsburg
John R. Parmer, 64, Enochsburg, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Margaret Mary Community Hospital.
John was born in Decatur County Oct. 16, 1939, to Rolland and Ruth (King) Parmer. He married Cheryl (Bohman) Parmer June 3, 1967, in Enochsburg. She survives.
A 1957 graduate of the former New Point High School, he was a salesman for Briggs Equipment, Greensburg. He had also worked at Lowe’s Pellets & Grain and as a truck driver at Hill-Rom Co. The avid golfer and race fan was a member of North Branch Golf Course, St. John’s Catholic Church, Enochsburg, and was a founder and board member of Napoleon Water Co.
Other survivors include sons Mark (Suzanne) and Tad (Angie) Parmer of Greensburg; two brothers: Bill Parmer of Middletown, and Jim Parmer Sante Fe, N.M.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles “Bud” Parmer; and a sister, Dorothy Phillips.
Visitation is today, 2-8 p.m. at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg. where a Prayer Service will take place at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be at St. John’s Catholic Church Saturday, at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the church, the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

Mary Frances Miller, 73, Greensburg
Mary Frances Miller, 73, of Greensburg, died at 6:55 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2004 in Major Hospital, Shelbyville.
Mary Frances was born April 27, 1930, in Campbellville, Ky., the daughter of Walter G. and Lena Jane (Richardson) Mardis. On Jun 1, 1947, she married Chester Miller. He survives.
Mary Frances was a homemaker and a dairy farmer with her husband, retiring in 1975, after 30 years of work.
Mary Frances is also survived by daughter Diana Sue (David) Bennett of Greensburg and son Kenneth Wayne (Debra) Miller of Shelbyville; sisters Margaret Rouse of Morristown and Betty Jean Simpson of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren Sally Cuskaden, Nancy Ross, Jason Bennett, Gregory Bennett, Philip Bennett, Chris Miller and Andrew Miller; great-grandchildren Connor Cuskaden, Cory Cuskaden, Kendall Cuskaden, Alison Ross and Brian Ross.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Mardis.
She was a member of New Life Methodist Church, Fairland and a charter member of the Lucky 15 Extension Homemakers.
Visitation is Thursday, 4-8 p.m. at Glenn George & Son Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, Rev. Gloria Nelson officiating. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to her church, in care of the funeral home.
