Paul Edward Combs, Sr., 59, Brewersville
Paul Edward Combs, Sr., 59, Brewersville, died at 8:40 p.m. at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
born Aug. 20, 1944 in Ripley County, he was the son of William H. Combs and Laura (McKee) Combs. He married Stephanie (McIntosh) Combs on Aug. 23, 1997 in Brewersville. She survives.
A truck driver, he was a 1962 graduate of North Vernon High School and a veteran of the Air Force. He had owned Paul’s Game Birds for the past five years and was a driver for Pony Express Courier in Indianapolis for twelve years. Previous to that, he worked at Columbus Pet Food Supplies for three years and at William’s Foods for six years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mechanics and training dogs.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Daniel and Paul E. Combs, Jr., both of Brewersville and Robert Combs of Reddington; three daughters, Sheila Hurtado of Portage, Sandra Johnson of North Vernon and Shelley Brooke of Rushville; two sisters, Norma Manlief of Westport and Lila Switzer of Greensburg and 14 grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, William Lee, David Eugene, Oscar Gary, and Robert Clay Combs.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Damon Marling of the United Christian Church officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by North Vernon Veterans of Foreign Wars, Matt Hester Post 2021. Burial will follow in Coffee Creek Christian Cemetery in Paris Crossing. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Hollis J. Lemmon, 85, Connersville, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home in Connersville. Warren Lodge No. 15F & A.M. will conduct masonic memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Springersville Cemetery with military graveside services performed by the Fayette County Color Guard.

Gertie Weisenbach, 85, Batesville, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Church in Batesville. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Helen C. (Snider) Hall, 96, of Cincinnati, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004.
Helen was born in Greensburg and later lived in Steubenville, Ohio.
She married Sattolia J. “Tollie” Hall. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughters Mary M. “Lynn” (the late Bob) Preston and sons S. Jean (Mary Pat) Hall, Ronald J. (Grace) Hall and Donald L. (Elaine) Hall; grandchildren Randy, Ryan and Robert Preston, Mark Hall, Sandy Mason, Julie Collins and Linda Adams, Deborah Lewis and Brian, Michelle and Susan Hall; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today, 5-9 p.m. at Hodapp Funeral Home, 7401 Vine St. Carthage, Ohio, Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday at the Church of the Assumption, 7711 Joseph St., Cincinnati, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Radio Rosary, Box 15026, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45215.

Nicholas E. Osier, 87, of Batesville, died Saturday morning, Feb. 28, 2004 at Margaret Mary Hospital. Visitation is today, 4-8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Church. The family requests memorials to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research or the Batesville EMS 10 Rescue Squad.
Charles “Punk” Hedrick, 67, Columbus
Charles “Punk” Hedrick, 67, Columbus, died at Columbus Regional Hospital at 12:07 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004.
born Feb. 17, 1937 in Decatur County, he was the son of John Floyd Hedrick and Nellie Mae White.
He worked at Cummins for 38 years, Como Plastics and as a farmer. He also collected Indian artifacts and eagles.
He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Arthur and Brenda Hamilton, both of Columbus and Jennifer McNealy of Greensburg; two sons, Kenneth Hedrick of Columbus and Rodger Shepherd of Greensburg; four sisters, Mary McGuire and Betty Stewart, both of Hartsville, Wilma Linville of North Vernon and Diane Scott of English; a brother Marvin Hedrick of Hartsville; a companion, Naomi Shepherd of Columbus; nine grandchildren, six step grandchildren and a step great-grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenny, Paul, Dale, Don and David Hedrick.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Ross Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in Union Presbyterian Cemetery in Decatur County. Visitation will be from 4-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Naomi M. Reiger, 96, Greensburg
Naomi M. Reiger, 96, Greensburg, died at 7:08 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
born Dec. 17, 1907 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Lorenzo Wolford and Cora Alice Purvis Wolford. She married Charles Reiger on May 28, 1930 and he survives.
A teacher, she taught at St. Paul from 1927-30, Sandcreek Township Schools from 1957-62, and Greensburg Schools from 1962-73 when she retired. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greensburg, Retired Teachers Association, Past President of the Decatur County Home Econ. Club and also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She graduated from high school in 1926, attended Indiana University from 1926-27, received her BS in Education in 1961 from Butler University and finally received her MS in Education in 1966 from Butler.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, John and George Reiger, both of Greensburg and Doctor Roger Lee Reiger of Lafayette; two daughters, Nancy Jane Prange of Greensburg and Susan Wendeln of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Lewis Wolford.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg with Rev. Lee Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Roy S. Buchanan, 91, Casselberry, Fla.
Roy S. Buchanan, 91, Casselberry, Fla. died on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at Winter Park Memorial Hospital in Winter Park.
born, Aug. 3, 1912 in Rushville, Roy was the son of Rex L. Buchanan and Nora (Reynolds) Buchanan.
He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and worked 32 years with New York Central and Penn Central Railroads. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church of Casselberry.
He is survived by a wife, Leah L. Buchanan; three sons, Richard D., William R. and Gerald L. Buchanan; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
A graveside service will be conducted at All Faiths Memorial Park at a later date. Funeral services are being arranged by Banfield Funeral Home, 420 W. State Road 434 in Winter Springs, Fla.
Merelyn L. Buck, 78, Batesville
Merelyn L. Buck, 78, Batesville, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004 at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.
born Nov. 21, 1925 in Batesville, Merelyn was the daughter of Gayle and Helen L. (Schmocker) Dugle. She married John R. Buck on Jan. 16, 1947 in Batesville. He preceded her in death in 1998.
Retired from PSI, she was a 1944 graduate of Batesville High School, a member of the Batesville United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
She is survived by two daughters, Michele L. Werner and Jennifer L. Menser, both of Batesville; a son, Thomas P. Buck of Greensburg; a sister, Mary Shafer of New Point; two half-sisters, Joann Higgins Schmitt of Indianapolis and Connie Newman of Texas; three half-brothers, Gayle Dugle, Jr. and Robert Dugle of Greensburg and Donald Dugle of Shelbyville, KY; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Denver and Paul Dugle; two half-sisters, Elizabeth Carol Shafer and Judy Dugle; a half-brother, Richard Davis and two step-sisters, Doris May Maple and Jean Reed.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Batesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Marhanka officiating. Burial will follow in Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to J. Michael Hansen, M.D., Oncology Center.

Virginia Clouse, 70, Hope, died at 1:08 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004 at Columbus Regional Hospital.
born Feb. 1, 1934 in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Roland and Vey Minor Hitchcock. She married Joe E. Clouse on Sept. 30, 1952. He survives.
A former worker at Cosco, Inc. in Columbus and Union Starch, Virginia was a member of the Hope First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Connie J. Clouse of Nashville and Dianna S. Brodt of Brentwood, Tenn.; a son, David J. Clouse of Columbus; a brother, Bill Hitchcock of Columbus and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Jerry K. Day, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
