Johanna Lecher, 85, Greensburg, died at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born July 22, 1918 in Oldenburg, she was the daughter of Michael Rudolf and Josephine Lamping Rudolf. She married George E. Lecher on Aug. 17, 1938 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1979.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Lawrence Auxillary and St. Mary’s Church in Greensburg.
She is survived by six sons, Charles (Ruth) Lecher, Ronald (Donna) Lecher, Dennis (Gayla) Lecher and Steven (Edith) Lecher, all of Greensburg, Robert G. (Betsy) Lecher of Oldenburg and Eugene (Patti) Lecher of St. Mary’s of the Rock; a brother, Bernard Rudolf of Beech Grove; two sisters, Verena Doyle of Connersville and Marian White of Cincinnati, Ohio; 35 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Joe Rudolf, Clarence Rudolf, Quirin Rudolf, Robert Rudolf and Francis Rudolf.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven and Rev. Roger Rudolf officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greensburg. Rosary service is at 8 p.m. tonight at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s School or St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Edith A. Steinkamp, 56, Batesville, died Friday, July 9, 2004. Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Church in Batesville. Visitation is tonight from 4-8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Memorials may be made to the Jewish Hospital Oncology Patient Activity Room, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the J. Michael Hansen Oncology Center.
Vivian Mae Davis, 86, St. Paul
Vivian Mae Davis, 86, St. Paul, died at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg.
Born May 10, 1918 in Flat Rock, she was the daughter of Clem Higgins and Lucy (Pike) Higgins. She married Francis M. Davis on Nov. 17, 1938 and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1989.
A homemaker, she was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle of Shelbyville for 43 years.
She is survived by five daughters, Donna Sue (Tom) Ellerman of St. Paul, Sandra (Les) Holzhausen of St. Paul, Barbara (Roger) McCracken of St. Paul, Karen (Garry) Streeval of Noblesville and Rita (Tony) George of St. Paul; a brother, William (Bill) Higgins of Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Willetta Courtney, Virginia Isgrigg and Elsie Barlow and a brother, Leonard Higgins.
Funeral service is at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Revs. Robert Cavaness, Garry Streeval and Jeff Sangl officiating. Burial will follow in Union Chapel Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Harold Hardy Fox, 85, Greensburg
Harold Hardy Fox, 85, Greensburg, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at Southpoint Terrace at Jacksonville, Fla.
Born Jan. 4, 1919 on the Fox family farm in Clay township in Decatur County, he was the son of Hardy and Ethel (Sealy) Fox. He married Mary Jo Fulton on June 14, 1945 in Waynesburg and she preceded him in death in 1982. He was also married to Crystal Anderhub from 1986 until 2000 when ill health caused them to retire full-time nursing care.
He resided most of his life in Clay Township. In 1998, he moved to an assisted living facility in Jacksonville, Fla., near his son, Jon. He resided there until the past several weeks when his health began to decline. For 37 years, between 1948 and 1985, Harold was a rural mail carrier, well-known to several generations of patrons on Rural Route 4 outside of Greensburg. He was also a farmer having assumed responsibility for the family farm after the death of his father. He as active for many years in the National Rural Letter Carriers Association and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had also been a member of the Waynesburg Christian Church, the First Christian Church of Greensburg and the Burney Baptist Church. He graduated from Burney High School in 1936. In 1942, he joined the Army Air Corps and was assigned to the 5th Air Force. During World War II, he was stationed in Australia and New Guinea and was discharged in 1945 as a result of injuries sustained while overseas.
He is survived by two sons, Jon Fox of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. and Don Fox of Bethesda, Md.; a brother, Paul Fox of Taylorsville; three grandchildren, Tricia Eckert of Silver Spring, Md., Wesley Fox and Jody Fox, both of Bethesda, Md., and a great-grandson, Jon Ryan Eckert of Silver Spring, Md.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Verdis, Herman and Earl Fox.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Rand Hooten officiating. Burial will follow in Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Community Hospice of North East Florida (www.communityhospice.com) for its support. Envelopes will also be available through the funeral home.

Erma Virginia (Tudy) (Abbott) Heaton, 87, Clearwater, Fla., died on Wednesday, June 30, 2004.
She was the daughter of John and Kate Abbott and the widow of Wilbur (Bill) Heaton.
She is survived by a daughter and a son, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home, Clearwater, Fla., was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Funeral services took place Saturday, July 3.
Jackie Marie Stamper May, 24, Connersville
Jackie Marie Stamper May, 24, Connersville, died Monday, July 5, 2004 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on SR 44, west of Connersville.
Born July 18, 1979 in Richmond, she was the daughter of Marvin and Phyllis Parker May (Starvin’ Marvin).
She moved to Connersville with her family in 1980 and she attended elementary school at Frazee and later the Connersville Middle School. In 1997, she graduated from Connersville High School where she was involved with the CHS Color Guard. She was also a former employee of the Village Pantry on West Third Street and was currently employed as an agent for Western Southern Life Insurance. She enjoyed playing softball, dancing and camping with her two boys.
Besides her parents, she is survived by two sons, Chase Stamper and Andrew Stamper, both of Connersville; two sisters, Tracy May (Scott) Brown and Trisha May and fiancé Jon Hensley, all of Connersville; a brother, Josh (Ty) Bunch of Connersville; three nieces, Brookelyn Bunch, Justice Brown and Sadie Hensley, all of Connersville; two nephews, Dylon Bunch and Justin Brown of Connersville; a grandmother, Mary (Myer) Shank of Richmond; a step grandmother, Jean May of Richmond; her fiancé, Brent Lacey of Greensburg; numerous aunts and uncles, including Cindy May of Richmond and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, James Clay May, Thurman Wesley Parker and Sadie Marie Parker; two aunts, Donna Marie May and Lori May and two uncles, Edward Earl May, Sr. and Marvin Dodge.
Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Friday at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery in Wayne County. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Chase and Andrew Stamper Fund.

Sharon Kay Clark, 60, Indianapolis, died Sunday, July 4, 2004 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.
Born in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Wilbur Phillips and Edith Clark Phillips. She married Thomas E. Clark on Feb. 1, 1964 and he survives.
A secretary for Harlan-Sprague-Dawley Co. in Indianapolis, she was a 1962 graduate of Greensburg High School.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her mother, Edith Phillips of Indianapolis; a son, Thomas Scott Clark of Indianapolis and two grandchildren, Christopher and Kiersten Clark.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Greensburg, Rev. James Reece officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery in Greensburg.
