Jack King, 82

Jack King, 82, of Greensburg passed away Monday October 15, 2007 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born April 15, 1925 to Winnie (McCoy) and Bud King in Barbersville, KY. He was married to Mary Jane (Hubbard) King in April of 1946. She precedes him in death. He was the owner and Well Driller at King-Well Drilling for 65+ years. He was a veteran in the United States Navy.

He is survived by a daughter: Judy Dickson of Greensburg, IN a Son: Russell King of Cumming, OH and a sister: Betty Langdon of Cincinnati, OH. 2 Grandchildren, 1 Great- Grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Kenneth Michael King, and a sister: Billie Cooper.

Services will be Thursday October 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM in the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home with visitation there on Wednesday October 17, 2007 from 3-7PM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the South Park Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Sr. Ramona Lunsford, O.S.F., 71

Sr. Ramona Lunsford, O.S.F., 71, of the Srs. of St. Francis in Oldenburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2007 at the convent.

Born Sept. 8, 1936, at Oak Forest in Franklin County, she was the daughter of Ethel (Weinheimer) and Charles J. Lunsford.

Sr. Ramona entered the convent Sept. 8, 1954, and professed her final vows August 12, 1960. She was a teacher, principal and school supervisor, having taught at several schools in Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Fairfield, Ohio. She served as a member of the General Council for the Franciscan Congregation from 1982 to 1986 and ministered as director of development from 1988 to 2000. From 2001 to the present, Sr. Ramona was clerical assistant and driver for St. Claire Hall, the health care facility for the Sisters.

She is survived by her sisters, Rita Gramman, Brookville; Alice Springman, Beech Grove; Charlene Bravard, Batesville; Emilie Market, Brookville; Elaine Amberger, Batesville; brothers, Richard Lunsford, Guilford; Arnold Lunsford, Greencastle; Ralph Lunsford, Brookville; Steve Lunsford, Batesville; Willie Lunsford, Napoleon; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Lunsford.

Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16 at the Srs. of St. Francis Motherhouse Chapel in Oldenburg. Funeral services will follow with Bishop Gettelfinger officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Oldenburg.

Charles Edward Ostendorf, 87

Charles Edward Ostendorf of New Point passed away Oct. 13, 2007 in Greensburg. Visitation will be today from 9:30-11 a.m. at New Point Christian Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. He will be buried in the Smyrna Lutheran Church Cemetery in Decatur County with military graveside rites. He is survived by his children Larry (Carol) Ostendorf of Greensburg, Dale Ostendorf of Napoleon, Keith (Debbie) Ostendorf of New Point, Gary (Linda) Ostendorf of Newpoint and Donna Young of Greensburg. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Simon) Ostendorf. Memorials can be made to the Smyrna Lutheran Church. Arrangements are by Myers Funeral Home.

Linda Kutchback Taylor, 69

Linda Kutchback Taylor, 69 of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on October 12, 2007 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital Greensburg.

She was born on July 8, 1938 in Greensburg, the daughter of Raymond and Pauline (Davis) Kutchback.

She was a 1958 graduate of Greensburg High School. She worked at NTN BCA for 35 years working as a Maintenance Crib Attendant. She was a member of the First Baptist Church Greensburg.

She married Donald G. Taylor on July 10, 1955 in Greensburg and he survives.

She is also survived by two daughters, Debra Taylor of Largo, Fla. and Diana (Charles) Kirtman of Sardinia; one son, David (Sandy) Taylor of Lambertville, MI.; one brother, Gary Kutchback of Mooresville; six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Monday, October 15 from 4 - 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 16 at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with Dr. Lee Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the South Park Cemetery in Greensburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B. Komen for the Cure Foundation, American Diabetes Association or to the Parkinson Association.

Wilma Irene Sheldon, 84

Wilma Irene Sheldon, 84 of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away on January 14, 2008 at 7:02 a.m. at the Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was born on June 1, 1923 in Westport, Indiana to William Ira and Esther Ruth (Hoy) Layton.

She was born in Westport and had resided in Coralville, Iowa, Colorado Springs, Colorado and other cities in Indiana. She was a member of the Westport Baptist Church. She was a hospital volunteer.

She married Don Sheldon in Westport, Indiana on January 28, 1951.

She is survived by her husband, Don Sheldon of Colorado Springs, CO.; three daughters, Anne Araya of Fort Thomas, KY, Karen Kae (Nat) Sheldon of Iowa City, Iowa, Sharon Sue (Larell) Stalkfleet of Alameda, CA.; one son, Don (Tom) Sheldon, Jr. of San Francisco, CA.; one brother, Franklin (Dorothy) Layton of Columbus; two grandchildren, Lisa Araya of Fort Thomas, KY, Nicolai (Sarah) Stalkfleet of North Liberty, Iowa and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Stalkfleet of North Liberty, Iowa and Allison Stalkfleet of North Liberty, Iowa

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wanda Hutton and Betty Warble.

Visitation services will be on Thursday, January 17 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home in Westport, Indiana. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 18 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Westport Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice through the funeral home.

Joe Hollin, 65

Joe Hollin, 65 of Greensburg, Indiana passed away at his home on January 13, 2008.

He was born in Manchester, Kentucky on January 24, 1942, the son of Stella and Critt Hollin.

He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time camping, mushroom hunting, flower and vegetable gardening. He was an expert craftsman and made beautiful knives and walking sticks. He enjoyed reading books of American heritage and collecting knives.

He married Mary Ullmayer in February of 1966 and together have three children, Kathleen Macke, Natalie Acra and Daniel Hollin all of Greensburg. He also leaves three grandchildren; Daniel Hollin, Kate and Brant Acra; and a brother Charles Cobb of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Critt Hollin, and a nephew, Chris Cobb.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 17 at the Smith and Ogle Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at 12 p.m. Burial will be in the Oxford Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Joe’s memory through floral gifts or a donation to the family.

Edna A. Laker, 87

Edna A. Laker, 87 of St. Mary’s, Indiana passed away on January 12, 2008 at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Visitation services will be on Tuesday, January 15 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16 at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church with Rev. David Kohut O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Building Fund or the Eagle Fire Company.

Martin B. Kleine, 89

Martin B. Kleine, 89 of Oldenburg, Indiana passed away on January 12, 2008 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Bateville.

Visitation services will be on Tuesday, January 1 from 9 - 10:45 a.m. at the Holy Family Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Family Religious Education Fund.

Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville, Indiana was entrusted with the arrangements.

Edward J. Kinker, Sr., 100

Edward J. Kinker, Sr., 100 of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on January 10, 2008 at the St. Andrews Health Care in Batesville.

He was born on July 25, 1907 in Decatur County, Indiana, he was the son of August and Theresa (Puelsing) Kinker.

He was a farmer and also had worked three years during WW II at Klinger Packing. He worked at Farm Bureau Co-op, Greensburg for 17 years and for AS-CS Ag Soil Conservation Service for four years. He was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in Enochsburg and a member of the Farm Bureau. He used to write poems for the Greensburg Daily News years ago.

He was married to Margaret Mary Koehne on July 31, 1935 and she preceded him in death on May 9, 1996.

He is survived by six sons, John E. (Joanne) Kinker of Sunman, Anthony A. (Kathleen) Kinker of Greensburg, Thomas A. (Judy) Kinker of Enochsburg, Dennis E. (Mary Lou) Kinker of Greensburg, Carl J. (Kandi) Kinker of Carmel, Edward G. (Rose) Kinker of Greensburg; two daughters, Theresa A. (Richard) Eckstein of Batesville, Phyllis M. (Richard) Martin of West Harrison; one sister, Theresa (Joseph) Mauer of Greensburg; 26 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Joseph, Harry and Frank Kinker; two sisters, Mary Kinker, Henrietta Wolke; one granddaughter, Sara Kinker.

Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday, January 14 at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A rosary service will be held prior to the visitation at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15 at the St. John Catholic Church in Enochsburg with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Interment will be held in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. John Catholic Church through the funeral home.
