Robert Lee Leonard, Sr.
Robert Lee Leonard, Sr., 67, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Leonard was born on November 21, 1941 in North Vernon, Indiana the son of Gilbert and Alice Arnold Leonard. He married Alwyna J. Horton on February 14, 1960 at Centerville Baptist Church in Jennings County, Indiana.
Mr. Leonard retired as a salesman in 1976 after 18 years with the North Vernon Beverage Company in North Vernon, Indiana. He was a member of North Vernon Church of Christ, Sky Writers C. B. Club. A former member of Clifty Creek Coon Hunters Club. He attended North Vernon High School. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and racing.
Surviving with his wife of 49 years are his mother, Alice Nichols of North Vernon, Indiana; three sons, Robert (Frances) Leonard Jr., Kevin (Kathie) Leonard and Jeffery (Patti) Leonard all of North Vernon, Indiana; a sister, Barbara Jean (Ivan) Scroggins of Franklin, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Addie (Travis) Redicker of Cullman, Alabama, Josh, Scottie, Kayla, Kasey and Jesse Leonard and Audra Lawdermilt all of North Vernon, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan Redicker both of Cullman, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Horton officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home. There will be a Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Dove Release after the Funeral.
Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to Hospice of Jennings County, The American Cancer Society and North Vernon Church of Christ.
Helen Lee Littrell
Helen Lee Littrell, 83, of Commiskey, Indiana passed away peacefully at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 22, 2009 at her home in Commiskey, Indiana where she had lived her entire life.
Mrs. Littrell was born on September 29, 1925 in Jennings County, Indiana, the daughter of Edward and Ethel Morin Utzinger. She married Hugh Thomas "Popeye" Littrell on March 15, 1946 in Bedford, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1998.
Mrs. Littrell was a homemaker. She was a 1942 graduate of Paris Crossing High School. She attended Hanover College for 2 years. She was a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church. Her hobbies included gardening and quilting.
Survivors include four sons, Tom (Kathy) Littrell of Scipio, Indiana, Alan (Tina) Littrell of North Vernon, Indiana and Don (Paula) Littrell and Marty (Sharon) Littrell both of Commiskey, Indiana; four daughters, Jan (Charlie) Fugate of Cannelton, Indiana, Jean (Ron) Zohrlaut of North Vernon, Indiana, Edna (Jim) Clarkson and Dot Acton both of Commiskey, Indiana; a sister, Mildred Glant of Breman, Indiana; Twelve grandchildren and Twenty-Two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 from 9:00 till 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Tea Creek Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to the Tea Creek Cemetery Maintenance Fund or Hospice of Jennings County.
Louise Hancock
Louise Hancock, 83, of North Vernon, Indiana passed away at 6:32 a.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Bloomington, Indiana.
Mrs. Hancock worked in Housekeeping at Columbus Regional Hospital retiring in 1975. After retiring she became a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of Queensville Community Church in Queensville, Indiana. Her hobbies included gardening, working in flowers and quilting.
Born July 11, 1925 in Whitley County, Kentucky she was the daughter of John and Rhoda Durham West. She married Elmer Hancock on April 15, 1944 in Corbin, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1979.
Survivors include one son, Elmer (Linda) Hancock of Scipio, Indiana; two daughters, Maxine (Joe) Southern of Bloomington, Indiana, Marjorie (Doug) Singleton of Columbus, Indiana; two sisters, Lois Eads of Hamilton, Ohio, Carrie (Jess) Hauddleston of Rockhold, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Gregory Hancock of Scipio, Indiana, Julie Ann Hancock of Manchester, Tennessee, Alicia (Heath) Harrison of Columbus, Indiana, Jamie (Casey) Southern and Jana Southern both of Bloomington, Indiana; four great-grandchildren, Alexander and Alexis Southern both of Bloomington, Indiana, Rachel and Heath Harrison both of Columbus, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Ray Hancock on December 25, 1946; five brothers, Scott, Ancil, James, Rosco and John West, Jr.
Funeral Services will be conducted on 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ramey and Heath Harrison officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. till service time. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jennings County, Indiana.

Olive Marie Perkins
Olive Marie Perkins, 82, of Butlerville, Indiana passed away at 7:04 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009 at her residence.
Mrs. Perkins was born on May 10, 1927 in Butlerville, Indiana. She was the daughter of Thomas and Elsie Cathy Laherty. She married H. Dean Perkins on November 22, 1946 in Butlerville, Indiana. He survives.
Mrs. Perkins worked for 10 years at First National Bank in North Vernon as a teller. Prior to this she worked at Jennings County Welfare Department for 15 years. She was a member of Butlerville Baptist Church where she was Pianist and taught Sunday school for several years. She was active in the Republican Party serving on the election board, The Republican Women's Club. She was a former member of Butlerville Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a Star Point and Organist.
She graduated in 1945 from Butlerville High School. Her hobbies included reading and working crossword and word search puzzles playing piano, remolding old homes and family time.
Surviving with her husband are, one daughter, DeAnn (George) Moore of Butlerville, Indiana; one sister, Ada Shutters of Butlerville, Indiana; two grandsons, Josh (Katie) Yeager of North Vernon, Indiana and Jeremy (Robin) Yeager of Butlerville, Indiana; three great grandchildren, Sierra Moore and Amber Yeager both of North Vernon, Indiana, and Brittany Yeager of Butlerville, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Michael Dean Perkins on July 10, 1980, a sister, Vera Olson.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 21, 2009 from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and one hour prior to service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Kenneth Owens
Kenneth Owens, 79, of Commiskey, Indiana passed away at 10:38p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Indiana.
Mr. Owens was born on February 24, 1930 in Russell County, Kentucky. He was the son of Milford and Lucy Belle Robertson Owens. He married Joy Ann Simmons on January 12, 1957 at the Coffee Creek Baptist Church in Jennings County, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 19, 1988.
Mr. Owens worked for 12 years in maintenance at the Hawkeye Hills Horse Training Center in Commiskey leaving in 1997. Prior to this he had worked for 30 years at Vernon Summer Furniture (Swing Factory) retiring in 1985. He sang in his family quartet. He enjoyed growing flowers, trees and gardening, watching birds, building birdhouses, and being outdoors.
Survivors include two brothers, Dallas G. (Irene) Owens and Calvin Glen (Regina Ann) Owens both of Russell Springs, Kentucky; four sisters, Rose Flonnie Short, Fredia Owens, Lily Fern Ritchie and Molly Fay Bolin all of North Vernon, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Elvis Owens; two sisters, Frances Shepherd and Flossie Knight.
Graveside Services will be conducted at Coffee Creek Christian Cemetery in Paris Crossing, Indiana on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev's. George Resse and Phillip Miller officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana from 11:00 a.m. till 12:45 p.m.
Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility or for Funeral Expenses.
Melissa Kaye Reynolds
Melissa Kaye "Missy" Reynolds, 33, of Milan, Indiana passed away at 3:26 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, Indiana.
Mrs. Reynolds was born on August 1, 1975 in Jennings County, Indiana she was the daughter of David A. and Judy Kaye Mitchell Hartwell. She married Paul Reynolds on February 23, 2007 in Versailles, Indiana. He survives.
Mrs. Reynolds was a homemaker. She was a member of Am Vets Post #7 in North Vernon, Indiana and The American Legion #235 in Milan, Indiana. She attended Jennings County High School. Her hobbies included flowers, watching Colts football and NASCAR, and collecting angels and frogs.
Surviving with her husband are her parents; step-father, Gary Hamel of Butlerville, Indiana; three sons, Brent McMillan of North Vernon, Indiana, Orin and Thomas Johnson, both of Milan, Indiana; a step-son James Reynolds of Milan, Indiana; step-daughter, Makayla Stallard of North Vernon, Indiana; two sisters, Laura Hamel of Butlerville, Indiana, Cassie (Doug May) Hamel of Brownstown, Indiana; a step-brother, David Hartwell of North Vernon, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Bible officiating. Friends may call on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home for expenses.
Pamela Sue Briner
Pamela Sue Briner, 53, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mrs. Briner was born on August 24, 1955 in Seymour, Indiana. She was the daughter of Frank and Georgenna Canfield Green. She married Charles Briner on December 16, 1972 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He survives.
Mrs. Briner worked for 10 years at Bosma Industries for the Blind until 1986. She was Homemaker. She enjoyed making crafts.
Surviving with her husband are one son, Dustin Fitzpatrick of Indianapolis, IN; one daughter, Jessica (James) Bauer of Straudsburg, PA; one brother, Ward Fitzpatrick of Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Mary Blakley of Winnipeg Ontario, Canada; five grandchildren, Seth, Jesse, and Donica Bauer all of Straudsburg, Pa, Brylan and Millie Fitzpatrick both of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth Fitzpatrick; sisters, Ida Fitzpatrick and Georganna Still.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2009 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home on Monday, May 18, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Baldwin Cemetery in North Vernon, Indiana.
