Clarence "Geno" Kennedy, 80

Clarence "Geno" Kennedy, 80, of Rushville, passed away on June 16, 2009 at his home.

Geno was born June 13, 1929 in Rushville to Clarence and Jesse (Gross) Kennedy. He married Dolores E. "Nanny" Hornaday on January 15, 1954, she preceded him in death on December 17, 2006.

He worked over 20 years with PR Mallery in Rushville. He also worked at Schnadig Corp., State Highway & Vibration Eliminator. He was a member of the Rushville Eagles Lodge and was a US Army veteran.

He leaves behind Sons; Bruce, Jeff & wife Leca, Tim & wife Lisa and Brad Kennedy, all of Rushville, daughter; Angie Kennedy of Rushville, Sister; Edith Beard of Rushville, 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother; Wilford.

A funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19 at Moster Mortuary. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4 until 8 Thursday, June 18.

Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemtery where Military graveside rites will be observed.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Hancock County.

Connie S. McEvoy, 52

Connie S. McEvoy, 52, Holton passed away Monday June 15, 2009 at her home.

She was born in Charleston, S.C. on Feb. 23, 1957, the daughter of R. Keith and Pauline Weintraut Smith. She was married to Stephen McEvoy on Feb. 14, 1989 and he survives.

Other survivors include her mother, Pauline Smith, Shelbyville; four sons, Mark McEvoy, Holton, Kris (Danielle) Swain, Holton, Mike McEvoy, Napoleon, and Tom Ogden, Indianapolis; one daughter, Mindy Bowling, Indianapolis, seven grandchildren; four sisters, Lynda (Darrell) Curson, Bloomington, Valerie (Terry) Coen, Morristown, Teresa (Roger) Moore, Waldron, and Marcey (Jimmie) McCoy, Louisiana; three brothers, Jim (Diana) Smith and Clifford (Pam) Smith, both of Waldron, and Jeff (Cheri) Smith, Greensburg.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. McEvoy was a 1975 graduate of Waldron High School and was a 25-year employee of Print Pak in Greensburg.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 18 at the Stratton-Kaster Funeral Home in Versailles with the Rev. Karen Reynolds of the New Marion Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood.

Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Betty Lou Owens, 89

Betty Lou Owens, 89 of Rushville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at Millers Merry Manor in Rushville.

Betty was born Oct. 15, 1920 in Rush County to Curtis and Ethel (Wilson) Geise. She married George W. Owens on Oct. 26, 1941 and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1996. Betty lived her entire life in Rush County.

She worked at International Furniture, the school cafeteria in New Salem, 30 years at the New Salem grain elevator and retired as branch manager with the New Salem Farm Bureau Co-op. She was a member of Little Flatrock Christian Church, Andersonville OES, 50 years member of the Nobel Niters Home Ec Club, a 1938 graduate of New Salem School and received the Rush County Ellie Award. Betty was an avid gardener and always enjoyed and took great pride in her church, community, family and friends.

She leaves behind: her daughter, Connie (Edward) Meyer of Rushville; granddaughters Carole Sue (Steve) Geis of Greensburg, Rebecca Jayne (Frank) Schonfeld of Fountaintown, Sarah Beth (Mike) Volk of Batesville, Amy Jo Meyer (Chris Ploger) of Rushville; and eight great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by: brothers Richard and Harlan “Tom” Geise; and sisters Esther Leisure and Ruth Turk.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Pastor Patrick Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Little Flatrock Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Flatrock Church Cemetery Fund through the Rush County Community Foundation or the Little Flatrock Christian Church.

Stanley G. Reed, 78

Stanley G. Reed, 78, of Greensburg passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

He was born on May 11, 1931 in Greensburg to George and Sylvia Wilson Reed.

He married Elizabeth Parker on September 11, 1955.

Mr. Reed was a 1949 graduate of Greensburg High School.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954.

He then attended Indiana Business College in Columbus.

He is a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church where he served as head usher for over 20 years and a member of the American Legion Post 129.

Stanley managed and was Secretary of Decatur County Farmers Mutual Insurance from 1958 to 1979.

He then opened and was co-owner of Reed Insurance Agency with his wife until 1996.

He was past president of Mutual Insurance Companies Association of Indiana for 2 years.

Served on State Insurance Association Board of Directors for 4 years, and served on Board of Directors at Greensburg Savings and Loan/ First Federal Savings and Loan for 29 years.

He coached youth baseball which included coaching his son and grandson for a number of years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, boating, and watching basketball games (especially I.U.) and many other sporting events.

Survivors include: his Wife- Elizabeth, Daughters - Jan (and John) Proctor of Morristown, Brenda Reed of Greensburg, Son - Mark (and Lois) Reed of Fort Worth, Texas, Grandchildren- Matthew Hanmer of Greensburg and Ashley Reed of Fort Worth, Texas, Sisters- Dorothy (and Harold) Seibel of Greenfield, Roberta Hartwell of Columbus, Carolyn (and Danny) McBride of Carmel, Billie (and Jerry) Williams of Carmel, Nephew but raised as a Brother- Larry Bilby of Tucson, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Parents, and Sisters- Mary Alice Wainscott and Betty Wells. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 30 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. Rev. Jimmy Moore will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be held by the American Legion Post 129 and the VFW Post 5584.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of Decatur County or to the Greensburg United Methodist Church.

Debra A. Mathews, 53

Greensburg - Debra A. Mathews, 53 of Rushville, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2010 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 1 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31 at the mortuary.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Toys for Tots.

Mary Ann Bruzzio, 78

Greensburg - Mary Ann Bruzzio, 78, of Basalt, CO passed away Mar. 28, 2010. She was born October 7, 1931 in Greensburg to Frank and Clara Krieger.

Bruzzio is survived by her sons Kevin and Alan Bruzzio, daughter Debbie Fortin and five grandchildren.

Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Services will be Tuesday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Crown in Carbondale, CO.

Vernon G. Marsh, 83

Vernon G. Marsh, 83, of Greensburg passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010.

He was born on March 27, 1927 in Ripley County to G. Edwin and Lillie Marsh.

He graduated from New Point High School in 1945 and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a Flight Engineer.

He was married to Wilma Jean Barnes on April 21, 1946 in Greensburg, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2000.

He was married to Mary Carol (Bate) Probst on Oct. 14, 2001, and she survives.

He worked as a farmer and a craftsman throughout his working life.

He was a master carpenter who spent much of his career building homes in the local area.

He also built furniture, including grandfather clocks, as well as crafting custom gun stocks.

He enjoyed being an outdoorsman, participating in hunting and trapping as well as spending time in nature with his family.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union, the New Point Masonic Lodge and a 70-year member of Sandcreek Baptist Church, where he served as an ordained deacon.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Minon Marsh-Stepp (Rocky) and Nyna S. Bailey (Ernie), Greensburg; his granddaughter Miranda Maxwell (Jason), Greensburg; his grandson Joshua M. Bailey (Elizabeth), Greensburg; his great-grandson Jack Maxwell and his brother Marion W. Marsh, Greensburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Lee and Dallas Marsh and his sisters Eileen Ewing, Gene Piles, Clara Harvey and Mable Jackman.

Visitation will take place from 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Sandcreek Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandcreek Mission Team or the Gideons.
