Bessie L. Wilson
Services for Bessie L. Wilson, 92, formerly of 2626 George St., Apt. 516, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pisgah Cemetery.
She died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 1999, in Chase Center.
Born May 21, 1906 in Cass County, she was the daughter of William and Mary Elizabeth Sagers Hopper. She was married Dec. 5, 1923, in Logansport to Wilbur W. Wilson who preceded in death on Feb. 17, 1979.
She was a retired Logansport Community School Corporation employee. She attended the Grace Fellowship Church.
Surviving are four daughters and one son-in-law, Evelyn Hartoin and Faye Wilson, both of Rt. 1, Macy, May Kumler, 119 W. Linden Ave., and Norma and Jack Winter, Walton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Timothy and Martha Wilson, 633 Tanguy St., and Eugene Wilson, Logansport; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Five sisters and four brothers preceded in death.
No calling hours will be held.
The Rev. William Art Maloney will officiate the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Heart Fund, P.O. Box 21, Logansport, IN 46947.
McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Arlene M. Sutton
GREENWOOD -- Services for Arlene M. Sutton, 83, of Indianapolis, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pierre Funeral Services & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel.
Mrs. Sutton died Saturday, April 3, 1999, in Regency Place.
Born Jan. 27, 1916, in Union City, she was the daughter of Glen and Marie Hall Golaycq. On June 11, 1933, she was married to Lowell M. Sutton, who died April 13, 1991.
Mrs. Sutton was the owner of Arlene Sutton Realty on Indianapolis’ south side and the owner and operator of Kamper Korner Campground on the Indianapolis south side for several years. She also farmed with her husband for several years in southern Marion and Johnson counties.
She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church.
Surviving are three sons, Clyde E. Sutton, Niceville, Fla., David L. Sutton, Galveston, and Max E. Sutton, Campbellsvillecq, Ky.; two daughters, Marianne S. Windgate and Linda G. Keller, both of Indianapolis; one brother, Orlan Golay, Lewisville; two sisters, Esther Kochersoergercq, Centerville, and Reatacq Snedegarcq, Bloomington; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Joanne Sutton, preceded in death.
The Revs. Ken Arnold and Craig Tucker will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, White River Township.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Parkinson’s Association, Riley Hospital for Children and Gideons International.
Helen Sailors Richter
Services for Helen Sailors Richter, 87, of 3901 High Street Road, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Ninth Street Christian Church.
Mrs. Richter died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 9, 1911, in Monticello, she was the daughter of Donald and Merl Hoover Wickersham. On Dec. 15, 1934, she was married to Amiel Sailors, who died Aug. 6, 1957. On Nov. 25, 1968, in Logansport, she was married to Bryon Richter, who died June 18, 1978.
A homemaker, Mrs. Richter was a member of Ninth Street Christian Church.
She also was a member of Fidelity Chapter 58 Order of Eastern Star and the Clinton Township Extension Homemakers Club.
Surviving are one daughter, Elaine Bittinger and her husband, Marvin, Carmel; one brother, Dale Wickersham and his wife, Betty, Logansport; two grandsons, Lowell Bittinger, and his wife, Karen, Fishers, and Chris Bittinger and his wife, Tricia, Bloomington; and two nephews, Tom Wickersham and Jim Wickersham, both of Logansport.
One son, George Sailors, preceded in death.
The Rev. James Beaumont will officiate at the services. Burial will in St. John Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home and one hour before the services Wednesday in the church.

Ruth L. McCormick
PERU -- Graveside services for Ruth L. McCormick, 82, of 305 Keller Ave., North Judson, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.
She died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 1999, in ExtendaCare of Winamac.
Dr. E. Dean Fager will officiate at the services.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday in Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

Ruth A. Madsen
KEWANNA -- Ruth A. Madsen, 92, of Winamac, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday in Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.
Arrangements are pending at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.
Naomi Hizer
ROCHESTER -- Services for Naomi Hizer, 79, of 5650S 575W, Kewanna, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Foster & Good Funeral Home.
She died at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2000, in Woodlawn Hospital, where she had been a patient for two weeks. She had been in failing health for the past two months.
Born July 11, 1920, in Fulton, she was the daughter of Gerry and Jessica Parks Apt. She was married Dec. 24, 1939, in Fulton, to Frank M. Hizer, who died June 4, 1994.
Mrs. Hizer was a homemaker and assisted her late husband in the operation of the family farm. She also had worked for the Hart Schaffner & Marx Corp. in Rochester for over 20 years as a supervisor.
She had been a lifelong resident of the Kewanna and Grass Creek communities in Fulton County.
Mrs. Hizer had attended the Fulton Baptist Church in Fulton.
She was an avid knitter and enjoyed all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Darla S. and James Mattice, Waynesville, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerry M. and Cheryl Hizer, Kewanna; six grandchildren, Kim Mooreman, Minneapolis, Minn., Darrell Fearson, Dayton, Ohio, Kristin Scherer and her husband, Robert, Troy, Ohio, Brett Hizer and his wife, Kimberly, Kewanna, Scott Hizer and his wife, Candi, Kewanna, and Chera Robbins and her husband, Kevin, Logansport; eight great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Olive Herrold, Grass Creek, and Margaret Showley, Fulton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death are three sisters, Lola Faye Apt, who died in infancy, Irma Drudge and Bernice Severns; and two brothers, Dale and John Apt.
Burial will be in Grass Creek Cemetery, southwest of Rochester in Grass Creek.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Cancer Society and Woodlawn Home Health Care.
Dorothy E. Hedde
Services for Dorothy E. Hedde, 93, of Harbor Terrace Retirement Home, San Pedro, Calif., formerly of Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. James Lutheran Church.
She died Tuesday, April 4, 2000.
Born Sept. 18, 1906, in Washington Township, Cass County, she was the daughter of Jesse and Mary Whisler Yeakley. She was married to Victor J. Hedde, a retired Logansport Police Sergeant, who passed away in 1986.
Mrs. Hedde was formerly on the news staff at the Pharos-Tribune and later engaged in marketing research.
She was a very active member of St. James Lutheran Church for many years. More recently, she was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in San Pedro, Calif.
She had been a resident at Harbor Terrace Retirement Home for the past four years.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, J. Douglas and Connie Hedde, Torrance, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth A. and Louis Kelley, Boulder City, Nev.; three grandchildren, Douglas Hedde Jr. and his wife, Lindy, Torrance, Calif., Marc Hedde and his wife, Cheryl, Laguna Hills, Calif., and Kimberly L. Kelley, Brentwood, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren, Avery, Connor, Logan and Caitlin Hedde.
The Rev. Marvin R. Hinkle will officiate at the services. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Clinton Township.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday in Kroeger Funeral Home, and one hour before the time of services Saturday in the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church in Logansport and to a favorite charity.
Margaret Joan Beasley
Graveside services for Margaret Joan Beasley, 68, of Country Trace Health Center, Indianapolis, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Mount Hope Cemetery.
She died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born April 1, 1932, in Cass County, she was the daughter of Arthur L. and Ruth Sleek Denny.
Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Omer M. and Bertha Denny, Peru; and one nephew, John Townsend, Liberty.
There will be no visitation.
Fisher Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Daniel J. Baldwin
PERU -- Graveside services for Daniel J. Baldwin, 54 days old, of 75 N. Water St., will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Mount Hope Cemetery.
He died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at his residence.
The Rev. Jay McCawley will officiate at the services.
There will be no visitation.

Richard D. Irven
WINAMAC -- Services for Richard D. Irven, 70, of 1315 Ewing Road, Rochester, formerly of Winamac, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Frain Mortuary.
He died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2000, at his son’s home, 5202 Willow St., Bellaire, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His son was by his side.
Born Sept. 30, 1929, in Jasper County, he was the son of Frank and Mabel Cox Irven. He was married July 10, 1949, in Winamac, to Mary Irene Spurgeon, who died April 11, 1987.
Mr. Irven graduated from Pulaski High School in 1947. He and his wife, Mary, ran a grocery store in Frankfort for one year before he was drafted into the Army. He served 18 months in Germany during the Korean conflict as a cook and butcher.
After service, Dick did his undergraduate work at Manchester College and later finished his master’s degree at Indiana University. Together, Dick and Mary raised their son, Thomas Richard Irven, who was born in 1959.
Mr. Irven spent 33 years in the Eastern Pulaski School Corporation as a teacher and the Director of Guidance. He retired in 1984. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed helping students with their future college and vocational plans.
For fun, Dick enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, and other projects around the house. His family and friends meant the most to him.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Winamac. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 262 F&AM, American Legion Post No. 71 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1728, all in Winamac, and the National Educators Association.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas R. and Krystal Irven, Bellaire, Texas; and two sisters, Georgia Irven, Lafayette, and Marjorie Vizza, Berwyn, Ill.
One brother, Keith Irven, preceded in death.
The Rev. William Mathys will officiate at the services. Burial, with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 71 and VFW Post No. 1728, will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Friday in the mortuary.

Noel D. ‘Danny’ Gerard
PERU -- Services for Noel D. "Danny" Gerard, 63, of 16 W. Franklin St., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
He died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
The Rev. Jim Reynolds will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park in Cass County.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Tyler Austin Melton
Services for Tyler Austin Melton, 1, of 115 Seventh St., will be held at 11 a.m. today in Fisher Funeral Chapel.
He died at 9:24 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2000, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 15, 1998, in Logansport, he was the son of Jonathan and Rebekah Steele Melton, both of whom survive.
Also surviving are two brothers, Jonathan J. Melton III and Matthew Lee Melton, both of Logansport; maternal grandparents, Ricky Ray Steele, Logansport, and Casper and Emma Ben, Logansport; maternal great-grandparents, David and Pearl Maxwell, Portland; paternal grandfather, Raul Madrigal, Walton; and several aunts and uncles.
His paternal grandmother, Nita Madrigal, preceded in death.
Friends may call one hour before the time of services today in the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Ethel Dora Mohler
WALTON -- Services for Ethel Dora Mohler, 91, of Chase Center, Logansport, formerly of Walton, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Murray Funeral Home, Walton Chapel.
She died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000, in Chase Center, Logansport.
Born March 26, 1908, in Miami County, she was the daughter of Lee and Mary Foster Amos. She was married June 13, 1925, in Miami County, to Ivan Mohler, who died June 4, 1984.
Mrs. Mohler was a homemaker, having attended Bunker Hill High School.
She was a member of Deacon Grange and attended Walton Christian Church.
She enjoyed flower gardening.
Surviving are two daughters, Juanita Downhour and Evelyn Richardson, both of Logansport; one brother, Weldon Amos, Anderson; five grandchildren, Greg Downhour, Cheryl Ellis, Tanya Shelton, Melody Scull and Lori Handy; and nine great-grandchildren, Liam Scull, Matthew Handy, Jodi Hood, Kim Ellis, Brian Gaillard, Stacey Shilts, Carmen Gaillard, Michael Handy and Kristin Scull.
Three brothers and three sisters preceded in death.
The Rev. John Garrison will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

WINAMAC -- Rose Frances DeGroot, 87, of State Road 8 East, Knox, died at 6:25 a.m. Thursday in Wintersong Village.
