Marjorie Elizabeth Moenter (nee Young), age 88 years of Batesville, IN passed away Monday, December 6, 2004 at her daughters home in Terre Haute, IN.

born November 20, 1916 in Milhousen, IN the daughter of George Washington & Catherine (Hamer) Young. She was married to Edward Bernard Moenter. She and her husband ran Margies Grill in Batesville for many years. She was also publicity chairman for the Fritz Turner Band, Past President of Eagles Auxiliary 1130, Batesville VFW Auxiliary & American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Moenter is survived by her daughter Virginia French of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren Tina Wautelet, Sonya Fischmer & Edward French. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her grandson Nelson French; sisters Louise Reifel, Mildred Miller & Marie Rehberger and brother Irvin Young.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 9, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St. Louis Church in Batesville, IN with Fr. Alan Hirt officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 PM with rosary at 6:30 at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Burial will be in St. Louis Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Area 7 Council on Aging.

Martha Elizabeth Hartman

Martha Elizabeth Hartman, age 90 years of Morris, IN passed away Sunday, December 5, 2004 at The Waters of Batesville.

born February 22, 1914 in Morris, IN the daughter of Francis & Elizabeth (Amberger) Weisenbach. She was a former nurses aid and homemaker. She marrie John M. Hartman on November 20, 1937.

Mrs. Hartman is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Ann Stenger and son John A. Hartman both of Morris, IN she will also be missed by 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Hartman; sister Roumilda Burkhardt; brothers Aloysius, Fr. Raphael O.F.M., Edward, Louis & Victor Weisenbach.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 10, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony Church in Morris, IN with Msgr. Bernard Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Burial will be in St. Anthony Church Cemetery, Morris, IN. Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Church Cemetery.

She is the daughter of Jeffrey & Stephanie (Cooley) Thomas of Batesville. Maternal Grandparents are Paul & Patricia Burkhart of Batesville, IN and Paternal Grandparents are Bennie & Louise Thomas Jr. of New Point, IN. She is also survived by her brother Royce Cooley and aunts and uncles.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Rossburg Cemetery in New Point, IN with Pastor Mark Vice officiating.

Emanuel Ray Cox, 76, of Peppertown, IN died Sunday, October 31, 2004 at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. born June 27, 1928 in Corbin, KY to Seldon E. and Eva Hazel (Miller) Cox. He married Esther Abshear in Connersville, IN on December 24, 1945. In 1992, after 46 years, he retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Connersville, IN. Mr. Cox was a member of the First Baptist Church of Laurel, the Laurel Lodge #447 F&AM;, the NRA & IUE Local 919.

Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, one daughter - Jeanette (Joseph) Cox-Mills of Cincinnati, OH; 3 grandchildren - Joseph Mills Jr., Wendy Barger & Rachel Scott Mills; 2 great grandchildren - William Michael Barger and Ashley Noel Barger; 1 brother - Guy Cox of Watsonville, CA; and 2 sisters - Alma Kelley of Corbin, KY & Joyce Mae Roberts of TN.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Linda Lou Cox; 2 brothers Stanley & Opal Cox; and 3 sisters Shirley Brantley, Frances Cox & Christine Bingham.

Visitation Thursday, November 4, 2004, 11am -1pm followed by funeral services at 1pm all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Masonic Services will be at 10:30am. Pastor Rob Edwards officiating with burial at the Peppertown Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Peppertown Cemetery or the Alzheimer's Assoc.

Althoff, Russell Lee, age 87 years of Bright, IN passed away Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Miami Haven Nursing Home in Cleves, OH.

born November 20, 1916 in Cincinnati, OH the son of Clara Althoff & Scott Carpenter. He married LaVerne Sickmeier on August 4, 1944 and she preceded him in death in 1979.

He was a member of Bright Christian Church and worked for B&O; Railroad.

Mr. Althoff is survived by his sons Gary (Linda) Althoff of Chesapeake, VA and Robert (Cookie) Althoff of Harrison, OH. He will also be missed by his 6 grandchildren Lee Ann Rinck, Allison Deater, Jennifer Althoff, Matthew Althoff, David Decker & Carrie Decker and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his sister Velma Begley.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3, 2004 from 9:00 am-11:00 AM followed by services at 11:00 AM all at Bright Christian Church in Bright, IN with Minister Mark Fugate officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate, KY. Memorials are suggested to the church.

Walter David Neal, age 55 of Dublin, GA formerly of Bright, IN passed away Saturday, October 30, 2004 in Atlanta, GA.

born October 4, 1949 in Cincinnati, OH the son of Thomas W. Neal & Laura Grace (Field) Wright. He was a Middle School Teacher at Twiggs County Middle High School for 20 years.
He graduated from Evansville College and received his masters at University of Georgia.

Mr. Neal is survived by his siblings Thomas Neal of Manhattan Beach, CA; Lonnie (Joyce) Black of Cincinnati, OH; Rosemary Clinard of Tucson, AZ; Victoria Bain of Dothan, AL; Mary (Dennis) Cormican of Bright, IN; Donna (Jack) Dole of Harrison, OH; Lenna (Bradley) Bentle of Lawrenceburg, IN and Shirley (Bill) Sanders of Kettering, OH; 15 nieces, 14 nephews and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by is brother Kenton (Tina) Black of Miamitown, OH and his sister Mary Ann Neal.

Funeral Services will be Friday, November 5, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Bright Christian Church in Bright, IN with Minister Mark Fugate officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 PM at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cleves, OH. Memorials are suggested to the Walter D. Neal Scholarship Fund c/o the funeral home.

Mrs. Wonning is survived by her husband James Wonning, sons Gary Wonning of Sarasota, FL and Paul Wonning of Batesville, IN; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Emma Wessel.

Funeral Services will be Friday, October 29, 2004 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church Crossroads with Pastor Robin Owen officiating. Visitation will be Thurs. from 6-8 PM at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, IN. Burial will be in St. Paul Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

born March 13, 1954 in Cincinnati, OH the son of Louis & Evaleen (Howson) Benevengo. He married Nancy E. Sizemore on October 11, 1985. Mr. Benevengo graduated in 1972 from WHHHS, was a Sergeant in the US Marine Corp. during Peacetime and retired in 2004 from Cincinnati Inc. as a machinist.

Mr. Benevengo is survived by his wife Nancy E. Benevengo, sons Marvin “Butch” Louis Benevengo and Tommy J. Benevengo both of Harrison, OH; parents Louis & Evaleen Benevengo of North Bend, OH; grandson Austin Benevengo of Harrison, OH; sisters Jeanette (Eddie) Allender of Harrison, OH; Theresa (Ollie) Pies of North Bend, OH; Ann (Todd) Koenig of W. Harrison, IN and Joan (Nathan) Redding of Bridgetown, OH and brothers John (Barbara) Benevengo of Delhi, OH and Robert (Jeanette) Benevengo of W. Harrison, IN. He was the son in law of Lendon & Ruth Sizemore of Metamora, IN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Guardian Angel Church in Cedar Grove, IN with Fr. Patrick J. Beidelman officiating. Military services by the American Legion and VFW Funeral Detail will follow. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8PM at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Memorials are suggested to Dearborn County Hospice.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband Jeff Brown, children Carmon Jeffrey Jr. (Angel) Brown of Morris Hill, IN; Jason Randall Brown of Dillsboro, IN and Craig Buchanan “Buck” Brown of Morris Hill, IN; parents Rufus & Evelyn King of W. Harrison, IN and grandchildren Megan Brown & Trenton Gridley. She was preceded in death by her sister Diane King.

Visitation will be Monday, October 24, 2004 from 5 - 8 PM at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison, OH. Services will be Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at 10:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Winston Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family.
