Ruth J. Schwartz
Mrs. Ruth J. (Wickey) Schwartz, age 58, of Pleasant, died on Sunday, August 30th, 2015, at 11:37 a.m. at her home.
Ruth entered this life on July 1st, 1957, in Berne, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of Jacob J. and Rosina R. "Rosie" (Schwartz) Wickey. She was raised in Berne, Indiana and had resided in the Pleasant community since 1988. She received her education and was of the Old Order Amish faith. She was lovingly cared for by her family until her death.
Ruth is survived by her husband: Sam J. Schwartz of Pleasant; her sons: Amos R. Schwartz and Benjamin R. Schwartz of Pleasant; her mother: Rosina R. "Rosie" (Schwartz) Wickey of Pleasant; her sisters: Mattie Wickey and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Wickey of Pleasant; her brothers: Jerry Wickey, Amos Wickey, Reuben Wickey, Harvey Wickey, Andy Wickey, Eli Wickey, Rudy Wickey, and Simon Wickey - all of Pleasant; and Jake Wickey of Owingsville, Kentucky. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father: Jacob J. Wickey; her grandparents: Jacob D. and Elizabeth Wickey, Reuben E. and Mattie Schwartz; her daughter: Rebecca Schwartz, who died February 15th, 1994; her sisters: Mary and Emma Wickey; her nephew: Ben K. Wickey and her several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, September 2nd at the Sam J. Schwartz residence, 7871 Scotts Ridge Road Madison, Indiana, 47250.
Interment will follow in the Old Order Amish Cemetery in Pleasant.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st, at the Sam J. Schwartz residence.
Marian Coonce
Marian Margaret Coonce 81, passed away on August 31st, 2015.
She was born on October 22nd, 1933 in Covington, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Suter and Louise (Bond) Agee. She was a secretary for the family business, Coonce Electric, for 40 years, retiring in 1999.
Marian is survived by her husband: Charles D. Coonce, Jr.; a son: Charles D. "Chuck" (Liz) Coonce, III; and by a brother: Ken Agee. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Melissa (Andrew) Neal; Christine (Tim) Guimont; and Charles D. "Bud" Coonce, IV; and her great-grandchildren: Matthew and Bennett Neal and Harrison and Henry Guimont.
Memorial services will be held at Feeney- Hornak Keystone Mortuary, 2126 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8th, with a gathering a half-hour prior to service.

Mary Bernice Hatton
Mary Bernice Hatton, 85, of Dillsboro, Indiana, (formerly of Aurora), passed away at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25th, 2015 at The Waters of Dillsboro.
Mary Bernice was born in Switzerland County on January 1st, 1930, the daughter of the late Sarah Jane (Buchanan) and James Stewart. She was raised in Switzerland County and was a 1948 graduate of Vevay High School.
Mary Bernice last worked as a bank teller at Peoples Savings and Loan in Aurora, retiring in 2004. She also worked several years for the Aurora Middle school as a librarian. When she was still able, she was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Aurora, where she enjoyed working with the children's programs; being in the choir; cleaning the church; and even groundskeeping.
Mary Bernice also enjoyed cooking, drawing and craft projects; working on the farm; and taking care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and made the uniforms for her daughter's high school basketball team. She was also a talented singer and member of the Sweet Adeline's musical group. Mary Bernice was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed.
Mary Bernice is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Cleeter, of Dillsboro; by two sons: Michael "Mike" (Patty) Hatton, of Rising Sun and Richard Hatton, of Aurora; by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and by sisters-in-law Dorothy Stewart of Florida and Marie Stewart of Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by brothers: George and James Stewart.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 28th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Reverend Frank Forthman officiating. Friends were invited to call on Thursday, August 27th, at the funeral home. Burial was at Pleasant Cemetery in Pleasant.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Aurora or the Alzheimer's Association.
Gerald H. Bell
Gerald H. Bell, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, August 25th, 2015 after an illness.
He was born on March 28th, 1932 in Patriot, and resided in California. He served in the United States Army Corps (Reserve), and was honorably discharged on July 1st, 1961.
He retired from Delco Remy Plant 11 a division of General Motors, after 36 years of employment. He was a life member of the Elks American Lodge #209; Fellowship Lodge #681 and AMVETS Post #0026.
Survivors include his sister: Vivian Joan Prater of Anderson; and three children: Lynn (Bell) Becker of California; Tracy (Bell) Gallo and her husband Robert Gallo of California; and Gary and wife Cenee Bell of California. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Chad Becker, Rachel Fiore, Shayna Becker, Benjamin Becker, Lauren Bell and Grant Bell of California; and a stepson: Andrew Valdez of California.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Gerald I "Pete" Bell and D. Marguerite (Smith) Bell; a sister: Lola Eileen Endebrock; and a brother: William T. Bell.
A special thanks to VNA California Hospice team (Visiting Nurse Association) for their care and dedication.
Cremation services will take place.
A memorial service will take place at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gallo, 22765 Montanya Place, Murrieta, California, 92562.
Dr. James K. Danglade, Jr.
Dr. James K. Danglade, Jr., Ph.D., of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 25th, 2015, at the age of 78.
He was born on May 5th, 1937 to James K. and Helen (Protsman) Danglade. Dr. Danglade was awarded a Ph.D. in History from Ball State University in 1972. He was employed by Ball State University for 43 years as a counselor, assistant professor of history, and university administrator, retiring as Associate Dean of the College of Continuing Education.
Upon retirement, Dr. Danglade, as Professor Emeritus, continued teaching in the prison programs he helped to create.
He is survived by his daughter, Annette Danglade (Douglas) Swetnam of Fishers; his son, John (Shelia) Danglade of Fishers; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 29th, at 1 p.m. at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 7330 Woodland Drive, Suite 201, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46278; or Animal Rescue Fund (ARF), 1209 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, Indiana, 47303.
Tammy Robinson
Tammy R. Robinson, 53, of Rising Sun, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at her residence.
Tammy was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, on January 7th, 1965, the daughter of Kathy (Myer) Kelly and the late Harry Henson. She attended Rising Sun High School and was a member of the Rising Sun United Methodist Church.
She was the wife of Garrett L Robinson. On March 4th, 1983, they were married at the Rising Sun United Methodist Church.
Tammy was a kind spirit, loved by all who encountered her. Tammy was a loving wife and mother and took great pride in providing for her family. She enjoyed gardening and canning what she grew. Tammy also liked to cook, bake and make homemade candies. She took pleasure in outdoor activities and fishing. Spending time with her grandchildren and her family was her greatest joy.
Tammy is survived by her husband, Garrett L. Robinson, of Rising Sun; by her mother Kathy Kelly (John), of Paris, Tennessee; by a daughter, Cassie Lengerich (Cody), of Rising Sun; by a son, Adam Robinson, of Rising Sun; by her grandchildren: Izabella and Oliver Lengerich; by three sisters: Holly Hunefield, of Aurora, Indiana, Darla Mahoney (Jim), of Cincinnati, Ohio and Crystal Jackson, of Aurora, Indiana; and by a brother, David Henson (Tina), of Florence, Kentucky.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, April 18th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Brother Nathan Pelehowski officiating. Friends were invited to call on the family on Tuesday, April 17th, at the funeral home. Burial was at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Ohio County Public Library, where Tammy was a devoted patron or Rising Sun Church of Christ. Cards are available at the funeral home.
Norma Jean Carrigan
Norma Jean Pendry Carrigan of Rising Sun passed away on April 9th, 2018.
Jean was the only child of Charles Edgar and Edna Pendry who preceded her in death. She was born October 19th, 1928 in Rising Sun, and was married to Dean Carrigan on September 15th, 1948.
Three children were born to this union: Michael Dean was born on June 2nd, 1951 and he is married to Susan Walker Carrigan. They have two sons, Dean Alexander and Ross Michael. Dean is married to Stacy Howard Carrigan and they have two children: Bennett and Blakely. Ross is married to Emily Ann Daniel Carrigan and he and his wife have two children: Hyatt and Everly.
Children Bonnie and Frank Edward are twins who were born on September 29th, 1954. Bonnie is married to L.A. (Larry) Olsen and they have no children together. Frank is married to Kathryn Thibodeau Carrigan and they have two children: Caitlin Joan (Cait) and John Michael (Jack).
Jean graduated from the Rising Sun High School, Class of 1946. She took part in many of the activities while in school and started playing clarinet in the school band even before she was in high school. After graduating from high school she worked at A.D. Cook in Lawrenceburg for several years and then worked for Schenely Distilleries in Lawrenceburg. She worked very hard for the Democrat party and served as President of the Democratic Women’s Club of Ohio County for several years. She also was an active member of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority.
Her husband received a promotion requiring the family to relocate to New Jersey. She took the move in stride and found work as a dental assistant. She retired from that job at age 50 to do some traveling with her husband. His job required traveling, which provided the opportunity to visit many cities in Europe and in the United States. Her father’s health was failing and he came to live in her home, where she provided care for the last 10 years of his life. After her father’s death and the children were out of the house the family moved to Toledo, Ohio, because of job requirements.
She had always been interested in cards and was an excellent bridge player and belonged to several card groups in places where she lived. Late in life, she took up golf and played very well. She surprised several more experienced golfers with her skill and scored a hole in one while playing golf in Toledo. She provided excellent guidance for her children and made a pleasant home for all to enjoy. She was in charge of the finances for the family and did a fine job with that as well.
After her husband’s retirement the family moved back to Rising Sun and enjoyed many years of retirement. Later her health began to fail and she suffered several strokes, causing her to spend her remaining days in Shady Nook Care Center in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and more recently, The Waters of Rising Sun.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8th at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, with Eldon Fancher officiating. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Ohio County Historical Society. Cards are available at the funeral home.
Floyd ‘Jesse’ Leatherbury
Floyd J. “Jesse” Leatherbury, age 81, of Vevay, died at 4:40 p.m. on Monday, April 16th, 2018, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.
Jesse entered this life on January 6th, 1937, in Vevay, the son of the late, Harvey A. and Gertrude (Courtney) Buchanan-Leatherbury. He attended school in Vevay, and resided in the Groveland, Florida community for several years.
Jesse was employed for Bluegrass Shows in Jackson, Mississippi from 1972-1982; and for High Acres in Groveland, Florida for several years.
Jesse is survived by his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harvey A. Leatherbury, who died on October 5th, 1966 and Gertrude (Courtney) Buchanan-Leatherbury, who died on December 2nd, 1951; by his half-brother, Elvan E. Buchanan, who died on January 28th, 1972; and by his half-sisters: Effie Wall, Flora Dolan and Louise Mahoney May.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, April 20th, at 1 p.m., by Brother Jeremiah Haynes at the Vevay Cemetery. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.
