Wanda Christman
Wanda Lee (Scudder) Christman, age 88, of Vevay, passed away at 6:47 a.m. on Monday, April 9th, 2018, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
Wanda entered this life on October 26th, 1929, in Bennington, the loving daughter of the late Hilbert Sr. and Elsie Edith (Shadday) Scudder. She was raised in Switzerland County, and was a 1948 graduate of the Vevay High School.
Wanda was united in marriage on April 6th, 1950, at the Bennington United Methodist Church in Bennington, to Clyde William “Bill” Christman, and to this union arrived four children to bless their home. Wanda and Bill shared 68 loving years of marriage together until her death.
Wanda was employed for the U.S. Shoe Factory and for the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay. She was also employed as an attendant for Muscatatuck State Hospital near Butlerville, Indiana; and as a qualified medication aide for the Madison State Hospital in Madison. Wanda was a member of the Bennington United Methodist Church in Bennington. Wanda resided most of her life in the Switzerland County community and enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, Florida, where she resided for 20 years. Wanda also enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning and will be deeply missed by her loving family.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Clyde William “Bill” Christman of Vevay; her daughter, Kathy Covington and her husband Danny of Vevay; her sons: Keith Christman and his fiancée Tara Richmond of near Canaan, Indiana and Kevin Christman of Jeffersonville, Indiana; her daughter-in-law, Terrie (Sutton) Christman of Madison; her grandchildren: Matt Christman and his wife: Jessi, Tyler Christman, Bethany Christman, Lisa Ahluwalia and her husband Shilpi, Leslie Covington, Erica Soule and her husband Lucas, Erin Jackson, Lacey Johnson and her husband Jake, and Dustin Christman and his wife Megan.
She will also be dearly missed by her great-grandchildren: Sierra, Clayton, Connor, Henry, Lucian, Harper, Addison, Keagan, Kourtney, Gabriel, Ashlynn, Nathaniel, Kylie, Danielle, Maria, Luke and Hillary; by her great-great-granddaughter, Ana; her sister-in-law, Roberta (Woolums) Scudder of Vevay; and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Hilbert Scudder, Sr., who died on April 21st, 1970 and Elsie Edith (Shadday) Scudder, who died on July 31st, 1969; her son, Kenneth W. Christman, who died on October 22nd, 1973; her grandsons: Benjamin Covington and Nathan Paul “Nate” Christman, who died on September 3rd, 2017; her great-granddaughter, Alexis Gail Jackson; her sister, Muriel Blodget, who died on July 28th, 1990; and her brother, Hilbert “Hibbie” Scudder, Jr., who died on October 5th, 2017.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 12th, 2018, at 1 p.m., by Pastor Bill Madison at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Cemetery, Pleasant, Indiana.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, April 12th, at the funeral home.

Reverend John Scudder
Reverend John Scudder, age 90, of East Enterprise, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 8th, 2018, at the Waldron Health and Rehab Center in Waldron, Indiana.
John entered this life on January 6th, 1928, in Switzerland County, the loving son of the late James Ora and Bessie (Reed) Scudder. He was raised in Switzerland County, and was a 1945 graduate of the Vevay High School.
John was inducted into the United States Army on June 12th, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during World War II. John earned the World War II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class on May 28th, 1947, at Fort Lawton, Washington.
John was united in marriage to the love of his life, Paulina Sigmon on July 3rd, 1949, at the Long Run Baptist Church in Moorefield. This happy union was blessed with a daughter, Susan and a son, Dennis. John and Paulina shared 66 loving years of marriage together until Paulina passed away on July 2nd, 2015.
John was employed as an edge trimmer for the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, for four years. He was employed in 1953 for the Indiana State Police Department as a trooper for 13 years, detective sergeant for nine years and first sergeant for seven years. John retired in 1983 after 29 years of service.
John earned his pastoral degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. Reverend John served as a minister from 1985-2013 for the Holton United Methodist Church in Holton, Indiana; Fairview United Methodist Church; Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church; and for the East Enterprise United Methodist Church. He was a Southeastern Indiana board member for the SCIOC and served on the merit board for the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department and was a faithful member of the East Enterprise United Methodist Church.
John was one of the beginning organizers of ‘Harmony and Hymns’ on Tuesdays at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and was faithful until his health no longer permitted. John was passionate about the American Red Cross and had a very giving spirit and was a dedicated donor. John will be remembered for his love of reading and gardening and will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.
Reverend John is survived by his son, Dennis Alan Scudder and his wife Rachel of Shelbyville, Indiana; his daughter, Susan Diane Alexander and her husband Rodney of Mesa, Arizona; his grandchildren: Michael Alexander, Claire Scudder and Laura Scudder; and his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James Ora Scudder, who died on March 8th, 1990 and Bessie (Reed) Scudder, who died on May 20th, 1975; by his wife, Paulina (Sigmon) Scudder, who died on July 2nd, 2015; his brother, James Earl Scudder; his sister, Marjorie Stivers; and his infant sister, Mary Hazel Scudder.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 13th, 2018, at 11 a.m., by Chaplain Daniel Coffey at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043.
Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay Ameri

George Marsh
George Robert Marsh, age 64, of Moorefield, died on Thursday April 5th, 2018, at his residence.
George entered this life on October 16th, 1953, in Jefferson County, Indiana, the son of the late Melvin E. and Edith (Moore) Marsh. He was raised in Switzerland County, and attended Vevay High School.
George enjoyed farming and construction work and resided most of his life in the Moorefield community. George enjoyed riding his motorcycles and riding and working with his horses.
George will be loved and deeply missed by his numerous cousins; and by his uncle, Larry Marsh of North Vernon, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Edith (Moore) Marsh; by his step-mother, Anna Marie (Farrell) Sedam Marsh; his first cousin, Charles David Ashby; and several aunts and uncles.
No services are being held. Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay is assisting the family at this difficult time.

Linda McDole
Linda Lou McDole, age 55, of Vevay, passed away at 3:55 a.m. on Thursday, April 5th, 2018, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.
Linda entered this life on August 8th, 1962, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Gilbert Douglas and Emma Lee (Hankins) McDole. She was raised in Bennington, and was a 1980 graduate of the Switzerland County High School.
She attended Ivy Tech Community College in Madison, and earned her Administrators License in Indianapolis, Indiana. Linda was employed as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit for Carroll County Memorial Hospital and Green Valley Nursing Home in Carrollton, Kentucky. She was also employed for Silver Bell Nursing Home in Versailles, Indiana and Jackson’s Senior Citizen Home in Vevay.
Linda was a member of the Vevay Tri Kappa and Christian Missionary Alliance in Aurora, Indiana. Linda resided in Aurora, Indiana and in the Vevay community since 1978. Linda enjoyed reading, crocheting and horseback riding.
Linda will be deeply missed by her brothers: Robert McDole of Vevay and Paul McDole of Vevay; by her sister, Debbie Bamberger of Aurora, Indiana, and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Douglas and Emma Lee (Hankins) McDole; her brother, David Luther McDole, who died on April 4th, 2011; and her sister-in-law, Linda Joyce (Hash) McDole, who died on June 22nd, 2012.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 9th, 2018, by Reverend Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Friends were invited to call on the family on Monday, April 9th, prior to the beginning of the services at the funeral home.

Ronald Lee Day
Ronald Lee "Pee Wee" Day, age 78, of Madison, Indiana, died on Monday, August 17th, 2015, at 11:45 a.m. at the Kentuckiana Medical Center in Clarksville, Indiana.
Ron entered this life on October 11th, 1936 in Vevay. He was the loving son of the late Armand "Happy" and Naomi Mary (Monroe) Day. He resided in Switzerland County until the age of nine, when the family moved to Manville. He was a 1954 graduate of Central High School and a member of the Manville Christian Church since the age of 12.
On November 10th, 1956 he was united in marriage to Jo Carolyn Leach at the Manville Christian Church by Brother Bob Tandy. This happy union of nearly 59 years was blessed with three daughters: Debbie, Trina and Ronda; and a son, Terry.
Ron retired from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 631. He also had owned and operated Ron Day's Body Shop for 10 years. Pee Wee had worked in various auto body shops throughout his self taught career. Pee Wee was a member of the Clifty Swingers Square Dance Club; had served as president of the Clifty Creek Saddle Club; and served as a pony express rider for the Canaan Fall Festival for seven festivals. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles; being a stock car and late model race-car driver; riding and training horses; hunting; fishing; square dancing; hunting trips out West; being a self-taught mechanic and a "Jack of all trades". Pee Wee was an avid story teller, jokester and enjoyed making sure everyone around him had a good laugh. But most of all Pee Wee was a devoted husband, loving dad, grandpa and brother.
Ron will be missed by his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Jo Carolyn Leach Day of Madison; his loving daughters: Debbie Day Long and her husband, Frank of Madison; Trina Day Copeland and her husband, Gary of Canaan; and Ronda Day Leffler and her husband, Jeremy of Corydon, Indiana. Also by his loving son, Terry Day and his wife of Madison; his loving brother, Tommy Day and his wife, Lois of Madison; his loving sister, Jeanie Green of Madison; and by his loving grandchildren: James Erik Long (Beth), Britt Anthony Copeland, Brienne Corrina Copeland, Kayla Lynn Brawner, Brady Patrick Brawner, Tracy Lynn Day Ault (Brian), Nicholas Casey Day and Michelle Koontz Bear (Nate); by his loving great-grandchildren: Henry Kristopher Long, Dylan Elijah Long, Chandler Lee Hutchinson, and Sophia Ann Bear; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armand "Happy" and Naomi Mary Monroe Day; and his nephew, Bobby Day.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 21st, 2015, at 11 a.m., by Pastor Richard Jankowsky at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison. Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m.; and on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre.

Edward A. Weyrich
Edward A. “Bud” Weyrich, 79, of Vevay, passed away Monday, January 17th, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
He was born November 30th, 1925, in Cincinnati, the son of Edward D. and Clara A. (Joehnk) Weyrich, who both preceded him in death.
He was raised in Cincinnati and graduated from Western Hills High School in 1943.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army on January 31st, 1944, and rose to the rank of sergeant. He studied Chinese at Yale University and served as an interpreter in World War II in the HQ and HQ CO USF China Theater. He was honorably discharged June 5th, 1946.
He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal World War II.
He was united in marriage to Janet Lois Stephenson March 28th, 1947, in Cincinnati.
Unto this union a son and a daughter arrived to bless their home.
He was employed with the Kroger Company in the Greater Cincinnati District for 34 1/2 years, working as a manager of several stores.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, bowling, his children and grandchildren.
He loved baseball, especially the Cincinnati Reds, and had played on the Cincinnati Reds Farm Team early in life. He resided in Delhi for many years, moving to Switzerland County 22 years ago.
When living in Delhi he was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.
After moving to Vevay he became a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Weyrich of Vevay; his son, Steven Edward Weyrich and wife Kim of Kettering, Ohio; his daughter, Sandi Kidwell and husband Jack of Florence; his sister, Helen Juergens of Cincinnati; his grandchildren, Christopher and Brian; his adopted grandchildren, Lauren and Melissa Kinne; his great-granddaughter, Lilli; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, January 20th, by Reverend Howard Wade at Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay.
Burial was in Vevay Cemetery with full military honors conducted at the graveside by Vevay American Legion Post 185 and Vevay VFW Post 5396.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Switzerland Baptist Church or Special Olympics.
Michael Hensley
Michael Douglas “Mike” Hensley, 53, of near Vevay, passed away Thursday, January 13th, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Louisville.
He was born August 23rd, 1951, in Covington, Kentucky, the son of Richard Thomas and Beverly (Parsons) Hensley.
He was a 1970 graduate of Dixie Heights High School in Crestview, Kentucky.
He was inducted into the U.S. Navy on August 12th, 1970, serving his country in the Vietnam War.
He was honorably discharged on May 12th, 1976.
He was later inducted into the U.S. Army on March 3rd, 1981, and honorably discharged on June 30th, 1995.
After his retirement from serving his country he was a dispatcher for Cisco Systems in Seattle, Washington, until moving to Vevay in May, 2004 to be closer to his family.
He enjoyed computers, scuba diving, fishing and cross country skiing.
Survivors include his parents, Richard and Beverly Hensley of Vevay; his sister, Connie Wright and husband Carl of Vevay; and his brother, Gary Hensley.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 16th, by Reverend Charles Dayadharum at Haskell and Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay.
Burial was in Vevay Cemetery with full military honors conducted at the graveside by Vevay American Legion Post 185 and Vevay VFW Post 5396.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
James Adams
James Brian “Jimmy” Adams, age 60, of Bennington, died on Saturday, March 31st, 2018, at 2:00 a.m. at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
Jimmy entered this life on December 18th, 1957 in Scottsburg, Indiana.
He was the son of the late James Edward Adams and Edna Miles Adams Lamb.
He was raised in Dupont and Austin, and graduated from Southwestern High School and the Vocational School at Versailles.
He was united in marriage to Judy Ann Lackey on September 9th, 2007 in Fairbanks, Alaska.
He had owned and operated Adams Construction and Roofing and was a self employed driver.
He had been a member of the Knightstown Bethel Holiness Church, the Milton Wesleyan Church, and the Austin Pilgrim Holiness Church.
Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and carpenter work.
In his earlier years he enjoyed playing the guitar.
He resided in Fairbanks for 11 years and moved to Bennington in March 2011.
Jimmy will be missed by his loving wife, Judy Ann Lackey Adams of Bennington; his son, Brian Adams and his wife Brandy of Salem, Indiana; his grandchildren: Ethan Adams, Mikayla Adams, Cayden Coleman, Aidan Coleman, and Peyton Farmer; his sister, Patty Smith and her husband Bill of North Vernon, Indiana; his half sisters: Jeni Lamb Hatchell and her husband Corey of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Felicity Lamb and her companion JJ Elam of Vevay; his uncle, Doug Adams and his wife Susie of Greenwood, Indiana; his aunt, Jean Miles of Madison; his sister-in-law, Deborah Lackey of Seeleyville, Indiana; his brothers-in-law: James Lackey and his wife Cindy of Green Cove Springs, Florida, and John Lackey of California; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Adams; his mother, Edna Miles Adams Lamb, who died on December 4th, 2017; and his step father, Jakie J. Lamb, who died on May 3rd, 2005.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, April 5th, 2018, at 11 a.m., by Pastor Mike Brown at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison.
Friends were invited to call on the family on Wednesday, April 4th, and also on Wednesday, April 5th prior to the service at the funeral home.
