Jane McQueen
Jane McQueen, 81, a Brazil and area resident most of her life, died suddenly at 1:43 p.m. Jan. 27, 1998, in Sebastopol, Calif., where she was visiting her sister.
She recently began residing at the Westminster Village in Terre Haute.
Born Oct. 17, 1916, in Lena, she was the daughter of the late Orman and Doris Reinoehl Kettering. She was a graduate of Van Buren High School and the Methodist Hospital of Nursing in Indianapolis.
For 12 years she was a registered nurse for the Clay Community School Corp., and was the first of her profession to hold that position.
An active member of the First United Methodist Church of Brazil, she also belonged to the church’s United Methodist Women organization, Wesley Circle, and was W.W.U. adult Sunday school teacher.
Other affiliations were the Nightingale Society, Clay County R.N. Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, educational sorority; Clay Civic Memorial Foundation, the Diabetic Association, Child Welfare Club, and Historical Society.
On Nov. 28, 1939, she married Orman McQueen, a Brazil realtor and abstractor. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1996.
Also preceding were three sisters, Betty Aker, Helen Marie Troth, and Frances Kettering; and a brother, Jack Kettering.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ricke R. and Mary McQueen of Martinsville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jane Ann and Dan Robbins, and Kay Beth Harper, all of Brazil, and Marla and Dr. Ed Keppler of Marion; one sister, Pat Schoch of Sebastopol; one brother, Donald Kettering of Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren and spouses, Greg and Ann Hayes, Scott and Jennifer Hayes, Jennifer and Dean Dickison, Angela, Shaye, and Eric Harper, all of Brazil; Brad and Katie McQueen, Melissa McQueen, and Jeff and Jill Smith, all of Indianapolis; and Matt, Brett, Laura, and Lezley Keppler, all of Marion; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Jump, assisted by Pastor Don Bixby, officiating. Burial will be in Calcutta Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Miller Memorial Chapel, and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church.

Betty L. Mager
Betty L. Mager, 69, of Indianapolis and formerly of Brazil, died April 20, 1998 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Ind.
Born Aug. 11, 1928 in Brazil, she was the daughter of Charles and Verna May Moy Pittman. She was the owner and operator of M and B Carpet Service in Indianapolis for 30 years and retired in 1995.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mager and her parents.
She is survived by five sons, Mike, Mark and John Mager of Indianapolis and Guy and Kim Mager both of Greenwood; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Pittman of Brazil and Jim Pittman of Bedford and two sisters, Susie Miller of Ohio and Dee Price of Brazil.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home in Indianapolis with burial in Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Elsie Kellems
Elsie Kellems, 81, a long time resident of Jeffersonville, died April 22, 1998 in Westminster Health Center in Clarksville.
Born Aug. 27, 1916 in Birdseye, Ind., she was the daughter of Dennis and Mary Ann Kellems.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jeffersonville for 50 years and visited family and friends in Brazil for many years, until illness occurred.
Surviving her are, Rev. Edward and Barbara Randall, Susan Sneddon, and Julie McLaughlin of Brazil; Philip Randall of Bloomington and other cousins.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday and friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
Esther Viola Haltom
Esther Viola Haltom, 78, of Spencer, died April 21, 1998, at the Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 4, 1919, in Owen County, she was the daughter of William P. and Mary Evans Rubeck.
On Nov. 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Albert J. Haltom, who survives.
She worked at Eli Lilly during World War II, and managed Cardinal Inn Restaurant from 1959 to 1980.
A member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, she was a vice president of the Ladies Aid, church trustee, and was the oldest member of the church; 67 years. She was also a member of Carp Homemakers.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryan Haltom; two sisters, Kayle Keefover and Evelynne Mary Rubeck; and one brother, Dale William Rubeck.
Also surviving are two daughters, Deanna Collins and Shirley Shirey, both of Spencer; one son, Edward William Haltom of Spencer; one sister, Ivah Mae Jones of Plainfield; two brothers, Wilbur Ray Rubeck of Gosport, and Robert Evans Rubeck of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 N. Montgomery St., Spencer. The Rev. L.C. Rudolph will officiate. Burial will be in Hudson Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to time of service on Friday.
Stephen W. Fuetter, 48, of Palatka, Fla. and formerly of Brazil, died April 23, 1998 at Orange Park Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla.

Robert C. King
Robert C. King, 88, of 2711 Virginia Ave., Connersville, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Fayette Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 26, 1910, in Little Falls, Wash., the son of Samuel and Jane Little King.
He was a retired car salesman and farmer. He was employed for many years at the former Hillman Brothers Ford in Brookville and later opened his own used car dealership in Brookville. He moved from Brookville to Connersville in 1986. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrison, Ohio, and had attended Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo C. Baker King, whom he married Jan. 2, 1931; a sister, Elsie Haas of Harrison, Ohio; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert C. King Jr. in 1976; and five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville with the Rev. Malcolm Greene officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Brookville. Friends may call Thursday from noon until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
Linda Ruth Ricks
Linda Ruth Ricks, 60, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 21, 1939, in Fayette County, the daughter of George Heber and Mildred Hobson Oldham.
She was married on Sept. 2, 1962, to the Rev. Carl A. Ricks, who survives.
She was a graduate of Alquina High School, Asbury College and Indiana University-South Bend. She was an elementary school teacher and also taught at Ancilla Junior College in Plymouth, Ind. She taught two years in Budapest, Hungary, as a missionary teacher for O.M.S. International.
She was a member of United Methodist Temple in Lakeland, Fla.; and a director of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Simone R. Ricks-Jones of Lake in the Hills, Ill., and Sharon R. Langford of Temperance, Mich.; a son, Stephen A. Ricks of Indianapolis; two sisters, Naomi Kaminski of, Squim, Wash., and Eleanor Frazier of Winter Haven, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church in Washington, Ind., with the Rev. Valarie Foughty-Killion officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Gill Funeral Home in Washington, and Thursday after 12:30 p.m. at the church.
Mary Lucile Strohmier
Mary Lucile Strohmier, 77, of Brookville died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, at Oxford View Nursing Home in Oxford, Ohio.
She was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Franklin County, the daughter of Elmer and Florence VanAusdal Suhre.
She lived most of her life in Franklin County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Whitcomb Friendly Neighbors Home Ec Club.
On Jan. 10, 1946, she married Dale Strohmier, who survives.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Karen Strohmier of Indianapolis and Joyce Hokey of Brookville; four sons, Richard Strohmier, Gary Strohmier and Daryl Strohmier, all of Brookville, and Brian Strohmier of South Bend; a brother, Robert Suhre of West Harrison; and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepmother, Alma Suhre.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home in Brookville with the Rev. Gary W. Anderson, pastor of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
