William F. Boggs
He was a native of Harlan County, the son of Darrel and Elizabeth Boggs of Lexington.
He retired from the Fort Knox Community School Corp. after 32 years, and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors besides his parents include his wife, the former Jane Roark; two daughters, Pam Wate of Elizabeth and Kelly Boggs Miller of Rineyville; a sister, Anne Scott; and a grandson.
The funeral was Saturday, Oct. 7, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with burial in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. William Twyman officiated.
Horace M. Smith
He was a native of Crawford County; a former employee of the New Albany/Floyd County School Corp.; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of American Legion Post 42.
Survivors include his wife, the former Catherine M. Smith; a son, Thomas M. Smith of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter, Paula K. Metcalf of Jeffersonville; two sisters, Sylvia Lindig of Georgetown and Nadine King of New Albany; and two grandchildren.
The funeral was May 8, at Kraft-Royse Generations Funeral Home in New Albany with burial in Galena Cemetery.
Donald E. Lowe Sr.
A native of New Salisbury, born March 5, 1943, he was the son of the late Charles William Sr. and Edna Mosier Lowe.
He was a Navy veteran; a self-employed owner and operator of Lowe's Concrete and Water Proofing of New Albany; and a member of Harvest Temple Church in New Albany.
Survivors include three sons, Donald Eugene Lowe Jr. of Clarksville, and Mark and Tommy Lowe, both of New Albany; two brothers, Charles William Lowe Jr. of Louisville and Rodney Roudenbush of New Albany; two sisters, Melba Jacobs of New Albany and Janice Bray of Florissant, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service was Monday, Oct. 9, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra. The body was cremated.
Anna Yenowine
A native of Orange County, born Aug. 5, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Sarah Fancher Martin. She assisted in the operation of Yenowine Garage at Edwardsville.
Survivors include a brother, Milford Martin of Richmond, Va.; and a sister, Emma Martin of Paoli.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 11, after 8 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in Edwardsville Cemetery.
Lewis J. Miller Jr.
He was born Dec. 24, 1924 in Harrison County, son of the late Lewis Sr. and Cleo Colvin Miller.
Miller, a Democrat, served from 1961 to 1967 on the Harrison County Board of Commissioners and later on the Harrison County Council.
During that time, James C. (Jake) Watson of Corydon served as treasurer and was elected to the board of commissioners following Miller's term. His wife, the late Ruth Watson, also served as auditor.
"I was a friend of his, practically all of his life," said Watson, 86, formerly of Central. "He was a nice person."
Former council-chair Peter J. Schickel of Lanesville also knew Miller well, during his service on the council and previously. "I always found him to be really dedicated and trustworthy, and he used a good, common-sense approach on different issues," he said.
Miller had been hospitalized several weeks before undergoing heart by-pass surgery in late September. He had remained in intensive care and on a respirator until he died of complications, the family said.
Miller was a retired employee of Smith Transfer Co. in Louisville, member of the board of directors of the Harrison County Farmers Mutual Insurance Co., a member of the Southern Indiana Horse and Mule Association, a past Grand Knight of the Harrison County Council of the Knights of Columbus, owner of the old Wagon Wheel south of Elizabeth, and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church at Buena Vista.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Iona Ernstberger, sons Terry, Steven, Jeffery, Dale, John and Scott Miller, all of Elizabeth; daughters Regina A. Brown of Laconia and Joan Kingsley and Susan May, both of Elizabeth; a brother, Walter (Bill) Miller of Elizabeth; two sisters, Thelma Robinson and Catherine Miller, both of Elizabeth; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Bishop Gerald Gettlefinger and Father Louis Manna will officiate.
Visitation is Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home and Friday morning after 8. The Rosary will be prayed Thursday evening at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial gifts to St. Joseph School in Corydon or the Gibault Foundation, P.O. Box 2316, Terre Haute, IN 47802.
Lucille A. Brazil
She was the owner of the old Brazil Lakes and Swim Club in Georgetown.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Friday, Oct. 6, at Kraft Funeral Service in New Albany with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial gifts to Hospice & Palliative Care of Southern Indiana or Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany.
James R. Frakes
A native Corydon, born Sept. 29, 1912, he was the son of the late James and Leona Pearl Lohmeyer Frakes.
He was a farmer and a member of Williamsburg Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, the former Catherine Rhoads; a son, Jim Frakes of Williamsburg; two daughters, Phyllis Horner of Fountain City and Linda Birch of Brookville, Ohio; a brother, Henry Frakes of Corydon; three sisters, Irma, Zola and Mary Frakes, all of Corydon; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Saturday, Oct. 7, at Williamsburg Church of the Nazarene with burial in Willow Grove Cemetery. The Revs. Steven Bohall and Ross Kirkman officiated. Smith and McQuiston Funeral Home in Fountain City handled the arrangements.
