Edward Bednarek, age 82, of Hegewisch, IL, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2002. He is survived by a son, Alan CPD (Therese CPD) Bednarek; a sister, Carol (late Dominic) Caporale and two grandsons, Jeff and Brian. Preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, two brothers, Steve Bednarek and Albin (Reggie) Bednarek and a sister, Sophie (late John) Jamrock.

Services will be held Monday, November 4, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. from the Opyt Funeral Home, 13350 Baltimore Ave. Chicago, to St. Columba Church for 9:30 a.m. Mass. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, 2:00 to 9:00 P.M. Mr. Bednarek was retired from Pullman Standard in Hammond and was a WWII Navy Veteran.

John Dominick, age 83, late of Chicago. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine Dominick. Dear Father of Rose (John) Szimakowski and the late Lorraine Susanne Dominick. Fond grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of five. Retired employee of Allied Chemical. Visitation Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Claude E. Griesel Mortuary, 10240 S. Betty J. Edstrom
Hobart

Betty J. Edstrom, age 82, of Hobart, passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 30, 2002. Betty and her husband Ed worked the Odell-Smith Jewelry business together. Through the years they enjoyed dining in the company of good friends in many restaurants. Betty was preceded in death by her son, Dean "Butch" Edstrom. Survived by her husband, Ed Edstrom of Hobart; one daughter: Iris (Jack) Jensen of Montana three grandchildren: Chris (Kristin) Pedersen of Alaska, Bill Pedersen of California and Dawn (Albert) Dunn of Alaska; and numous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burns Funeral Home (Hobart) (corner of Rt 51 and 7th Street) on Saturday from 3:00 to 6:30 P.M. There will be a Eulogy conducted by Joe Pisione on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 6:30 P.M. Services will terminate at the Burns Funeral Home. According to Betty's wishes, interment services on Monday at Graceland Cemetery will be private.

Geraldine C. Fennema
Lansing

Geraldine C. Fennema, age 76, of Lansing, IL passed away on Friday, November 1, 2002. Survived by husband, Bud (Albert); son, Larry (Eva); daughters, Bonnie (Charles) Olentine and Amy (fiance, Brian Hackert) Fennema; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Munster Christian Reformed Church, Hohman and Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana, Reverends Herman Schutt and Lugene Bazuin officiating. Burial, Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing, IL. Friends may visit at the Schroeder- Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL on Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the New Leaf Resources, 2325 -177th St., Lansing, IL in Mrs. Fennema's memory.

Clyde Fields

Clyde Fields, age 80, of Porter, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, IN. Born in Bentleyville, Pennsylvania on December 24, 1921 to the late Jesse and Eva Capehart Fields. Married Nov. 24, 1946 in Bentleyville, PA to Melva Phennicie who preceded on March 14, 1994. Survived by daughter: Virginia (David) Miller of Frankfort, IN; sister: Zelma Wright of Bentlyville, PA; four grandchildren: Bethany (Mike) Cole of Greenfield, IN, Jonathan Miller of Frankfort, IN, Andrew (Natalie) Miller of Monticello, KY and Paul Miller of Frankfort, IN; five great-grandchildren. Also preceded in death by brother, Howard Fields and sister, Edna.

Funeral services Monday, November 4, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Mitchell officiating. Cremation, Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN with interment of ashes at Furnessville Cemetery. Visitation Monday, November 4th, from 4:00 P.M. until time of service at 7:00 P.M. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.

Mr. Fields was an area resident for 40 years. He was a bricklayer and stone Mason. Retired in 1980 from U.S. Steel. Member of the Audabon Society, Indiana Archaeological Society, Dunes State Park Image Makers and a Charter member of the Duneland Rock Club. Mr. Fields was also a volunteer for the National Lakeshore.

Ronald W. Forsythe
Kentucky / Northwest Indiana

Ronald W. Forsythe, age 63, of Benton, Kentucky, formerly of Earl Park and Northwest Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2002 at his home. Survived by his wife, Patricia. Sons: Kenny (Suzie) Bergman, Ronald (Shannon Snyder) Forsythe, Scott and Ricky Forsythe. Daughters: Tammy Forsythe, Lori (Chad) Krick and Rebecca (Richard) Mack. Stepson: David Garrett. Stepdaughters: Lori Tykol and Mary Bower. 21 grandchildren; brother, Edward (Linda) Forsythe and sister: Deborah (Bill) McNamara. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Nell Forsythe and by his sister, Barb Knudson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 12:00 Noon, at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with John P. Starr officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Visitation on Saturday, November 2nd, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon, at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave. (one mile south of Rt 30), Schererville, IN.

Mr. Forsythe worked as a laborer with Local 41 for 10 years, and he worked for the Boilermakers Local 374 for 20 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. For information please call (219)365-9554

Betty L. Graham, age 72, of Munster, formerly of Hessville, Dyer, Phoenix, AZ and Glendale, AZ, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the Munster Med-Inn. Mrs. Graham was born on December 2, 1929 in Buckeye, TN, the daughter of the late Leonard and the late Ruth Harris. Mrs. Graham is survived by two sons, William E. Jr. (Debra) Graham of St. John, David Scott (Pamela) Graham of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Elaine (Dennis) Aker of Hammond and Kathy (Terry) Shadley of Portage; two brothers, Charles (Pauline) Harris of Beverly Hills, FL and Carl (Donna) Harris of Longmont, CO; two sisters, Lucy (Glen) Cox of Phoenix, AZ and Marilyn (Charles) Clark of Winchester, TN; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Alan, a brother, Donald Harris and her very special friend, Don.

Friends may call on Sunday, November 3, 2002 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. A memorial service will take place Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Kenneth Svehla, Pastor of the Church of God, Downers Grove, will officiate.

Mrs. Graham was employed by Saint Margaret Mercy Hospital, Dyer, The Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus, Merrillville, K-Mart, 35th Ave. and Greenway, Phoenix, AZ, as well as Frye's Supermarket, Phoenix, AZ.
