Gary L. Koontz
Newburgh resident Gary Lee Koontz died March 3 at his residence. He was 61.
Gary was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. He was a member of Local #136. He was retired from Industrial Contractors.
Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Jan Lampher.
Gary is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pam Koontz, of Newburgh; two sons, Michael Koontz, of Newburgh and Joseph, and his wife Lee Anne Koontz, of Evansville; grandchildren: Kellsie, Quinten, Zack and Nathan; a sister: Donna Hankins, of Thorntown; four brothers, Richard Koontz of Thorntown, David Koontz of Bloomington, John Koontz of Lebanon, Steve Koontz of Lebanon; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Thursday March 6, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Reverend Ernest Stair. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, in Newburgh American Legion Kapperman Post #44 conducted military rites at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Vista Care Hospice.
G. Marie Allen
Boonville resident G. Marie Allen died Friday, April 18 at Woodmont Health Campus in Boonville with her family at her side. She was 95.
Marie was a member of the Main Street General Baptist Church in Boonville for 63 years, joining in 1940. She taught the Fanny Crosby Sunday School Class, was a member of the church choir for over 50 years and the Ladies Chorus of the Church and was a member of the Harmeyer Missionary Circle. Marie was also a member of Sinawik, Young at Heart and the Busy Bee Home Ec Club.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Allen in 1988; a son, Lidwell Allen in 2002; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Allen in 1990.
Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Dick Anderson and son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Dixie Allen, all of Boonville; six grandchildren, Steve Anderson and his wife, Susan; Debbie Emmons and her husband, Dan; Karissa Boyd and her husband Brian, all of Boonville; David Allen and his wife, Bonnie of Georgetown; Katrinka Ashby and her husband, Jack of Folsomville; Kolleen Stuteville and her husband, Robin of Chandler; 16 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Orner Clay and Lois Belt of Indianapolis and nieces.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at Koehler Funeral Home-Boonville Chapel with Rev. Dwight Bland and Rev. Kevin Morris officiating. Burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorial contributions be made to the Main Street General Baptist Church in Boonville.
Larry P. Hart
Boonville resident Larry P. Hart died Tuesday, June 3 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was 48.
Larry was a 1972 graduate of Boonville High School and attended training for Underground Mines at Wabash Community College. Larry had formerly worked for Sigeco as a lineman and for 18 years worked for the City of Boonville as an electrician and lineman. He also worked for Allied Electric in Evansville a short time. Larry was a real estate agent for Emge Citizens Realty. During his illness, he attended Ivy Tech studying Integrated Robotics and attaining a grade point average of 4.0.
Larry was a certified Private Pilot, flying his own plane. He enjoyed sky diving, scuba diving, swimming and all water sports. He was an avid jogger and enjoyed participating in sports with his special son, Brandon. Larry was a member of Strangers Rest Masonic Lodge #240 F & AM.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dan W. Hart, in 1998.
Larry is survived by his fiancee, Angie Scales and their son, Brandon Scales, both of Boonville; a son, Jonathan Hart of Boonville; his mother, Ruby Hart of Boonville; a sister, Diane Clark of Troutdale, Ore.; a brother, Lorne Hart of Newburgh; one nephew, Kevin Clark; two nieces, Lacey Jane Hart and Kail E. Bline; and his baby girl cocker spaniel, Julie.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7 at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel with Rev. John Swain and Rev. Kevin Morris officiating. Burial followed in Freedom Cemetery near Boonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Deaconess Ohio Valley Hospice.
Barbara Killion
Boonville resident Barbara J. Killion died Thursday, June 5 at Baker's Rest Haven in Boonville. She was 77.
Barbara was born Dec. 3, 1924 to George Moody Vincent Spear and Bessie Marie Clem Spear in Vigo County. She was a member of Maryland Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Cecil E. "Bud" Killion.
She is survived by one son and his wife, Mark Everett and Anita Killion of Hillsdale; one daughter and her husband, Cathy and Jack L. Sheridan of Midway; two sisters, Virginia Black of Anaheim, Calif., and Alice Taylor of Fort Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren, Mark Killion, Jr., Chad Killion, Andy Hoffman and Amy Hobbs; four great-grandchildren, Bryce Killion, Caty Hobbs, Cory Hobbs and Jordan Hoffman; and three step-grandchildren, Jack L. Sheridan, Jr., Terressa Degenhardt and Beth Kupferer.
Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute.
William "Bill" Marts
Boonville resident William "Bill" Marts, died Wednesday, April 16, at the Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville. He was 74.
Bill was a retired truck driver for J.H. Rudolph and member of Teamsters Local 215. He was also a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. Bill attended Boonville Wesleyan Church where he was active on Board of Trustees until his illness.
Two brothers, Lawrence and Edgar Laverne Marts and one sister, Doris Wilson preceded him in death.
Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlene (Brooks) Marts of Boonville; one daughter and her husband, Shannon and Ron Martindale of Shelbyville; one son and his wife, Timothy Allen and Laura Marts of Petersburg, Ky.; a brother, Harold Ray Marts of Charleston; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Boonville Wesleyan Church on Saturday, April 19 at 10:30 with Rev. Everett Freels and Rev. Ed Ames officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Chandler with military rites by the Warrick County Veterans Memorial Services. Visitation was held for friends and family at the Koehler Funeral Home-Boonville Chapel on Friday, April 18, from 2 p.m.-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Deaconess Hospice Care Center of Evansville.
Margarthea Minerve (Lutz) Padgett
Former Boonville resident M. Minerva (Lutz) Padgett died on Saturday, May 31 at Apple Valley Care Center in Apple Valley, Calif. She was 93.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. (Bill) Padgett, Jr.
Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis L. (Padgett) Tennis; two sons, Billy and Walter Padgett; a brother, George A. Lutz, Jr.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There were no services held and the body will be cremated.
Daniel Irvan Siekman
Oakland City resident Daniel Irvan Siekman died Monday, June 9 at his farm residence in rural Oakland City. He was 87.
Irvan was a member of the Mackey Nazarene Church. He was a graduate of Oakland City College and Purdue University. He was a teacher in Somerville and Mackey before he became a full-time dairy farmer. He had a great love for nature and gardening. He raised flowers that he provided for his church every week from early spring to late fall.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Orval Siekman and Veryl Siekman; and one sister, Thelma Siekman.
Irvan is survived by his wife of 59 1/2 years, Marion (Stillwell) Siekman; one daughter and her husband, Janet and Michael Clutter of Oakland City; three sons and their wives, Darrel and Dana Siekman, Don and Bonnie Siekman, and Von and Tanya Siekman, all of Oakland City; four grandchildren, Shannon Siekman, Amanda and Laura Clutter, and Travis Siekman and his wife, Amy; and one great-granddaughter, Dakota Siekman.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11 at the Pemberton-Bradley Funeral Home in Lynnville with Rev. Bill Reed officiating. Burial followed in the Lynnville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Irvan to the Mackey Nazarene Church.
