James R. Hurt
Date of death: April 05, 2006

James R. Hurt, 69, of Merriman Dr., Mishawaka passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 5 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

James was born on November 8, 1936 in Anderson, IN to Walter and Elizabeth (Armbrister) Hurt. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sisters, Linda Lou Hurt and Carolyn Sue Hurt.

On September 25, 2004 in Elkhart he married the former Connie Aistrop who preceded him on March 17, 2006.

Surviving James are two daughters, Beatricia Hurt of Delphi, IN, Elizabeth Mary Ann Hurt of Auburn, IN; two sons, Phillip (Karla) Hurt of Marion, IN Walter Hurt of Anderson, IN a grandchild, Skyler Hurt; a sister Carolyn (Fred) Stevens of Anderson, IN; a brother, Wallace (Jessie) Hurt of Marion, IN; two nephews, Fred (Dionne) Stevens Jr. of Anderson, IN, William Hurt of Marion, IN; a niece, Crissy (Larry) Quinn of Anderson, IN; two great nephews, Garrison and Brayden Quinn of Anderson, IN and a cousin Patsy (Forrest) Imel of Anderson.

James worked in Maintenance at Life Treatment Center in South Bend. He was a good man. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. James loved fishing, going any time he could.

The family would like to give a special Thank you to The Life Treatment Center and all of Jimmy’s close friends at the center who were family to him. The family would also like to thank all of the Staff on the 6th Floor of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend for the caring and compassion that was shown during his stay.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 8th in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with Rev. Fred Stevens officiating, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.

Contributions can be made in memory of James “Jimmy” Hurt to Life Treatment Center, 1402 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46613.

Lyle "Mickie" Ellsworth
Date of death: April 23, 2006

Lyle “Mickie” Ellsworth, 73, of Battles Road South Bend. Passed away at 4:45 PM Sunday April 23, 2006 in St. Joseph Regional Medical South Bend.

“Mickie” was born on June 30, 1932 in Osceola as the son of the late Dewey and Thelma (Murphy) Ellsworth. He was also preceded in death by six brothers Bob, Dewey, Carl, Bill, Dick, Ronnie and two sisters, Alice and Barbara.

He is survived by three brothers George (Mary) Ellsworth of Mishawaka, Jerry (Sandy) Ellsworth of Mishawaka, and Jimmy (Margie) Ellsworth of Elkhart. He is also survived by two sisters Betty Glaum of Mason, AZ and Shirley Lane of South Bend.

“Mickie” was well known for joyful spirit, and his outgoing personality. He never met a stranger just a friend he had not known. He was a hard working person who was admired by all who knew him. “Mickie” will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday April 26 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM in Hahn Funeral Home with Rev. Erv Mize officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Robert L. Andrea
Date of death: April 23, 2006

Robert L. Andrea, 74, of De Camp Blvd., Elkhart, passed away at 1:02 p.m., Sunday, April 23 in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart.

Robert was born on November 3, 1931 in Mishawaka to the late David S. and Ceclia (Caputo) Andrea. He was also preceded in death by a sister Mary Boger.

On August 18, 1951 in Mishawaka he married the former Ruth JoAnn Chiddister. Surviving Robert are his loving wife of almost 55 years, JoAnn; a daughter, Joni Rheinheimer of Elkhart; a son Tom Andrea of Mishawaka; three grandchildren, Nichole Grant, Ryan Andrea and Stephanie (Fiancée, Jeremy Arnold) Grant; two great grandchildren, Conner Arnold and Roberto Grant; and a sister Jeannie (Harold) Coffman of New Mexico.

Robert was the president of C.O. Tools in Elkhart before he retired. He was a member of DeAmici’s for many years and was on the Softball team from DeAmici’s. Robert enjoyed painting during his spare time. He was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a United States Army Veteran serving his country proudly during the Korean Conflict.

The family will receive friends Today, Wednesday, April 26th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 27th in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

Kenneth A. Coats Sr.
Date of death: September 25, 2007

Kenneth “Ken” Allen Coats Sr., 41, of Edwardsburg, MI passed away after an automobile accident.

Ken was born on June 27, 1966 in South Bend as the son of Gary and Dorothy (Meek) Coats.

On May 20, 2000 in Buchanan he married the former Debbie Leszczynski. Surviving Ken are his loving wife Debbie, four children, Cassandra Coats of Mishawaka, Kenneth Coats Jr. of Granger, Amy (Bill) Davidson of Edwardsburg, MI and Adam Leszczynski of Beloit, WI; a granddaughter Chloe Davidson and a grandson on the way; and a brother Kevin (Tammy) Coats of Osage, MN.

Ken was a 1984 Mishawaka High School Graduate. He was a Project Manager for M.P.I. Research in Mattawan, MI for the past three years. Which he said was his dream job. He loved all his coworkers dearly and they made his job one that he looked forward to going to. Ken loved spending time with his family. He loved to Fish, Hunt, Scuba dive and he loved racing his #6 Stock Car at M - 40. He loved all the drivers, especially his “Teammates” Roland, Todd, Chris & Tim, and his pit crew Bobby and Tom. He was an avid Mark Martin fan and his #6 car was a replica of the Mark Martin 1997 Valvoline Car. He also had fond memories of vacations with his dad and brother at Straight Lake in Osage, MN. He also cherished the time he helped build his brother’s house in Mishawaka.

Friends and family can visit on Thursday, September 27 from 2 to 8 p.m., in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday September 28 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in Ken’s name to Racing for Kids Sake, 203 Third Street, Lawton, MI 49065.

Richard A. DeSchepper
Date of death: September 27, 2007

Richard A. DeSchepper, 77, of Edwardsburg, MI, fought a seven year battle with cancer, passed away on Thursday, September 27 in his son’s home surrounded by his loved ones.

Richard was born on January 14, 1930, in Mishawaka as the son of Cyril and Margaret (McBroom) DeSchepper. He graduated from Madison High School. Richard married Arlene Gordon on February 12, 1949 who preceded him in death in 2003. They moved from Wyatt to Edwardsburg, MI in 1950. Surviving Richard are his children, Kathy (Michael) Connell of Edwardsburg, MI, Karen (Jim) Bramlett of Columbus, IN, Terry (Carol) DeSchepper of Edwardsburg, MI and Tim (Marcia) DeSchepper of Kalamazoo, MI; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a brother Robert (Adeline) DeSchepper.

He was a Foreman for Dodge Manufacturing for 20 years. A member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish Community and was a lifetime farmer, his one true passion and main interest.

In memory of his wife Arlene, he contributed to several charities. He enjoyed animals and was particularly fond of cats. He cherished family gatherings especially at Christmas.

Family and friends may visit to remember Richard on Sunday, September 30 from 2 to 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, with visitation one hour prior in the church, in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Edwardsburg, MI with Rev. Joe McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in Adamsville Cemetery.
