Tom George
March 30, 1953 - May 30, 2009
GRANGER - Tom George, 56, passed away Saturday in a car accident outside his Granger home. Having logged probably a million miles in his travels as a sales representative with never an accident, this is truly a tragedy. He was born March 30, 1953, in Terre Haute, IN, to Bill and Tassa George. He is survived by them as well as his siblings, Bill and Kathy, nieces, Helen, Anna and Rachel, and nephew, Tim. Tom attended Rose Hulman and ISU and was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He is survived by brothers who made an indelible imprint on his life and heart. Their always dependable friendship, especially that of KD and Jeff, meant everything to Tom. Tom had been an owner of a manufacturer's rep agency for 24 years, and his partnership with Suspa, Inc. and Steve Garvelink was a source of infinite pride to Tom. He was a co - owner of KenCon Hardware of Bristol, IN, for the past three years and was an original owner of Indy Connection Limousines. His love of his '73 Corvette was only surpassed by his love of his son, Brandon, who survives him. He is also survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathy. His unfailing love and support will forever be missed, as they made a formidable team both professionally and personally. "Still waters run deep" aptly describes Tom. He could be counted on in any situation. He gave freely of his time and talent, and his depth of knowledge was a source of wonderment to those who served on boards like Sargent Road Ass'n or home owners associations. He would be the first to offer to make repairs and do the tedious tasks from which most steered away. The depth of his generosity was limitless. When Kathy returned from a recent shopping trip with six pairs of shoes, he dubbed her an "underachiever." A time for sharing memories of Tom will be held at 4 p.m. followed by a gathering until 7 p.m. on Thursday in McGann Hay Funerals - Cremations - Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 S.R. 23 (enter off Cherry Road). Another celebration of his life will take place at Peterson's Restaurant in Indianapolis on Saturday from noon until 3 p.m. Tom would have preferred instead of flowers that donations be sent in his name to the Lambda Chi Alpha Education Foundation, 8741 Founders Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268, Attn: Charles DeMaio.
