Heather Anne Genovese

OSCEOLA – Heather Anne Genovese, 20, passed away Monday in Ft. Wayne at her college apartment where she attended Indiana Purdue Ft. Wayne (IPFW).
Heather was born in Lansing, MI on October 6, 1989 to Paul F. and Mary J. (Clancy) Genovese, they both survive of Osceola. Other surviors include: her sister Lynnalison Shannon of Roswell, GA; her brother Michael R. Genovese of Osceola; her paternal grandfather Peter P. (Joyce) Genovese of Jacksonville, FL; her paternal step - grandfather Al Ferguson of Benton Harbor, MI; her paternal great - grandfather Paul Sineni of Dowagiac, MI and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Heather was a four year varsity letter winner on the PENN High School Softball Team and member of the Class of 2008. She was a sophomore student athlete at IPFW on a Softball Scholarship and was an Academic Honors Student majoring in Educational Psychology. While at Discovery Middle School she received the Pride, Hustle, Desire Award. Heather will be remembered for: her beautiful smile, vivacious personality, fun loving spirit, determination, her loyalty to family and friends as well as her gifted athletic ability.
A celebration of Heather’s Life will be held on Saturday at 10:30AM in the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel 13260 SR 23 (enter off Cherry Rd), Rev. Mark Waltz, of Granger Community Church, officiating. Friends may call Friday from 4 - 8PM and on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30AM before the funeral. She will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: the PENN Athletic Dept. i/c Softball Coach Beth Zachary so a college scholarship for a softball player in Heather’s name can be established or to the IPFW Athletic Dept. i/c Softball Coach Amy Tudor.
Mary Catherine Stopczynski
October 31, 1928 – April 11, 2010
VANDALIA, MI - Mary Catherine Stopczynski of Michigan, formerly of Granger, passed away peacefully April 11, 2010 with loving family at her side.
Mary Catherine (also known as Cakie) was born October 31, 1928 to the late Gerald P. and Bernadine (Riffel) Kintz.
On February 7, 1948, she married Alex Stopczynski, who preceded her in death after 60 years of marriage on April 10, 2008. Those left to cherish her memory are five daughters, Carolyn (Phil) Malstaff of Granger, Linda (Booge) Einfalt of South Bend, Patty (Rodney) Snyder of South Bend, Joan (Jack) Thomas of Hastings, Michigan and Pam (Kim Daugherty) of South Bend; four sons, Jim Stopczynski of Elkhart, Dr. Bob (Gisela) Stopczynski of Granger, Bill Stopczynski of Elkhart, and John Stopczynski of Mishawaka. Also surviving are two brothers, Jack (Leona) Kintz of South Bend, Jerry Kintz of South Bend, and sister, Joyce (Dick) Mead of South Bend; 21 grandchildren and 11 great - grandchildren.
Mary Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. The center of Mary Catherine’s life was being a homemaker and raising her nine children, passing down to them those family traditions of cooking and gardening, and their devotion to their faith by attending Mass for many many years at St. Pius X in Granger, and then St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Vandalia, Michigan, where they retired.
Mary Catherine enjoyed watching figure skating and playing Bingo, hoping to hit the jackpot. Family vacations consisted of camping and fishing with her late husband, Alex, and solitude moments of swinging on her glider, watching the birds, overlooking the lake.
She had a passion for nurturing abandoned animals, including her pets Luke and Lucy and her beloved cats, Lucky and Baby.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 - 7PM in the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, SR 23, enter off Cherry Road, where there will be a parish Vigil Service at 6:00PM .
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where friends may call one hour prior. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Memorial Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

GRANGER - Elizabeth A. Long, 88, passed away April 5, 2010. On September 19, 1945, she married the love of her life, Edgar A. Long. He survives. She is also survived by one son, Jim (Suzanne) Long of Granger; two grandchildren, Amy (Christopher) Kidney of Palm Springs, CA and Scott Long of Dallas, TX; one sister, Barbara MacGregor of Pine Island, FL; and one brother, Herb Teuscher of New York, NY. No services are being held.

MISHAWAKA - Barney E. Shilts, Jr. "Putter", 73, passed away March 31, 2010. Survivors include his wife, Judith; daughters, Lori Shilts and Teri Lanning, both of South Bend; son, Brian (Angela) Shilts of FL; adoptive daughter, Tam Mason of South Bend; brother, James Shilts of Alpena, MI; and three grandchildren, Michayla Marganti, Shannon Lanning and Brianna Clark. MISHAWAKA - Marilyn J. Dvorak, 81, of Mishawaka, passed away in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Marilyn was born in Mishawaka on August 19, 1928, a daughter of the late James Eugene Radican and Merie Irma Griffis Radican. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy, South Bend. Marilyn was a homemaker, raised seven children, and later worked as a sales representative for a grocery wholesaler. Marilyn was a loving sister, mother and grandmother. She was extremely proud of her family, her children, grandchildren and great - grandchildren. In addition to raising a family and working, she volunteered at her children's school, her church, Camp Fire, St. Joseph's Hospital in South Bend and Plymouth, and the Family Justice Center. She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister: Clovis Radican, Roger Radican, Duane "Pete" Radican, Norman "Dean" Radican, James Radican, Robert Radican and Rosemerie Yoder. Her brother, John "Jack" Radican, survives her. Marilyn is survived by her seven children: Michael (Kathleen) Dvorak, Patrick (Wendy) Dvorak, Kathie (Guy) Miranda of Warren, Ohio, Margaret "Peggy" (Bernie) Bolka of Cassopolis, MI, Suzanne (Bruce) Michaels, Daniel (Robyn) Dvorak of Manhattan Beach, CA, and William Dvorak III of Ventura, CA. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and six great - grandchildren. Grandchildren: Ryan (Angie) Dvorak, Todd (Sarah) Dvorak, Sean Dvorak, Brett (Sofie) Dvorak, Carrie (Steve) Brennan, Brady Dvorak, Casey Dvorak, Tyler Dvorak, Lindsay Dvorak, Erica (Jim) Lomax, Nicole (Will) Mayfield, B.J. (Courtney) Bolka IV, Lee Bolka, Erin Michaels, Wesley Michaels, Brittany Michaels, Adrienne Michaels, Stacy Dvorak, William Connor Coit and Alexandra Dvorak. Great - grandchildren: Lily Mayfield, Liam Mayfield, Lila Mayfield, Oliver Dvorak, Caroline Dvorak and Bernard Joseph "J." Bolka, V. Visitation will be held today, March 31st, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the McGann Hay Granger Chapel, 13260 S.R. 23 (enter off Cherry Road), Granger, Indiana. There will be a vigil service at 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Fir Road & SR 23, Granger. SOUTH BEND - Robert A. Schoen, 87, passed away March 28, 2010. On July 5, 1947, he married the love of his life, Mary Schoen, who preceded him in death in 2009. Surviving are three sons, David, Terry and Dan (Misty) Schoen, all of South Bend. Robert proudly served his country in WWII, and retired as a foreman from the Bendix Corp. No services are being held.
Pauline E. (Rickel) Severeid
June 20, 1911 - March 26, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Pauline E. (Rickel) Severeid, 98, died Friday in Hospice House. Born June 20, 1911, in Tippecanoe, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Rickel. She had four sisters and one brother who also preceded her in death. In 1940 Pauline moved to South Bend to attend South Bend Business College. She met and married Epamanondous Stewart in 1941. They had two daughters, Sandy and Sherri. Epamanondous died in 1965. She later married Ward Severeid, who died in 1978. Pauline spent her later years traveling, sewing, and playing bingo. She was an avid reader, loving Danielle Steele books. She also enjoyed gardening and had a great love of flowers. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great - grandmother and great - great - grandmother. She will be missed by all. Surviving are two daughters, Sandy (Lee) Holland of Niles, MI, and Sherri (Jim) Britton of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Kim Holland of Granger, Jim (Mitzi) Holland of Granger and Jeff (Margot) Holland of Chicago; great - grandchildren, Chad Raptis of AZ, Lee Kelly Raptis of Granger, Ally, Justin and Morgan Holland of Granger, Zoey and Brady Holland of Chicago; and great - great - grandchildren, Faith and Grace Raptis of AZ. A family celebration of her life will be held in the McGann Hay, University Chapel, Edison Road, on Tuesday at 1:00 PM. Pauline's friends may call one hour prior.

SOUTH BEND - Lucy S. Gottman, 84, passed away March 25, 2010. She is survived by three children, Richard C. and Jill Ann Ogle, both of South Bend, and Lori Sue Gottman of Arkansas; brothers, Vito, Sebastian and Willie Colletti; sister, Ann Seniuk, sister - in - law, Mary Colletti; all of New Jersey; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Private services will be held by the family.
