Susan (Fenimore) Jay

South Bend - Susan (Fenimore) Jay, 69, passed away March 2, 2010, with her family by her side. She was born January 7, 1941. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Katherine Dellinger; and two husbands, James Cooper Fenimore and Dennis Jay. She is survived by daughter, Brenda (Mark) Wolgamott of South Bend; two brothers, Tom and Rick Karmolinski; step - son, Dennis Jay; step - daughter, Cynthia Jay; and two grandsons, Tyler and Benjamin Wolgamott. Susan loved her family and her dog, Ms. Bea. They were always put first in her life. For fun, she enjoyed going to the boat and playing poker, online poker and her scratch offs. She was rarely found without her cross - word puzzle book nearby. With only a high school diploma, she worked her way up in the ranks at the University of Notre Dame. After 43 years, she retired as the lead purchasing agent in the Biology Department. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, at 12:00PM. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society .
Carolyn Crim
August 20, 1925 – February 13, 2010
MISHAWAKA - Carolyn Crim, 83, of Mishawaka, passed away February 13, 2010. She was born August 20, 1925. Carolyn is survived by her former guardian, Virginia Black of South Bend; and many friends at Logan Center and Golden Living Center. She loved music, taking walks and eating special treats. Her funny pranks and smile will be missed. No services are being held at this time.
Robert P. Rand Sr.
July 17, 1942 - Feb. 27, 2010
MISHAWAKA - Robert Paul Rand Sr., 67, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, in Hospice House. Bob was born on July 17, 1942, in Plymouth, IN, to Walter and Lois Rand. He was an honorary member of the NAACP, a key component to desegregation in the 1970s, and an active member of the Family Bible Church. Bob was involved in PTA and was president for several years. He was an experimental machinist for Sibley in South Bend, IN, and then he became an emergency medical technician. He was a man that loved the Lord with all his heart, soul and mind. He had a kind, loving spirit. All who knew him, loved him. Most of all, Bob was known for his warm smile and his quick wit. On September 4, 1965, he married Carol K Nemeth. Survivors include one son, Robert P. Rand Jr. "Robby" of Mishawaka, IN; one daughter, Tammy S. Reihl of Osceola, IN; four grandchildren, Nicole (Nixon) Wagoner of Osceola, IN, Kayla Rand of Mishawaka, IN, Tiffany Rand of Mishawaka, IN, and Amy Reihl of Osceola, IN. A celebration of Bob's (Papa's) life will be held today, March 1, 2010. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. McGann Hay in charge.
Kenneth R. Janiak

SOUTH BEND - Kenneth R. Janiak, 45, passed away Saturday. He was born December 28, 1964, to the late Leonard and Judith Janiak. He is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughter, Renee Janiak, both of South Bend; and sister, Denise (Al) Vidmar Wininger of Elkhart. Ken enjoyed golf and fishing, and was an avid Notre Dame, NASCAR and Bear's fan. Following his wishes, there will be no services. Donations may be made at Community Wide Federal Credit Union, where a college fund is being set up for Renee.
Bernard W. Feingold
November 12, 1935 – February 27, 2010
South Bend - Bernard W. Feingold, 74, passed away February 27, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on December 26, 2009. He leaves behind two sons, Bruce (Anita) and Jody Feingold; four grandchildren, Julian, Tristian, David and Joshua; and one adopted son, Steve Walker, and his daughter, Allison. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel at 2:30PM. Burial will follow at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery.
Lucille Murdock
September 15, 1914 – February 26, 2010
SOUTH BEND - The gentle soul of Lucille (Kinerk) Murdock returned to God on Friday, February 26, 2010.
She was born to Frank and Molly (Joyce) Kinerk on September 15, 1914. She attended St. Joseph School, Central High School and graduated from the South Bend College of Commerce.
In 1942 she married Howard D. Murdock of Kingston, New York. They moved to LaPorte where she lived for 50 years. She was active in her parish, MQ Bridge Club, American Cancer Society, the LaPorte Hospital Auxiliary and many other groups. Her numerous charitable acts were quiet.
Her husband died in 1976. She was also predeceased by her brother, Louis (Juno) and her two sisters, Florence and Margaret.
She returned to South Bend to live with her daughter, Joyce, who survives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Bend at 10:30AM. Visitation will be in the church one hour prior. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, IN.
May she now rest in peace with her family who she loved and missed so much and so long.

Charles Mintz
July 24, 1912 – February 26, 2010
Mishawaka - Charlie Mintz, 97, passed away peacefully February 26, 2010 in his home. Born July 24, 1912, he was the son of Joseph and Frieda Mintz.
While serving in the army during WWII,Charlie met and married his soul mate, Toby Moss. She preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by four children, Dick (Linda) of South Bend, Dan (Marianne) of Hinsdale, IL, Ilene “Hayya” Mintz of Ithaca, NY and Laura Mintz of New Haven, CT; six grandchildren, Jacob (Lauren) of Chicago, Brian and David, both of Santa Rosa, CA, Tahila of South Africa, and Matt and Adrienne Mintz, both of Hinsdale, IL; and one great granddaughter, Sloane Mintz.
Funeral Services will be held at Sinai Synagogue on Tuesday, March 2 at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery.

Lawrence C. Luther Sr.
1938 - 2010
SOUTH BEND - Lawrence Craig Luther Sr., 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13th, at 8:04 a.m. in Regency Place. He resided in South Bend but had previously lived in Gallup, NM, Paw Paw, MI, and wintered in Ft. Myers, FL. He was born in South Bend to Edmund James and Margaret (Pierce) Luther. Larry graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1956, then graduated from Notre Dame in the Class of 1963. He was a disabled Army veteran, having served in Korea as an enemy code breaker. Mr. Luther then worked as an agent with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He took a leave of absence to help his father in the family - owned beer distributorship, Ed J. Luther Beverages, Inc. He took over Luther Beverage in 1971 following his father's death, becoming the youngest appointed beer distributor by the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company. He operated Luther Beverage until he sold it in 1981, but continued to work in the beverage industry until he retired. Larry enjoyed Notre Dame football, genealogy, spending time with family, sharing old memories, boating and his RVs. Mr. Luther was a member of St. Pius X Parish, Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 303. Surviving Mr. Luther are his significant other, Gladys C. Zaremba; his children, Edmund J. Luther III, Katherine M. Niespodziany, Lawrence C. (Marlene) Luther Jr. and Joseph M. (Cheryl) Luther, and 13 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church, friends may call one hour prior to Mass in church. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call also on Thursday from 3 - 5 and 6 - 8 p.m. in McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off Cherry Road), where a parish vigil service will start at 8 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his companion, Gladys, for taking such good care of their father in his final years. Memorials in Larry's memory may be made to the St. Pius X Building Fund.
