Jesse A. Finton

MISHAWAKA - Mr. Jesse A. Finton, 81, formerly of South Bend, died Saturday in his residence at the Golden Living Center, Mishawaka. He was born on November 25, 1928, in Andrews, IN, one of three children of Laban and Louise Finton, including his brother and sister, Elmer Finton and Etta Altman. Jesse retired as a staff sergeant in the United States Army after 20 years of service. He later retired as an electrician with over 25 years from Indiana & Michigan Power Co. Jesse was a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints, Mishawaka. His wife, Morie (Umezawa) Finton, predeceased him on June 23, 1997, as well as a son, Ronald L. (Mary) Finton of Mishawaka, who died on November 7, 2007. Surviving Jesse are a son, Richard L. "Rich" (Sherrie Shock) Finton of Jefferson City, MO; six grandchildren, Matthew, Elijah, Rachel, William, Ashley and Ronnie; and his great - grandchildren, Dylan Backer and Aaliyah Finton. Visitation will be today from 4 - 7 p.m. in the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road near Ironwood. The funeral will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Anna Mae Baker
Jan. 19, 1914 - April 25, 2010
ZEPHYRHILLS, FL - Anna Mae Baker, 96, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2010, in Zephyrhills, Florida. She was a lifelong resident of the South Bend area until November 2009, when she moved to Florida to be near her grandchildren, Marcie Baker and Donald Baker, and daughter - in - law, Barbara Baker - Stetson. In addition she is survived by her other grandchildren, Ronald Baker, John Baker and his wife, Gloria, who all live near Washington, D.C. During the later years of her life she was blessed to have many friends who loved her and helped her, especially Sandi Fulton and her family, and many hospice workers and volunteers. She was preceded in death by her only child, Raymond D. Baker, her grandson, Thomas Baker, her husband, Ernest Baker, and all of her siblings. Richard “Rick” Paul Reiter
December 30, 1955 – April 23, 2010
White Pigeon, MI - Richard “Rick” Paul Reiter, age 54, unexpectedly passed away Friday, April 23, at the M40 Speedway, Jones, MI - doing the thing he loved - driving around a racetrack.
He will be greatly missed by his longtime companion, Karen Rustin; and grand daughter, Baylyn Marie, both of White Pigeon, MI; his mother, Martha Reiter; sister, Debbie (Mark) Reiter; brothers, Ronald Reiter, Kenneth Reiter and Rodney Smithley, all of Bradenton, FL; daughter, Amy Walker and grandson, Austin Walker of Arcadia, FL; and daughter Angie (Tony) Montgomery and grandson, Garrett of Constantine, MI.
He will join in heaven his father, Paul Leo Reiter; brother, Rex Reiter; and his hero, Dale Earnhardt Sr.
He was born December 30, 1955 in Fostoria, OH. He attended school in Bradenton, FL. He started stock car racing at age 13 – winning many championships. He helped his dad at his Bradenton junkyard. He moved to Michigan in 1983 and started his own auto repair and custom race car business. He raced at many tracks in the area, and loved walking, talking and wrenching in the pits. He was a fan of all motor sports, and anything Earnhardt. He was a gentle, soft spoken man and everyone who met him liked him. He was a man of many projects. Richard built a full - size replica of Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s first asphalt stock car (a 66 Chevell, which will be inducted into the Gilmore Car Museum in Kalamazoo, this May.) There will be a celebration of life memorial on May 14 at the M40 Speedway, 58671 Michigan 40 Jones, MI 49061, starting at 6:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Southern Michigan Bank and Trust, PO Box 217, Constantine, MI 49042, for Baylyn Marie’s future.

SOUTH BEND - Betty Ackles, 84, passed away April 16, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Marie (Zangerce) Koerth. Her husband, Ronald Ackles, preceded her in death. She is survived by nephew, Steven Rodin of South Bend, and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, 10:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. MISHAWAKA - Vera Pesa Goldman, 86, passed away Thursday at Fountainview.
Born in Poland. Retired: Wells Electronics. Her husband Moritz Goldman died in 1973. She is survived by a son, Rudi Goldman of The Netherlands, a daughter Tina R. Goldman of Mishawaka and two granddaughters: Lisa M. Goldman of Charleston, SC and Valarie L. Varney of Mishawaka.

SOUTH BEND - Arlene J. Greenman, 79, passed away June 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by parents Floyd and Sadie Supernaw; and son, Andrew Russell Greenman. She is survived by her husband, Darwin Russell Greenman; children, Andrea Lefleur of South Bend and Ricky D. Greenman of FL; brothers, Merle (Millie) Supernaw of Flint, MI and Dale (Marlene) Supernaw of Houghton Lake, MI; grandchildren, Leo Parsons, Chad and Kevin Greenman, and J.R. and Rusty Lefleur; and seven great grandchildren. GRANGER - Evelyn B. Mock, 87, of Granger, IN, went home to her Savior on Monday, June 14, 2010. She passed peacefully from this life at her home in Meadow View Estates, Cassopolis, MI. Evelyn was born in Allen Co., IN, on November 20, 1922, to Earl and Rena Griswold. On May 28, 1939, she married Cloice W. Mock, and together they raised three sons. Cloice and Evelyn lived most of their married life in Mishawaka. Evelyn devoted her life to her husband and children. A woman filled with love and laughter, she brought joy to all who knew her. Evelyn had a passion for seashells, and her home was filled with decorative pieces she had created from her collection. Her lawn was always perfectly manicured and filled with beautiful blooming plants and flowers. No guest would leave her home without a meal. Her 12 grandchildren and 15 great - grandchildren remember her with joy, and each child was her "doll baby." Any event they participated in, she would attend if she was able. Evelyn was a woman filled with love and life. She is now dancing with her Lord. We rejoice with her, yet sorrow in our hearts. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Karon E. Mock (Roxanne), Houston TX, David B. Mock (Linda), Fort Wayne, IN, and Alan W. Mock (Mary Anne), Niles, MI. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 15 great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloice W. Mock; two brothers, Cleo and Elmer Griswold; and one sister, Marjorie Godfrey. Her sister and best friend, Maxine Mason of Auburn, IN, survives. As special "thank you" to all of her friends and the staff of Meadow View Estates. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off Cherry Road). NILES - Robert O. Kizer, 65, passed away June 14, 2010. Born April 14, 1945, in South Bend, he was the son of the late Porter L. and Kathryn K. Kizer. On June 26, 1998, Robert married Ellen Suzanne Fletcher. She survives in Niles. He owned and operated Kizer Starline Printing Co. for six years. He will be missed for many reasons, but especially because of the way he could make people laugh. No services are being held.

Survived by children; Susan (Rabbi Isaac) Farhi of Deal, NJ and Ricki (Jim) McLaughlin of Port Angeles, WA; Edward (Margie) Aretz of Princeton, NJ Bruce (Amy) Becker of Indianapolis, IN; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great - grandchildren. Gary and his late wife Anita owned and operated Aretz Interiors. Services: 10:30 am, Monday graveside at Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka.
